Alicia you are a breath of fresh air in the minimalism space…connecting the dots explaining how minimalism is a spiritual, stoic philosophical and socially conscious concept ✨🤍
Your home looks warm and cozy without furniture. I think the color of your walls, the carpet and blanket are making it look cozy. My place has white walls (most rented places in Germany have white walls)) and they make it look quite cold, especially in the colder months. So I'm keeping some wooden furniture, fairy lights and candles to create a warmer atmosphere.
Only been a subscriber for a week but wow people weren’t kidding when they said it’s more than just typical minimalism. Love this channel so much and your authenticity 🇬🇧
it's super easy to find leather goods secondhand and i think this is a much better option than most vegan leathers, as so many of them are just literal plastic
Love this video, and thank you so much for answering my questions! Both of them! I feel a little bit famous 🤣 I wondered, and have done on several occasions, if you have ever considered house/ pet sitting as a way to travel full time? I have been doing it for a long time (since 2018 sporadically and full time since 2022) and it's a great way to spend time with animals while exploring new areas. It's a mutual exchange, so no money changes hands, and it keeps the cost of accommodation very minimal (if not completely free. I only occasionally have to pay for Airbnbs in between bookings). Anyway, just some food for thought as I think you'd love it and be perfect for it whenever you decide to up sticks and go adventuring! 👜
Science has now shown that trees have a community and are connected to each other. We just haven’t gotten the understanding that we don’t know everything yet. This was a wide ranging discussion
Just subscribed! I had been hoping to find some channels that felt natural and authentic for minimalist inspiration. So glad I found yours 🙂Thank you for being so open and for sharing yourself, your perspective, and your lifestyle. I’m excited to read Dune!
I have been scrolling back on some past videos I missed during the last few weeks. After watching the episode, I always feel enriched by your channel content 🙏 Having worn Blundstones, they are indeed some of the more durable and "organically" practical. Two vegan activists that I have known shared with me that along with their commitment to end animal suffering they also will only wear leather footwear. They said that native peoples they had worked with claimed the frequency of the natural material in their footwear was of a higher vibration than synthetic materials could ever be --- no matter how sincere the intention. They also lamented the piles of discarded waste that resulted from synthetic materials that could never decompose and the cumulative detriment to so many ecosystems. It can be a bit of a deep dive to consider. Yet their example gave me much "food for thought" throughout the years. Since then, I am at peace in wearing leather footwear while also maintaining a vegan food plan.
Yes it’s always a balance and we will have an impact no matter what so keeping mindfulness in all actions is all we can do. Glad you are finding nourishment here Jean🙏🏻🌸
Thank you so much for mentioning the Earthling video. I just watched it (and cried) and then have been watching EarthlingEd's videos. I'm highly debating becoming vegan, but definitely vegetarian. I'd love a video on your diet.
I’ll meet up with friends at restaurants or at their homes but because my job is so social I need a lot of solitude to recharge. This channel is my passion/creative project and takes up a lot of time outside of my full time job, so beyond that just being in nature and slowness/stillness is a lot of how I spend my time 💚
Thank you for answering my question! Currently in this weird zone of declutterring but buying stuff and returning it because I realized what I did later 😂
Shout out to another nighttime showerer! Also, I really appreciate your perspective on purchasing leather and "vegan leather". From here on out, I'm going to wear my shoes until they are absolutely dead. That's going to be a while (looking at you "vegan leather" sandals with memory foam). I'm on a no-buy year, which might become a lifestyle, so that works out well! ✌
Thousand million percent awesome video! I agree with your thoughts on leather. I was battling the exact same dilemma for years and years as a vegan. I now own 2 pairs of leather ankle boots, one pair bought second hand (used only once or twice), and one pair bought new, and I love them. Leather is unfortunately way superior to plastic materials, maybe one day this will change and they will come up with durable, comfortable, eco friendly and kind materials, but we are not there yet. I think there is a world of difference between buying a well crafted pair of shoes or boots made from leather, that you know you will use a lot and for many years, compared to buying some cheap shite horrible leather from Shein that you will use for a couple of months before they fall apart. And yes good quality second hand is best, when available. I love that you are so into Vikings, obviously being one myself haha. Another aspect I love of old Scandinavian culture is that it was a very equal society for men and women. Women often ruled the roost! Powerful Viking-spirit women unite! xx
We seem very similar in many respects -- both love Heilung and Wardruna et al, Hans Zimmer has also been my favorite composer since I was a teenager (and Tuomas Holopainen from Nightwish whose favorite composer is Hans Zimmer), some of my favorite music to jam out to is old school Calvin Harris and his contemporaries, I'm also an extreme minimalist when it comes to core life possessions like clothing and personal care, love the Four Agreements, in process of switching to the same futon sleeping situation ... interesting!
