I literally feel like I'm the only nerd out here running an entire 14 pedal board into my Kemper Stage. I absolutely LOVE doing this. I am one of the very few that as an apartment player, I traded all my tube amps out to get some cash and a Kemper for the great tones of my amps at literally any volume. I keep running my same board, as I just don't feel like I'm doing it right without my board on the floor.
Initially I was scared as hell that the Kemper wouldn't take my board too well. I have 2 chains of pedals with drives, modulation, boosts, reverb, delay, weird stuff. Its all there. And I'm going to go as far as to say that I kind of feel as though the Kemper takes every pedal BETTER than any amp I've ever plugged them into. The signal seems cleaner, the effects don't change sound from amp to amp, and it doesn't matter if I'm running a clean Twin, or a fully dimed Mesa, the effects are always present, and always consistent.
I think a lot of folks just drop the idea of pedals because the Kemper does offer great effects built in, and even makes it intuitive to use them in any rig or scenario. But to me, half of my sound comes from my pedals and it doesn't seem to feel right doing it that way for me. But I feel like this would be a great video idea for you to cover, is not just drives into the Kemper, but running a complete board into it as well. I think its totally applicable, and in fact, in almost every case, my pedals are more consistent and better sounding through it too for that matter.

Can you explain how i should connect the analog pedals going into the kemper please? I just built a board and am unsure how to link everything together

@brendonlima9939 it all depends on what all you have on your board. For me I seperate everything into 2 chains. One chain that runs from the guitar, to my wah, keeley compressor, Timmy V3 OD, JHS Bonsai, Duke of Tone, keeley Dark Side, lastly a Walrus Audio Lillian Phaser (typically some folks would say to run modulation, aka this phaser oedal in the effects loop, i choose not to. I like the sound more.), that goes into the input of the kemper. The second loop runs from the send of the effects loop on the kemper into a Boss BF3 Flanger, Fulltone DejaVibe MKII, Walrus Audio Julia Chorus, Boss DD-500, Walrus Audio SLÖ Reverb, Strymon Flint, lastly a JHS Clean boost for volume, that goes into the return of the effects loop on the kemper.
In terms of order to keep it short since you have an effects loop on the kemper, it's best to utilize it, so in terms of stuff that sits between your guitar and the input of the effects loop it would be like Guitar>Wah>Compressor>Drives>Modulation>input on kemper
The effects loop chain will look much like this Send of effects loop on kemper>modulation)delay>reverb>tremolo>boosts>return of effects loop on kemper.
Some pedals like EQ don't necessarily have a "spot" in the order most folks tend to go by. And by the same notion, you can really order any pedals however you want to, experiment, have fun, but at the same time, I think the above layouts can get you what you're looking for.
If this is hard to understand, just do some research on how to order guitar pedals, and how to use an amps effects loop. Learning how to use the effects loop on an amp is the same as using it on the kemper, so thankfully like with ordering your pedals, you can find lots of help outside of this as well that will help you greatly!
      Cheers!

Thanks for the helpful information. I was trying to find out if it was OK to use an OD in front of the Kemper. Sounds like we're good to go.

Your description of the Definition Control sounds like the presence control on Fender Amps, which is feedback from the output back into the previous stage.

Try a Tumnus Deluxe into the Kemper. Gives a big boost in volume with full, fat drive.

I love your Kemper videos, I watch them even though I don't have one, I try to use the same techniques and philosophies you share and apply it to my tone but if there's any chance I'd really like to see some HXS content too. Like tips and tricks similar to what you do for Kemper?

Very good. Quite 'nerdy', but at last I'm starting to understand how the KPA input really works!

    Hi,
I recently built a Kemper rig that profiles my amplifiers on clean/breakup setting and adds all modulation/wet effects. I create all overdrives effects through ToneX via distortion loop. This sounds really great. However, I encountered a problem: sometimes (not always) when turning on the drive on Tonex, there is a loud shot lasting a fraction of a second. I don't know what the issue could be or how I could fix this problem. The sound itself when playing is really great, but that shot is something that really bothers me when playing live.
I will be grateful for any help. Thanks!

Not finished watching yet, but I really want to be able to run a Boss SD-1 and Rat into the front of a Kemper running a JCM800 profile for 80s tones. Is this possible or am I better served with an actual JCM with something like an Ox Box?

Phenomenal! I’ve got to get that Broken Arrow!

Such good stuff on learning how to mix pedals with the Kemper.
Personally, with the Broken Arrow not being able to be midi controlled, I don't think this would be a good fit for me. It doesn't really matter to me if it can do lots of different types of boosts and clipping if I can't access it on the fly. It would become a set and forget kinda thing, which kind of destroys what sets it apart from others. Still though, I have to admit it does sound great!
Thanks for the great content, my dude.

So you run in line straight to the input? Not the fx loop?

“Compressor” parameter in amp section set to 0 works best for me when using pedals in front of the Kemper.

I’m just not so sure Kemper will ever or I ponder to think “if they should” add more drive or gain pedals to future updates. Why might you ask? When we start out on electric guitar some of the first pedals that ever get bought are drive, gain, distortion pedals. I never bought a distortion but we are drawn to the dirt. Especially the younger player. We like our drive pedals. The last 2 pedals I’ve bought were Wampler Pantheon and a Kingtone Duellist. We genuinely FEEL good putting s pedal in front of even a profiler. BTW the Kingtone Duellist is a secret weapon pedal. Its magic. 🤩 don’t tell anybody.
