Then, learning a passable cover of 4 of those songs in just 2 short days! And having the same feel, timing and cadence as the original with the exact semitone bends and all to make the piece feel authentic.. not to mention, the audition is for one of the greatest shred bands in existence; with a demanding precision in both technical skill and tonal clarity.. this is an achievement as both a musician and as a dedicated marksman. The humility by Kiko is understated, to say the least.

Saw MegaDeth a couple years back and I was front row on the bars with my brother in front of the moshpit. I'd been playing guitar for 8 years and singing for 4 and my brother was a drummer. Kiko and Dave both fist bumped me in between solos and it was wild. Kiko is awesome
This is the first Megadeth song I learned a while back, Friedman’s solos really helped me build my chops up. This video is really inspiring and makes me want to post a cover of my own
I tried learning it too and I couldn't get past the first sweeps haha. I use those sweep arpeggios as my sweep practice now. They are still too fast for me
Regardless of how accurate this is, I just love how raw and pure this video is. No post production studio magic. Just you, your guitar and a camera, showcasing pure talent. *edit* - I wish more guitarists did this. Now days, every "playthrough" you see is a perfectly edited, cut & pasted together, massively overproduced, polished pre-recording, over a video of fake playing.
Love the rawness of the sound. We're hearing the input at the guitar versus the output after rack/effects/amp. It's also more percussive. Awesome Kiko!
You are an amazing guitar player but you seem to be a better person. Humble af, interactive and very polite. You are the best since Friedman. Im glad that you are part of Megadeth
I love how down to earth person kiko is! This is what makes a musician good. Being good human is first and very basic requirement to become a great musician. Kiko is a great person, which makes him a great musician too. Love you kiko!!
You started off directly going for the hardest Megadeth song on guitar, and you almost nailed it to 100% I think Dave must have had a very similar reaction to the one he had when he discovered Marty Friedman for the first time, and he later reffered to him and his technique on the lyric book of Rust in Peace as "a breath of fresh air", good job and I hope to see you guys soon in Argentina!
Kiko's level is so high he learned in one day songs that take weeks to really memorize and play more or less well. Kind of reminds me how Steve Vai learned an entire set of Malmsteen songs in one day.
people like this, their humble attitude, and clearly saying he's making mistakes, is testament to this mans brilliant musicanship. Probably the reason he got the gig wasn't the fact that he submitted a note perfect rendition as he says himself, but rather they looked at him overall and said, "yep, we can use this guy, he's approachable, easy going, would hold up well on tour, knows his music theory, and the rest we can iron out as we go along..." I love people like this, true and honest, and approachable, no ego, absolutely top marks Kiko.. oh and the guitar playing is superb! on a side note example, when Viv Cambpell auditioned for Def Leppard in the 80s, and the ones who got the gig, Viv Cambell in particular, got the gig because he could do BVs as well.. sometimes it's more about the person, than the player.. :D but Kiko is still a superb player.. I have to say. During my time playing guitar, I've played with some famous people, and not so famous, but the people I remembered and liked, were the ones who were approachable, and just pleasant to be around. Les Binks, was one, Tony Parsons another, and some of my old students, Alex Knowles (A superb bassist).. I'd rather tour with people like that, where the odd mistake is laughable, and we move on, than hotheads!
2 days? Damn... It takes me about 2 weeks to learn the main riff. Kiko is my fav guitarist, I have no doubt about that. This shows how much of a humble person he is, I wonder how many guitarists at his level are willing to show this kind of stuff. You're the best, man. Take care of yourself and your family! (:
Animal Kiko!!! :) Essa agora me lembrou a audição do Trujillo no Metallica documentada no filme "Some Kind of Monster", um dos meus favoritos!
I like this type of artists who has humbleness with the same level of his talent. When the artist is extremely talented (like Kiko) of course, because equivalency of talent and humbleness wouldn't be very nice in the opposite situation.
It's because he have a bad technique. I'm licensed instrumentalist guitar specialist And I understood that he says it so that they do not imitate the mistakes that he had when not studying and not being a real musician. Do not imitate his bad technique and musical vices.
It's easy to see why they chose to bring this guy into the band. Incredible player but also modest and unnasuming. It sounds as if Dave Mustaine was auditioning him not just as a guitarist but as a human being. He obviously passed !
I have nothing whatsoever against Kiko and wish him the best. But considering Mustaine’s history, I’d be more doubtful about what Mustaine himself might be looking for in bandmates from a human perspective, and especially why. Sometimes it’s the best human attributes that get abused by more twisted minds.
Very appreciated your honesty... Sometimes we all watch at you guys on stage as superheroes or gods ... At the end of the story you are all humans with limits... Now I know also you have to work a lot to reach the goals... Thnx man thnx so much
You can only admire a guy like this. The authenticity and the humbleness to come out and say what he says in the video. In Portuguese: Exemplar! Grande exemplo 👏
What I love about Kiko is that not only does he play with feeling he has his own style, and groove and he is seemingly a down to earth humble person with raw natural ability.

