Way to go Jarang!! I knew you would start doing things on your own. Just wait till uour next surgery and they get the hernia than you will go-go-go! Thank you AT for such a wonderful video!! Thank you for making it longer.
Oh my gosh!!! Happy little Jarang, almost always wearing a little bit of woodwool, is crawling and climbing!!! Nothing stops his determination. Thank you Ape Tracker for this longer video of the sweetest little Orangutan!!!
He is doing so well considering his limitations. I’m thankful that Blackpool has been consulting with vets and experts to determine what to do to help him. Hopefully, after his 2nd surgery, his leg strength will improve. He’s obviously eating well and his weight looks good for his size. Keep at it Jarang, you will get there eventually.
Thanks, AT❤ Jarang’s determination is so heartening. His coordination seems to be much improved: he has a mean crawl. It made me smile to watch him go as he made a beeline for the fence. 🦧🧡😀
Effort, resilience, never giving up❤. Jarang was an inspiration today to my brother who is in hospital recovering from a broken hip! Jarang showing that whatever hurdles you face, never give in😊
Amazing❣️🤩 He actually got off the ground at one point and was clutching the wire with all four limbs. What a little superstar! 👏⭐️ I really don’t think that there’s anything wrong with Jarang’s mental abilities - you can tell that he has a plan in his wee head for what he wants to do (grab the rope or climb up the wire), but the poor little fellow has trouble getting his limbs to cooperate. He is as alert and curious as any other infant orangutan, and I’d say even more focused and determined because physical activities are that much harder for him - and yet he keeps on trying! His perseverance is admirable - it brings tears to my eyes.🥹 Thanks so much AT for letting us share Jarang’s incredible journey. It’s wonderful to see him getting stronger and overcoming so many challenges. 🙏❤️🤩

I would also love to brush Jaraang's hair as it is so unruly and lovely. Thank you for this video. I know that Jarang will get the climbing down pat with time and effort.
Wow look at him!! He crawled over to the cage bars like he was on a mission. He has so much determination. Jingga better start preparing cuz if this 2nd surgery is successful, he's gonna be all over the place! I was so amazed & engaged into the video that I found myself talking to my laptop saying "Come on Jarang/little guy you can do it & also saying go go go." 😂😂😂 Thank you for this awesome video & can't wait to see more!!❤❤❤❤

Seems to me baby Jarang is a lot weaker on his left side than his right. Wondering how the zoo is working with this little guy to make sure he builds strength, climbing skills and confidence.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with him -brain function, palsy or whatever. He’s fine. The zoo says Jingga left him because she knew he was safe on his own. Jarang didn’t know he was safe. His body was stiff and tense, limbs clenched, hands and feet in tight fists (he looked scared). How could he learn how to move his body, when that’s his life?
@JennyMiller-rt4ue didn't mean to imply something wrong, just laughing with him as he grows into his body :) As with babies of many species, the brain is sometimes ahead of the motor skills :)
I love these little guys. I like watching them learn new things and mom is always very patient with them. And they do everything with a smile. And that wild hair! ❤
@shawna6683 I saved it too. Jingga kept trying to pull Jarang off the fence because he was high up but he wouldn't let go. Every time Jingga would gently remove one hand, he would grab hold of the fence with his other hand. He was determined to climb. It really was encouraging to see.
He’s too cute and determined to do more things. But for 18 months…. I think there’s more wrong with him than just a hernia. Someone told me he had a neurological disorder like cerebral palsy. If that’s correct, then that little guy is doing great. He needs more hugs.

@@losalo22 Blackpool Zoo have taken the advise and expertise of primate and veterinary experts in the UK and worldwide to devise a plan of care for this baby and his mother, he is having the very best of care to help his development including another planned surgery
Love BOS and Budi is a hoot. Watching Benny’s antics was hilarious. We don’t know what all is happening with Jarang behind the scenes. Maybe he’s making the progress he has because of the help he’s received and the love of his mom. Hopefully watching Rufus as he develops will also help.
I still think a lot of his motor problems are due to the inguinal hernias. He is trying to climb and sit up so mentally he knows what to do. I am hoping and praying that once the surgery is performed and he has recovered that we will see a healthy strong unstoppable Jarang. Jingga loves him and has never abandoned him. She is caring for her precious baby the best way she can. I'm not a vet. This is just my opinion. He is the sweetest most beautiful baby orangutan I've ever seen. ❤❤❤
BOS are brilliant but a flight across the world wouldn't be good for the little guy, and they already have a lot on their plate. Jarang is already past the hardest part of his life so if Jingga hasn't rejected him yet I doubt she ever will
Primates usually reject their young as infants when they are first born. Jarang is over a year old. If Jingga was going to reject Jarang she would have already done it. There are a lot that goes on in Jingga and Jarang's lives that you don't see in these videos. Other viewers who have visited Blackpool Zoo in person have stated that Jarang has been crawling for a few months now and he's already climbing. Jingga is limited as a primate mother of a special needs infant. She's done the best that she can under the circumstances and now Jarang is getting stronger day by day. Hopefully, his next surgery will be successful. But if not, Jarang is well-loved and cared for by both Jingga and Blackpool Zoo.
I kept saying his problem isn't the hernia. Yes I'm sure it makes things different but it's obvious his legs work just fine. He's just developmentally slow mentally. But he's getting there.
There is no evidence of his having any mental issues. The zoo has biologists, veterinarians, and medical specialists that have been working with Jarang's condition for more than a year now. They know exactly what they are dealing with and they have no reason whatsoever to lie about his condition. Clearly you have a computer or phone and are able to do some googling. Try some searching about scrotal hernia and you will find that all the issues this little guy has are clearly issues that are very typical of scrotal hernias. Unfortunately his first surgery was not successful, but they are not giving up and they will try another surgery as soon as he is sufficiently healed and ready for it and they can get their specialist team all available at the same time. This video shows much improvement in spite of his original surgical outcome not being successful. He is determined and demonstrates that he has all the proper instincts that a normal baby Orangutan should have.
Mother Orangutans NEVER leave their babies alone for this length of time.. they are excellent mothers who constantly are holding them or sitting next to them.. never like this.
Poor little guy has the right idea - he is just in the wrong spot. Where the cage doors meet there is nowhere to put a tiny foot! He need to move over to his right. He will figure it out, I am sure! (7:43)