If you love Hans Zimmer you should definitely check out Ludovico Einaudi, an italian pianist/composer who writes movie soundtracks as well, I adore his music! You might even know some of his pieces already, he's pretty famous. Thank you for raising awareness...on awareness 😊 it's important to realize that behind a true minimalist who's not following a trend with stupid colour palettes and type of furniture there's a long journey made of work on oneself throughout the years and presence in the moment. Spiritual concepts too often overlooked but fundamental to become and remain a minimalist.
Thank you so much for this lovely reflection and I know Ludovico very well- I’ve adored his music for years and even choreographed a few pieces to his music. “Experience” from In A Time Lapse is one of my favorite songs ever ❤️
I'm a huge Dune fan as well. Have you watched the Dune and Children of Dune miniseries that aired on the SciFi Channel back in the 2000s? I absolutely love them, and they are my favorite film Dune adaptations.
What a cute outfit you have on today. David Guetta and Smashing Pumpkin are my jam too. Please come to Australia to meet us here in Oz. I would LOVE that.
I think I remember you saying on another video that you prefer not to invite people into your home. How do (or would) you deal if family members came to visit and wanted to stay at your place, would you allow it or tell them no? I definitely resonate with wanting to protect my peace (it's why I don't really socialize much haha), but people keep telling me that I need connections and can't live my life all alone. I see the value in this, but at the same time I find it very difficult to tolerate being around people/family members I don't like.
People tend to project their own preferences on others. They need constant social connection and feel lonely in solitude so they take this as universal, but it’s not. I’m at peace in solitude and need more than the average person, but this doesn’t mean I’m unhealthy or sad or maladjusted- I’m just different. And there’s a lot of us like this. My family is not the type to stay with me- they would get airbnbs or hotels. So it’s not an issue.
Hi, i came across you on the other channel, and linked here. I love your style and approach to life! I travelled in a motor home for a year 25 years ago, and when i returned and got a job, my apartment looked like yours. I so miss it. Youre inspiring me that i can do it again. Thank you! Im curious...what is your fulltime job?
New here, love your context. Lots of food for thought. Regarding having no wifi, how do you listen to music and watch occasional movies and take care of banking etc. Do you use a large cellular plan and/or hotspot to a laptop upon occasion. Just trying to sort out how to reduce or eliminate my evenings and weekends wifi habit of movies, music, books, educational content, travel planning and research. Is all your home time spent with a paper book, downloaded music and or in complete silence by yourself?
Welcome new friend! And love that you are turning the wheels to simplify your life. So my phone has unlimited data so I can use as much internet as I need. I’ll watch maybe 1-2 movies per month on my phone, music is almost always daily and that’s a mix of streaming and old playlists I have downloaded from the iPod days lol. I’ll read when I feel like it, I just always donate books when I am finished. And any practical internet needs like bills, email, booking plane tickets, researching etc I do all on my phone. Hope this helps!
@@Exploravore Thank you for the thoughtful reply. That sounds very reasonable, I have unlimited cellular as well, I just need to be a little more disciplined about mindless scrolling but in the big picture Im much more intentional than most and mindless social media does not hold my attention for long. Namaste my friend, I’ve watched through the majority of your videos while having a quiet day and look forward to your future posts. @CorrieCharlotte yes a good thing to give new life to something already in production. If you can find second hand shoes that are still in good condition and actually fit right then this is good ❤️

Hey, love your videos, I am drawn to the Vikings as well, I resonate with you a lot. I too really struggle with leather, I’ve recently bought a new pair of vegan leather boots and they just don’t feel as good quality as the leather ones but as a vegan, I just don’t feel I can buy leather but I completely get where you are coming from and I feel that conflict for the environment. Xx
I’ve touched on this in a few vids. As far as minimalist logistics, While I wouldn’t need my partner to be exactly like me, he would definitely need to be minimal ish and not swept up in consumerism otherwise it would be too different of value systems. As for the dating scene in general, I have a video titled “I’ve been celibate for 4 years. Here’s why..” if you want to check that out ❤️
I am new here. I love your channel. I found you through another channel that featured you. I post “small retired life” type of content, simple living type of stuff on RUclips and this really resonates with people. I think people in general crave simplicity but are often too overwhelmed and are not sure how to begin to apply that to their own, over-stressed lives. I love the whole sparse aesthetic, though mine is definitely not at your level sparse 😂😂. Atlas Shrugged is my favourite book. Edit: I am from Calgary, Alberta
Going off of what Julianne said, what do you think about extreme minimalism actually being a “disorder” such as the other extreme, hoarding ? Curious on your thoughts about that 😊
People love to label things they don’t understand or don’t want to do as a disorder. Why should it be a disfunction to take only what you need? ….by that line of thinking every other animal in nature is “disordered” then..
