On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-18-21.
We’re looking at a 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS in Black Paint. The car features a 454 CI V8 engine, with a 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Bob Inhoff. Bob’s had this car since new. Bob shares he wanted a muscle car that was a little different. Well you don’t see many Muscle Cars with a pickup bed. This one looks showroom new.

A triple black, big block, 4 speed, original owner, mint condition survivor 1970 El Camino!!!
A true UNICORN!!
What a cool ride and owner.
GREAT VIDEO LOU.
Hi TCT9MM, Happy to share this "true UNICORN!!" with you :-) Lou
Just when you think cars like that and there owners were all gone and then Lou brings us another one!! With the right amount of pedals
Hi Bruce, If I can find them, you will see them :-) Lou
I have some familiarity with the 1970 Chevrolet El Camino. During the 1980s and 1990s I worked at Valley Generating Station. One of the workers on my crew had a 1970 Chevrolet El Camino that he had bought brand new in 1970. The Chevrolet El Camino had red paint, it also had the Chevrolet 350 small block V8, it had a three speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. This person used this car as a daily driver. I believe he had the engine rebuilt twice on this car. The engine was originally the high output 350 V8. During one of these engine rebuilds he had lower compression heads installed that had hardened valve seats so that the car could run on unleaded gasoline. He said that the lower compression heads were Corvette heads, that were used on the Corvette engine. When he retired in 1998 he had ordered a new 350 V8 crate engine from General Motors to replace the original engine. This person also installed a sporty sounding exhaust system on his Chevrolet El Camino.

Hi Tpock, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Bob, at the time, would have been wise beyond his years in ordering the ultimate Chevy El Camino with the most desirable (in my view) combination of options, including the model year for starters and SS454, four speed in triple black. Perfection. Congrats, Bob! Thanks Lou for bringing us a very special muscle car. 👍👍
Hi Bruce H., Happy to share this "ultimate Chevy El Camino" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Beautiful ElCamino Lou!!! Great video as always 👍
Hi The Bearded Guy Jeff Lawless, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Appreciate the kind words on this video, Lou

Hi Rudy, Happy to read you enjoy the looks and condition of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Lou, I had one of those that I restored and then sold. It was red with black interior. It had the LS6 454 engine with A/T and 4:11 posi rear differential. It could lass anything on the road other than a gas station. I found mine in western GA. It was near showroom condition when I bought it.
Sergeant Masson, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
As the saying goes: you can't restore em this nice, you can only keep em this nice

For it's age and almost a hundred thousand miles, I can't imagine the amount of maintenance and care it took to keep this car in such good condition.
Hi Restless Classic, Happy to read you appreciate the condition of this car :-) Lou
I worked for a man who had a new ‘70 El Camino but it wasn’t an SS454. What a beautiful car.

Great great great. I met Bob with his original owner El Camino in the late 80's at the Chevelle National Convention. You should have got his business card. It's hilarious. A real live guy. Thnx to Bob for keeping a fine El Camino SS 454 and thnx to you Lou for sharing. Keep doing what you do.
Hi Felix, High praise :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
Incredible El Camino! Fun Car Story too.
Just spectacular condition - looks factory fresh. It’s hard to believe the mileage, it looks more like 80 miles, not 80,000.
I like his magnet trick too.
Thank Lou and Bob!