Musicians like Kiko inspire others and that’s rare from an elite guitarist like him. I remember buying my son a Fender guitar modified to have the same specs as Eddie Van Halen’s Frankenstrat that cost me 2 grand. So I had a close friend of mine come to my house to teach my son beginner type of stuff like learning the fret, finger positions, etc.I had also got him an acoustic guitar to learn on but my friend saw the frankenstrat with Gibson amp in the corner of my living room and started to play a couple of Van Halen songs and of.Course Eruption. As he was tapping and talking about the guitar my son who was 9 at the time got up and left. I had gone to buy beer and found my friend going nuts on the guitar and told me it was an amazing guitar and I asked for my son. He was in his room upset. He never wanted to play the guitar again. I told my fiend that he turned my son off to learning how to play because after seeing him play he said to himself they he would never be able to learn all that. And that was the end of him wanting to play guitar. My point is that musicians can turn people off and make you say to yourself dam I’ll never be able to learn all that. But musicians like Kiko and also Marty Friendman who I have seen interviewed as well about learning to play guitar they both inspire and videos like the ones Kiko posted are genuine and meant to show others that it can be done, and that is to play guitar. Love his willingness to show videos where he’s raw and not polished but still playing well for others to see and not give up or at the beginning the learning is tough.
Good points Tony!! 👍 And I agree about Kiko! I remember feeling somewhat like your son many years back when I heard El demiola and Paco play Mediterranean Sundance and thought they were from some other planet cuz I could barely play five chords on the guitar.. many years later when deciding to work on the song I was able to play it. I also have given guitar lessons over the years and it's important to inspire each student as an individual, with their own needs musically..🐦

The only reason I pull up RUclips everyday is to see if there are any new Kiko videos. Today is a happy day
Appreciate the honesty and being realistic about your audition.
This is the first Megadeth song I learned a while back, Friedman’s solos really helped me build my chops up. This video is really inspiring and makes me want to post a cover of my own
Go for it!
David Guerrero - go for it, do it, why not.
Go on buddy
I tried learning it too and I couldn't get past the first sweeps haha. I use those sweep arpeggios as my sweep practice now. They are still too fast for me
Do it!
And he learned that in a couple days!!!
Thanks
Gotta love that raw tone, makes me wanna throw my active EMGs in the bin.
@@ddaneh3090 album has been out forever. Kiko learned years ago. Like everyone else. Just had brush up on it
Why is having good production quality a bad thing?
Love the rawness of the sound. We're hearing the input at the guitar versus the output after rack/effects/amp. It's also more percussive. Awesome Kiko!
It’s just great that you share material that you don’t like just to let us improve and become better players
You are an amazing guitar player but you seem to be a better person. Humble af, interactive and very polite. You are the best since Friedman. Im glad that you are part of Megadeth
I'm 46 and Megadeth is why I learned guitar and my favorite band. I think you are the best thing to ever happen to my band.... Thank you sir
I think they picked the right guitarist for the job! You rock, Kiko!
Kiko: "Dont try to learn the song from this, I played a lot of wrong notes."
Me: "Are you challenging me???"
Off top thing but why the hell, do I see your account in every metal video comment section, what I watch?

Essa agora me lembrou a audição do Trujillo no Metallica documentada no filme "Some Kind of Monster", um dos meus favoritos!
I like this type of artists who has humbleness with the same level of his talent. When the artist is extremely talented (like Kiko) of course, because equivalency of talent and humbleness wouldn't be very nice in the opposite situation.
“Don’t try to play like me...”
Ok, don’t need to rub it on our faces...
kkkkk
Its because he plays the notes wrong.
It's because he have a bad technique.
I'm licensed instrumentalist guitar specialist And I understood that he says it so that they do not imitate the mistakes that he had when not studying and not being a real musician. Do not imitate his bad technique and musical vices.
hahahahaha, nice
@@bryanpedraza6409 He has good technique, better than you

The only man for the job! Thanks for sharing Kiko!! Your such an inspiration. 🤘
True Rockstar with a great appetite for life . Love your work Kiko.
The best guitarist for Megadeth since Marty, Conquer or Die is one of my favourite Megadeth solo's ever, Kiko is awesome!
It's easy to see why they chose to bring this guy into the band. Incredible player but also modest and unnasuming. It sounds as if Dave Mustaine was auditioning him not just as a guitarist but as a human being. He obviously passed !
He also moves around a lot during the shows . And gets into it 👍
I have nothing whatsoever against Kiko and wish him the best. But considering Mustaine’s history, I’d be more doubtful about what Mustaine himself might be looking for in bandmates from a human perspective, and especially why. Sometimes it’s the best human attributes that get abused by more twisted minds.
@@Quincepsand probably why Kiko left