Alicia, another great Q and A. Thanks for answering my question about your journal and magazine. Saving the mag for later reading material on a trip sounds like a great idea. You were talking about celebrating holidays and I wanted to share my practice on that. Thanksgiving is the main holiday for me to get together with my grown children to share a meal and talk about the things we are thankful for in the past year. Christmas isn't really significant to me because to me it's just commercialized gift-giving and it really has no significance to me. Plus it goes against my minimalist sensabilities. I have long regarded December 22 as the new year because it has solar significance. The turning point at Solstice is far older and more relevant than the "Christian" establishment calendar. It is the thing that connects the indigenous sustainable ancestors to the rhythms of the earth. Plus it goes along with my love of nordic traditions. To me Jan. 1st is no different than Jan 2nd . Looking forward to your next video Love and peace from the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
You were talking about your conflict as a vegan with using leather clothing or shoes. I was wondering how you would feel about using the skins of animals that died naturally or because of being killed by a car. I wonder if there would be small niche market for this. Just thinking .
Sevgili Alicia. Hoşçakal ❤
Wow! This is such a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing and congratulations to you!! Such a wonderful lesson that when we let go of attachment and focus on living our most authentic lives, what we truly desire will come to us. Blessings to you on your new journey 🙏🏻🩵🦋 I am so very happy for you 💜🩷
ARe you going to offer one on one coaching for minimalism? I am on a roll but the clothes are the hardest for me and I feel like if I had the bare minimum it would feel so empowering.
So at this time I decided the one on one coaching would not be the most powerful use of energy. I’ll always be here to answer Qs and give tips tho. And ultimately for decluttering it has to be YOU that decides what’s right for YOU. I do have 2 vids specifically about clothes: “how I found my authentic style as a an extreme minimalist” & “my top 5 tips for creating an ultra minimalist wardrobe” if you want to check those out ❤️
@bumblebee_ms of course it’s okay! There are loads of other tubers out there that have great and helpful things to say and am always happy to see people in the comments here trying to help each other 🩵🩵
The blue paperblank book reminded me of Harry Potter and Ravenclaw, so I had that for a time. Because its expensive, do you care about what it looks like inside... neat or messy etc?
Haha awesome. And my writing varies- sometimes it’s very aesthetically pleasing, other times if I’m in a creative frenzy it’s all over the place. Doesn’t bother me tho lol
@NoPrince72 yes often! I like the traditional pagan orientation to the winter solstice and making it past the darkest day of the year into new light. A time for deep slowness, stillness, and connection to and reverence for nature 🌲✨

Welcome to the family here! And that’s wonderful you are spreading that message 🙏🏻🌸 PS we are former neighbors I grew up in Edmonton ;)
Looking forward to your next video
Love and peace from the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
You were talking about your conflict as a vegan with using leather clothing or shoes. I was wondering how you would feel about using the skins of animals that died naturally or because of being killed by a car. I wonder if there would be small niche market for this.
Just thinking .
I love celebrating the winter solstice as well ❄️✨ ….and not sure the feasibility of that, though maybe it’s out there?
Hans Zimmer composed Thelma and Louise soundtrack - one of my favourites!
Sevgili Alicia. Hoşçakal ❤
Wow! This is such a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing and congratulations to you!! Such a wonderful lesson that when we let go of attachment and focus on living our most authentic lives, what we truly desire will come to us. Blessings to you on your new journey 🙏🏻🩵🦋 I am so very happy for you 💜🩷
Could you please do a video of what's in your kitchen please?

Oh hello!! It was so nice to meet you!!
Hi Jenn! Was awesome to meet you! You caught me red handed taking all the free fruit samples at Jimbo’s 😄
@@Exploravore As one does! 😂
I do have 2 vids specifically about clothes: “how I found my authentic style as a an extreme minimalist” & “my top 5 tips for creating an ultra minimalist wardrobe” if you want to check those out ❤️
@DC-ef8op Marie Kondo's book was suuuper helpful to me for clothing- hope this helps!😊
Minimal ease (Becky Truda) is also an ultra-minimalist with clothes, check her stuff out (I hope this recommendation is ok Alicia).
NO FAVORITE sound bath artist?!! YOURE NO ULTRA MINIMALIST!! LOL totally kidding! 💜 😂
🤣🤣
very many thanks. this was helpful 🙂hello from sweden but im not a viking 😆😋
Hugs to Sweden 🤗🩷
What do you do on special holidays!
I often like to do silent retreats 🩷
@@Exploravore all holidays!
@NoPrince72 yes often! I like the traditional pagan orientation to the winter solstice and making it past the darkest day of the year into new light. A time for deep slowness, stillness, and connection to and reverence for nature 🌲✨