Never cared for these BUT THAT CAR IS GORGEOUS!!! You can tell he loves his car! 👍 👌 Love how she sits alitte higher in the frint...big block H.D. springs. Beautiful.
Hi John, Happy to read you enjoy this one :-) You're right, Bob loves his car, Lou
Hi, Lou! Always interesting to see an original owner car (or in this case half car, half truck), and it looks like Bob went all out when he ordered this one (holy cow, even a vinyl top)! When you have something as special and unique as this that you order tailor-made just for you, I think it just makes sense to make it a keeper for life! Indeed, Bob has done a splendid job of preserving it for all these years.
Many thanks to you and Bob for spotlighting this legendary muscle machine! And the great car stories just keep on coming! As always, looking forward to the next one!
Hi iswc27, You're right, Bob went all out on this car/truck. Clearly Bob's "forever car/truck". You're welcome, Lou
What a beauty, great stance and period rubber.
Hi Hans, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Lou --- YES --- youve done it again.
Thank you Rick :-)
Beaver Falls is right around the corner from me....nice job Lou!
Glad to read you know where that is. Appreciate the kind words on this job Dan.
Fine looking El Camino. Loaded, looks like he has everything on it but the LS6, 454/450hp. Thanks for the video.
Hi Greg, Happy to read you enjoy the this "fine" El Camino :-) You're welcome, Lou
amazing i noticed that left side AC mounted compressor with the high pressure line routed all the way across the front wich caused the recall on the high pressure line clamp giving room to reach all spark plugs amazing
Hi Scrappy Junk, Thank you for viewing & sharing what you noticed, Lou
A friend of mine got a -81 El Camino. Same year I was born. It is not an SS, but I can tell that the horsies on that one are sick. When he got the original size on the tyres, it will make tyresqueak when the Camino got into the gears, so he got quite big ones on it to reduce RPM's, reduce so the tyres don't starts to spin in every gear it shifts to. Just an amazing car. The colour are gold on it.
Not same condition as this El Camino tho. But if I owned it, I would put clearcoat on it. It is a pure patinalook on his El Camino.
Hi Necronomous, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friends car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Gorgeous car!! Well Done, Mr Bob!! Thx, Lou!!
Hi Pappy Mc, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hi Lu! I'm glad to see you! How are you? Wow! El Camino, SS454 is cool! In a black tailcoat, this sports truck is especially good. Engine sound makes me happy! Thanks to the owner of the car, and to you Lou for an interesting video as always!

Hi JONNIE, High praise :-) Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friends El Camino :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Goodday Lou,
Here in Australia we call a body shape as that Chevelle a Ute.
Whilst Holden was still making car till a couple of years ago the ute was still in production.
There was a SS model still available, Holden is a GM division. The Pontiac GTO that appeared in the USA about 20 years ago was an Aussie build car.
Here it was known as a Monaro.
These Commodore Ute's are highly collectable in Australia & if you Google
Commodore GTSR W1 Ute only 4 were build & one recently sold for over a million dollars.
Back to the Chevelle " Just Amazing ",
love it especially when you find original owners doesn't get better than that.
A real time piece with a great caretaker.
Your number 1 Fan in Australia
Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤
Goodday Louis, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Happy to read you enjoy this "real time piece with a Great Care Taker" :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you. Thanks for being my # 1 Fan in Australia, Lou
That's a beautiful El Camino! The Tuxedo Black paint job looks great, and it being a one owner vehicle, that car has been well taken care of. That 454 with a 4 speed manual transmission makes this El Camino even better!
Hi Michael, Happy to read you enjoy the looks and options chosen on this El Camino :-) Lou
A gorgeous and rare El Camino!!
Hi Thomas, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this El Camino :-) Lou
454 cubic inches: approximately 7,450 liters! I think a lot! Whenever I read about the size of American engines I get this impression... of huge engines... traditionally it's like this!
Hi Vitorio, This is a big engine :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
Amazing, even with the miles he's put on it how it's spotless!
Hi Bob, I agree, the condition of this El Camino is amazing, Lou

Cool looking car. The name El Camino just reminded me of Big Mommas House
Hi FairRodTheCapacitor, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Wow that’s beautiful
Happy to receive a "Wow" regarding the looks of this car :-)
Another great video Lou don't see many SS El Caminos out there especially SS 454 4 speed ones. I always wondered if those trailer hitches were factory options on them. I have seen quite a few El Caminos at car shows over the years that had those on them. But I didn't know if those were factory or aftermarket. Always good seeing these original owner cars also.
Hi PlymouthDuster225, A rare El Camino indeed. I'd guess the trailer hitch is an option, however hoping a Viewer with knowledge can share. Lou
Stunning.

Jaja. ¡Saludos, y cuídate!

Fully watched and liked.

Just great an original owner big block "SS" 4 sp car that just loves his car. His car is a Z-15 OR AN LS-5 454 hydraulic lifter engine. If you wanted A/C as he did then the LS-6 could't be ordered. Yes there were 2 hood designs.
Happy to read "Just great" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing.
hi lou, i love these el caminos (along with the rancheros of course), i see these more of a pick-up than the new ones today, even the new big ones have smaller beds, (now it seems are being made for more people rather than cargo), this is both, simple, comfortable, fast, and very capable hauling too! beautiful el camino what an awesome keepsake! thanx lou!
Hi Mouse, Happy to read you "love" these El Caminos :-) Here is a Ranchero I think you'll enjoy, Lou ruclips.net/video/0DM7UwPvALQ/видео.html

Now i'm confused Lou are you finally doing videos of classic trucks.
Hi C.J CJ, Thank you for sharing you've had 6 of them. Clearly cars are what I video, however every now and then something will sneak in that might not be a car. Lou
