Yes. You cannot jump into V3. The intro cutscene will spoil events of the first two games as well as anime and the side game. All of Danganronpa is amazing and worth your time, but I cannot recommend you start with V3.

I personally really could not be bothered to watch the Danganronpa 3 anime and went from 1 to 2 to V3 just fine. Tylo Yeah, you really ought to play Danganronpa 1 and 2 first. Both are great games in their own right though. The Danganronpa 3 anime is directly linked to those games, but is kinda optional to see, as I personally didnt bother and understand the series just fine. There's also another side game, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls which falls between 1 and 2, but is a totally different genre side game and definitely is entirely optional (and despite being a midquel actually spoils some of future games)

Not really. Not only are there quite a few shmup fangames, but there's also the fighting games (IaMP, SWR, UNL, HM, ULiL and AoCF) which are both canon and official.
Well if they don't really care and let everyone do whatever then they basically aprove of it, and if they get judged for something they don't care about but still had their brand put on it then it's their fault and the bad publicity is well earned

The creator supports this to the extent that he allowed certain fangames to get officially licensed and published on consoles which lead to them getting localized here in the west (while the official games haven't), including the one listed in your vid. Idk how much that helps to explain things but that's the gist of it. Also, nice GOTY pick, it's cool to see that game get some appreciation.
Yes, but there's no (official) English localisation or translation, which is what happened when playism released an earlier game in the west via their own website a few years back as well. That said, one of the fighting game spin-offs (which are developed by another fan group but are considered canon as opposed to fangames - it's weird) was also released on steam and is supposed to be getting an official translation at some point apparently? So that's something.

I love Danganronpa! Honestly didn't think it would make the list given how polarizing parts of it were. You did have a spoiler in the video though. Also for the Berserk musou game, if you see it as an adaptation of the recent Berserk anime, it's actually pretty faithful.

LONG time Touhou fan Yes the Touhou Fighting game V . . with the arbitrary long title is just . . bad ( on any platform ) But please, dear GOD please, remember that it was a FAN MADE GAME AND NOT OFFICIAL. . AT ALL. The OFFICIAL Touhou fighting games are literally moving art with well made mechanics, a good competitive fallowing, and a lot of fun. MOST Fan games for Touhou are actually REALLY GOOD. Like - beyond the ability of most developers good for whatever messed up reason beyond my comprehension, GOOD. I highly recommend looking into the other games ( Even if you're not a Touhou Fan . . yet . ) they would be well worth the time to get. If you want a GOOD Touhou Fighting game, Touhou Hisoutensoku ( also just called Touhou 12.3 ) is probably one of the best ( IMO ) but there are others with amazing art, music, game play and fun / interesting stories as touhou is known for.
Touhou Doujin game makers are gods sometimes. Touhoumon which were Touhou inspired ROM hacks of Pokemon FireRed (and I think Emerald) spun off into their own self contained game called Touhou Puppet Dance Performance and it's like really fucking good with amazing sprite work for all the characters. Like what? How does this happen? Touhou game makers, I love you.

Disagree on the Berserk Musou one but I do agree that it's been around long enough to warrant more than just a decent Musou game as one of the better examples of a Berserk game, and I'd probably only get that Street Fighter II port if it was cheap but $40 is pushing it
Eh, as someone who likes both Musous and Berserk; It's a very watered down Musou. It plays better on Console but the PC port was plagued with issues, the loading times almost rival Bloodborne's at launch, some characters are downright unplayable as far as mechanics go and their roster of playable characters is really, really lacking. It's very faithful to the manga and well animated but that's the best it has going it. It's not awful but Berserk really deserves better.
About touhou games its just companies like NISA bringing some doujin (indie) games into the west, you'd rather play the official games by Team Shanghai Alice.
There are some really fucking good touhou fangames, like The Genius of Sappheiros. Too bad most of them won't get an official release in the West (but this is what fan translators are for)
The Disappearing of Gensokyo was surprisingly fun, considering its basically Enter The Gungeon plus Hotline Miami but it has lolis. And I'm still waiting for a Gensou Rondo port on Switch.

FYI, the new translation patch for Ys 8 was quietly released on 1/30/18 and is a notable improvement and had new voice acting with generally better direction, this far (I'm replaying it to see what's changed). The biggest changes so far are a couple of villagers having their names changed ("Catherine" -> "Kathleen," for example) and the clunky "Ancient Species" being replaced with the more flowing "Primordials." As this is New Game Plus, my Journal can also confirm that a certain area inexplicably localized as "[Pseudo-Spoiler] Big Hole" (despite the Japanese version having an English subtitle that called it "[Pseudo-Spoiler] Crevice," IIRC) is now called "[Pseudo-Spoiler] Chasm."
Dude, Austin. Just a heads up. You are probably gonna get a lot of "Eww" towards DRV3 as your GOTY. Its so divisive due to its ending. Which was one of my favorite ending of the year in any games I played.
People were divided by the ending, sure, but i haven't seen a single person say that the whole game is bad because of it, in fact everyone seems to love the game, just half of the people don't like the ending (well except for TheRPGMinx, who didn't like Shuichi as a protagonist, so she just stopped playing it after first chapter)

Agreed! I like BOTW, but I think it's being over-praised simply because it's a step in the right direction for the series, and fans want to make it clear that it's closer to what they want. But I think the weapon durability alone makes Mario Odyssey overtake it as my GOTY. I simply think MO did a better job of fulfilling its objective as a game than BOTW did.
I personally found V3 to be absolutely amazing, loved the characters, loved the story, ofc hated a few characters, but in the way that you would hate them as a person, not as an inanimate figure that makes you think why the creator made it... However, the ending completely and utterly shat over all of the enjoyment I had with the game. (Not going to spoil it any more than this tho)

