the most classical of Disney's parades for sure, love it! saw it in '79 for the first time with my parents and in 2013 with my kids the last time (with a few in between), still the best never change it please!
Every time I go to Disney World, I ALWAYS look forward to this show. This is an inspired work of art, and it takes true imagination to bring something this amazing to life
This was one of the highlights of my trip 10/5/14. This video does not do it justice. So beautiful, colorful and musical! I was like a kid in a candy store.
AHHHHHH electric hoedown always gives me goosebumps every time I hear it...Good times and memories...Disney should bring it back to Disneyland in California for a new generation to enjoy it
Thanks for sharing this! Wonderful video!! My favorite parade of all time. Use to work at Disneyland from 1991-1997 when it was running. Would stop and watch when I was off, instead of heading home. Nowadays, cannot afford Disneyland prices nor do I want to deal with the everyday crowds. This video gave me the magic back without having to deal with going.
In the 90's my uncle was one of the mouse's in the Electrical Parade. It was amazing for my family to see him. Sadly he quit about three years after. I never knew why
NICE! what do you think of the upgrades the parade has gotten? i actually like them though i wish they hadn't cut the Blue Fairy or the Dumbo section out (interestingly there was a new set of music loops for the Dumbo section that were recorded before the decision was made to get rid of it ,also the Blue fairy was originally planned to have moved to the Pinnocchio section. alas neither occurred.
also did your uncle ever say anything about the soundtrack he worked with (the dancers and coreographers often had trouble weith the old soundtrack because there was 1 bar of music with three beats wheras the rest was all 2 beat tempo, the version heard in this video corrected that problem and kept the music in all 2 beat tempo.
no no no...being a MOUSE is cool...maybe..he couldn't deal with the long walking etc of a parade.. you don't know..MANY PEOPLE work many years at D-land...had I not had a bad back, I'd still be there...........I worked on Main St..making those big salads!
THIS IS WHAT LIFE'S ALL ABOUT....ENJOY AND FORGET ABOUT IT........ I miss going here for the dances with Shelly and Linda...1964 $1.25 to WALK IN THE DOOR AND enjoy..the rides you could buy with ticket books or separate. And I miss working there...I made those big salads you buy on Mainstreet at the corner inside.
The one time i saw this parade was when i was five and all i could remember was being scared shit-less of those spinning turtles and bugs and the music with them. i dont really know why i just couldnt do it.
Best ever, it's just magical whatever your age! It would've good if they updated the floats with LED lighting and has some more modern films and characters represented, but all together it still tops the paint the light parade IMO. That looks all very showy but is missing the charm of the MSEP and certainly won't have the longevity!
The reason the music is new is because they didn't want to pay Don Dorsey royalties for the famous performance. They used some unnamed staff musician to remix and perform it whom they wouldn't have to pay on an ongoing basis. The "excuse" was the "choreographers wanted to remove the short 7 count measure". It wasn't a problem since 1973 apparently... They had to however, use Don's vocoder intro as he had the original in his library. I saw the parade in 2017 and the new music is distracting as it lacks the energy of the original and is missing the one "short" measure. It's like changing the notes to the national anthem just to make it easier to sing. It's a cop out. I performed in the parade from 1988-1993 and while the new light tech is fantastic -- the soul of the parade is the original music.
It a shame they got rid of the section that changes colors (at least I didn't see it in this video). It went from being colorful to being all white. One of the best effects in the parade in my opinion. It's usually near the end of the parade.
DisneyVideoTours ARE YOU KIDDING! THEY STILL HAVE THIS............OHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT..........for the next time...... D-land ALWAYS NEEDS THIS..........
keri caye I think "Paint The Night" will be a suitable replacement (our version will feature more nods to the Electrical Parade than Hong Kong's version)
