this connect across Kra is limited to only container traffic. Oil tankers, gas tankers, and bulk carriers will have to use the malacca

China will definately finance and build this project under its BELT iniatiative. Indians also can gain from these new access to thailand, vietnam, korea, china, japan ,phillipines for trade. China will definately boost its naval presence in Hambontota to safeguard its interests.. Any mischief by indians from will be dealt from Hambontota and the chinese are reported to be developing a naval base in coco island which is a stone throw away from Andaman😛

Malaysia is already ahead of Thailand in this regards. ECRL is another route to bypass the Malacca straits. Thailand plan is hard sell

States of West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu in any case are not blocked out of South East Asia even now. They do not need the Kra canal/ artery.

Tell me again how this benefits China more than Myanmar corridor and Gwadar port? China will support KRA initiative but it will be just 1 of many to 'bypass' the Malacca strait

Useless project! There is no way in heck road transport can save money over shipping.

Commercially this project may not offer much opportunity for China to hedge .. rather it could b a challenge to India's Andaman Naval base similar to the port china is helping to build in Myanmar...

This KRA Land Bridge is a mini copy of US-India's sponsor version of Indian-Saudis Sea and Indian Land Bridge trade routes to other parts of Asia / Europe. It's an idea that is destined for DOA, unless it's meant to serve small volumes of goods.

  • @tommypaget2294

*****no sir, the land-bridge IS NOT, NOT, a scaled-down version of the Kra Canal…..it’s different!!!….many Thais are duped into this idea, too!!! No, sir, it isn’t a scaled-down version of the Kra Canal!!!
Imagine, that I have a logistics company (that transports parcels), then, to save costs, I decided not to buy trucks for my logistics, business…..instead, I’m so cleaver to use the internet to transport goods for my customers, instead??!!😳😳🧐🙁…..how?…..simple, for example, if they have to send a letter to their friends/family…..simply tell us what’s in the letter, then, we’ll use internet to type in your message, and it’ll be printed out at the other end…..ok, great…..now, what if we have goods to transfer??…..well, it’s not possible, sir…..so, please just stick to simple letters???😂😂😳😞🤪🤪😂😂……it’s gonna be a highway connecting the 2-ports…..so, if there’s war, is the Indian navy (US Navy, Chinese navy, for that matter), gonna drive their ships on the highway from Andaman sea to the Gulf of Thailand???!!!……lol lol🤪🤪😂😂……however, if they dug an actual canal??…..now, that’s a whole new ballgame……I’m a Thai person, by the way****

China already had railway on the doorstep at Thailand in NOng Khai border. While India still 1500km away to Thailand

  • @tommypaget2294

*****at around **23:00**…..you mentioned the system for this land-bridge…..that is, the ship docks on one side (say the Andaman seaport), unloads its cargo onto trucks, driven across the peninsula, then, uploaded on to another ship? Right?…….ok, it’s be real about this…..the Thai land bridge was meant to compete against Singaporean ports, that is it takes around 4 days for ships to round the Striat of Melacca……the Thai Kra canal was meant to shorten this time to 1 day. Unloading a freighter Ship (oil tanker) takes 3 days…….deucen acriess, 7 hours, and uploaded, another 3 days!!…..so, it takes 6 days and 2 ships??!!!….instead of 4 days and 1 ship??!!😳😳🤪🤪🧐🧐😂😂……so, Mersk or Evergreen needs 2 ships, instead of just 1, to pull this off…..who’s dumb enough to waste more money and more time??!!🤪🤪😂😂😳😳****

India needs to get more nuanced and subtle in the next phase of its success story. Lets all stop being crude and use our intellectual strength instead. Time for implementing more sophisticated statecraft. We need to learn this from US and especially UK. Just reading Arthashastra is usless if we dont implement it in our day to day lives

I hope you ask searching questions of Mr. Gokhale and don't let him get away with suggesting India letting China a walkover is the best policy prescription for India.

Idea-wise, it is 100% possible from Engineering perspective .
But Reality is Extremely Unlikely to succeed as follows (Thai agents pls forward this message to your king)
    1. Thailand has regular power change. Just wait for the next election for this project to be scrapped.🤣
    2. Democracies cannot make this project a success. *Only China can.*
    3. Thailand is Poor.
    4. Too much Corruption. This point alone guarantees no success is possible.
So while technically Thailand can be prosperous with Kra Land Bridge, Reality is Thailand itself Guarantees Failure❤
