I wrote the test today and it actually went well. I knew and understood every question in the test after reviewing ur lessons twice, THANK YOU!!!!!! I felt confident and prepared, ready for everything. Altho, I was so disappointed and frustrated bc I made stupid stupid rounding mistakes, and circled the wrong answer. Trig is my favourite unit and I can’t believe I made those dumb mistakes.I’m so sad but also excited for the next unit!!
I’m sure that one little rounding mistake won’t make a big dent in your mark. Your teacher will check the process and you should Get part marks. Fingers crossed 🤞
Thank you sooo much for the amazing video!! Just a question is the answer for Question 3 (-root6-root2)/4? I thought I heard plus root 6. Thnak you again!!
I’m pretty sure if you could have seen the answer(not well presented) you would have seen that I factored out a -1 and therefore the signs would change inside the bracket. 😊
@@mshavrotscanadianuniversit6234 oh my bad on the video i couldn't see the bottom half of the page but you said 120/13 sorry thanks for the clarification
@@mshavrotscanadianuniversit6234 :) honestly thank you so much for these videos im currently talking summer school to get ahead next year and we went through chapter 7 in less than 4 days and I have my test tomorrow! so having these videos helped alot with grasping the content thanks again
Oh man, that’s cramming! The good news is that you are doing the most difficult units first! (Trig is the toughest one for most students). Thanks for watching and feel free to ask questions!
For question 5, you wrote that 2 (5/13) (12/13) = 120/13, but isn't this incorrect because you forgot to multiply the denominators together? 2 (5/13) = 10/13, and then it's (10/13) (12/13), and you multiply the numerators of both sides so you get 120, and the denomenators so you get 169, final answer 120/169?
This was super helpful! Thanks you!! I have my test tomorrow, I really hope I do well... chapter 6 brought me down :/ but hopefully chapter 7 can redeem me haha
Thank you so much for your efforts! I've been taught this in grade 8 in my Ukrainian school and as we are taught this in grade 12 here, in Canada, I was really disappointed.. haha. Sending all my love and thanks to you for refreshing my memory! (P.s. I am having the test on this tomorrow)♥
For another question (similar to question 6) when i take the sine inverse of a number, im getting a negative, im not sure what to do with it like do I divide by the number beside the x in sine or what?
Could you give me an example? Of course it is possible to get a negative value when you solve for the angle because just look at the graph. Half of the graph is negative.
Okay. I sent you a reply that didn’t make sense (it’s past my 9pm bedtime! 😂). The answer would depend on the domain given but I will assume it’s 2pi. sin3x = -√3/2 You know that sine is positive in Q1 and Q2 so the first quadrant it is negative is Q3 and then Q4. The related acute angle is 60° or pi/3 so in Q3 you would get 4pi/3 and in Q4 5pi/3 Now adjust for sin3x by dividing by 3 (4pi/9 and 5pi/9) Now add the period until you get to 2pi (the period is 2pi/3 or 6pi/9) and I’ll let you finish the question.
It’s negative because it’s giving you the acute angle in Q4 but your question doesn’t want you to give negative angles. Your domain is 0 to 2pi. So you have to find which quadrant has the sine function negative (or if you look at the graph it becomes obvious. Got it?
ms havrot for question 3, to get 165 degrees i used 135 and 30 as the exact values, and got a completely different answer in the end...is that supposed to happen??
quick question, if a question involves 3pi/2 or pi/2 is that when cofunctions are involved, i have my test tomorrow on chapter 7, honestly im fine with the equations and identities but its just the cofunction stuff and when to use it is my problem, i also get stuck on finding the exact value of a question vs expressing it as an equivalent, anyways thanks for this video helps alot
Don’t forget you can always test your answer by using some acute value for theta, say 10 degrees and plug it into your calculator to see if you are correct! (Is the sin(90 +10) the same as cos 10 ?
Hi!! I have one question: At 2:27, why did you switch to the cofunction for a) and c) but not for b)? I don't really understand that part :( Thank you!
I switched to the cofunction because we were starting from pi/2 or 3pi/2 That's when you need to use a cofunction. In (b) we were starting from the horizontal axis so we don't need to switch it. In short ... anytime you see pi/2 or 3pi/2 think COFUNCTION! : )
Thanks for the practice test. Honestly trig identities are much harder with the compound and double angle formulas. This unit is easy so far and I currently have a 90 in the course but I’m worried that the new trig identities will confuse me on the unit test. I have a good base understanding on grade 11 trig identities so thats not really a problem. Your videos are awesome at covering this so I’m going to look through this playlist for ch 7. Thanks Ms Havrot again!!

Whoa. That sounds high tech for a senior citizen!
On the last page, question a, why does cot changes into tan in the numerator and tan changes into cot in the denominator?
This is because you are using the COFUNCTION identities here. That means that if you see pi/2 or 3pi/2 you need to use the cofunctions.

Yes Pi/2 and 3pi/2 will use cofunctions.
So, you would normally be asked to give an equivalent expression for, say cos (3pi/2 + theta) or you may also see it in an identity.
