    I’ve loved Chronoswiss from their beginning although I think regulators dominate their current line up a little too much.
    The ultimate art deco watch - the Chronoswiss Imperia (my choice) and Imperator (too large for me) in white gold, salmon dial, and blued steel dial hardware. Damn, I wished they still made these or would reintroduce them! I’d buy one in a heartbeat.
    I would also go nuts over a Chronoswiss Opus with just three hands and no complications. The Opus in pictures looks like just another skeleton watch. In person I think it’s stunning. And I think a three-handed version would be even more so as my philosophy on skeletons is that “less is actually more”.

    Great show. Sorry, I couldn't watch it live.
    Do you like the Montblanc 1858 The Unveiled Timekeeper?
    Big fan of those minerva chronographs.

    After 10 years in the hobby I have soured of where the market is headed. I’ve consolidated down to 2 sentimental watches (JLC and Rolex GMT) and have no intention to add more.
    I praise Tim and his focus on knowledge vs. trinkets. The industry is broken!

    Tag was my intro into luxury watches. My father had a Rolex growing up, but I thought Tag was the sportier alternative. When traveling abroad in Switzerland in 2006, I fell in love with the WAF2112 with blue dial. That was my graduation present and my daily wear for 10 years or so (through wedding, first job, child's birth) until I fell off the deep end regarding watches. Still have that watch in rotation!

    The Chopard Alpine Eagle is nice but I cannot get past the Roman numerals on the dial and $22K, while appropriately priced for what you get with two Geneva seals, it at a competitive price point.

    Watchbox is great!! Sadly I'm considering leaving the hobby. Brands have been increasing prices way beyond the rate of inflation. It feels like they're mugging my aspirations. IWC comes to mind - but they all seem to be doing it. Down with the corporate luxury brands - go value from here on out

    • @davidr2802
      @davidr2802 Год назад +2

      I suspect it is a combination of both recently increased prices and the fact that during lockdown a lot of money flowed into watches because it had nowhere else to go and that has created a higher recent floor for prices.

      I hear you, though pre-owned is always an option. Unless the watch falls into hype category, with patience you can usually snipe some great deals from people desperate to dump their watches.
      But yeah, the msrp on some of the watches coming out now are head scratchers. It makes me think about the industry longevity, and are the younger generations really willing to keep all these companies afloat.

    • @Milofchg
      @Milofchg Год назад +4

      It’s not so much the price… even though prices have gone up. What drives me away from the “community” is the hype aspect in watch collecting. Way too many noobs influencing prices. I went back to a personal hobby. As much as watch meet ups are. The toxic negative outweighs the purists in watch collecting.

      @@Doggo-frencton Exactly... I do appreciate the old world artisan craftsmanship. Other than that, those watches are really delicate and unwearable for every other day use.

      I'll never look like those guys in turtle necks since I assume that level of uniformity is a conscious decision. Most of what I wear on the show isn't planned or outfitted. I just get dressed for the day and turn on the camera.
      Best,
      Tim

    Anything else to pay attention to with Chopard? Besides the Alpine Eagle and some Mille Miglia models, nothing else has ever really stood out to me.