I think calling the artists "horny" for designing a sexual character is unnecessary. Everyone has a sex drive (well almost everyone) and most people would want to design a character that looks appealing to them. Even Yoko Taro designed 2B specifically to have the perfect ass to look at. No one would call him horny for that because that art style isn't "anime" enough. I do agree that Pyra's design should have been better, but calling the artist horny is being too dismissive of a design we may not like.
The reason why that's a terrible argument is because most anime artists have drawn hentai at some point in their career. Drawing nudity helps with body proportions. This "hentai artist" business is blown way out of proportion and has given the game unnecessary negative reputation that most Japanese developed games also would have. You can't honestly tell me that Xenoblade 2's artist is "horny" when Yoko Taro asked people to send him 2B lewds and give that a pass. It's hypocritical. While we're at it, what about Ann's phantom design in Persona 5. Wearing bright red latex with a very obvious cleavage hanging out when her entire character is she hates being sexualized is contradictory don't you think? Yet most people give that a pass because her boobs aren't huge. Xenoblade 2 isn't the only game that suffers from Japanese anime design philosophy, yet people keep shitting on it while giving other Japanese games a pass because their female lead doesn't have massive boobs. I understand the criticism, but I also see the hypocrisy in this type of mindset.
Yami Let me start by saying that you are right about Ann's design and people give Taro a pass because he is weird.I mentioned the hentai artist to explain why people would say horny and as a joke. My dad is an artist so I've never had a problem with drawn nudity and understand a naked or skimpy drawing doesn't mean horny artist or bad artist. With Pyra, her boobs being big lead to people noticing that first when looking at her, making it something they latch on too(compared to Ann's mask and 2B's eyepatch and white hair). Xenoblade Chronicles not having that artstyle and Pyra being one of the first characters shown, with a design that would only be in an anime style, didn't help either. Finally, as Austin put it, her design doesn't mesh with her personality or add to it from what I have gathered.
My GOTY was definitely BotW. I love P5 and Odyssey to death, but BotW is on a whole different level. P5 is my number 2 and Odyssey is my number 3 though. Injustice 2 is number 4.
AH silver Kamiya has done more than Bayonetta you know, he also directed Resident Evil 2 and Okami, a survival horror game and a Zelda style adventure game, he's also shown interested in working on a Berserk game so why not?
That you mentioned, is actually a fan game that's given permission to be sold on a console. Barring one exception, all the console touhou games are. I'm not even kidding. Touhou fans can really make some high quality/professional level stuff when it comes to fan works. However, if you're ever curious about the official stuff, don't be afraid to ask.
If you've got the time, the newer Touhou wiki ( en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Touhou_Wiki ) or TV Tropes can show you all of the Touhou girls. The official games (by ZUN, the series' creator) are shmups, shmup spin-off titles (there's one where you take photos of bullet patterns, and another one where you dodge "impossible" patterns) or fighting game titles. They're numbered, with Touhou 1-5 being PC-98 games and Touhou 6-16 being Windows games, and spin-offs have decimal places added to their numbers (ex: 14.5 is a fighting game spin-off, and 12.8 is a shmup spin-off). Touhou 6, 7 and 8 are probably the easiest games to start with, but Touhou 10 is pretty easy as well. No idea for the last two questions. ZUN is just really great at composing music.

PLEASE don't let that Touhou arena fighter be your only experience with the series. Play Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, it's the first of the modern era titles. I don't know your skill level with shmups, but the easiest game, and I think my favorite, is Imperishable Night.
Or go play one of the really damn good official fighting games. My personal recommendations would be Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and Urban Legend in Limbo.
In retrospect, there's a distressing lack of Spider-Sonic ga Gotoku: Odyssey of the Wild Automata in the Night Sky, which I believe was localized under the name "Gravity Rush 2" for some reason.

Ys 8 on the psvita is a really solid port that I can’t recommend enough if you like a good rpg on the go, also I really recommend checking out 999 and all they games in zero escape, it’s by some of the same people behind danganronpa and I personally prefer it to danganronpa

Hayden Hyde As a Touhou fan, I've gotta say, Kobuto V: Burst Battle is a little... underwhelming. It's okay once you get into it and get a feel for the controls, but I feel that if you aren't a Touhou fan going into it, it'll be boring. Honestly, for a good Touhou Fangame, I'd suggest Scarlet Curiosity or Gensou Wanderer. They have exploration going for them, at least.

It plays better on Console but the PC port was plagued with issues, the loading times almost rival Bloodborne's at launch, some characters are downright unplayable as far as mechanics go and their roster of playable characters is really, really lacking.
It's very faithful to the manga and well animated but that's the best it has going it. It's not awful but Berserk really deserves better.
About touhou games its just companies like NISA bringing some doujin (indie) games into the west, you'd rather play the official games by Team Shanghai Alice.
There are some really fucking good touhou fangames, like The Genius of Sappheiros. Too bad most of them won't get an official release in the West (but this is what fan translators are for)
Some of the fangames are simply amazing. Fantasy Maiden Wars, Koumajou Densetsu and Takkoman are my favourites.

FYI, the new translation patch for Ys 8 was quietly released on 1/30/18 and is a notable improvement and had new voice acting with generally better direction, this far (I'm replaying it to see what's changed).
The biggest changes so far are a couple of villagers having their names changed ("Catherine" -> "Kathleen," for example) and the clunky "Ancient Species" being replaced with the more flowing "Primordials." As this is New Game Plus, my Journal can also confirm that a certain area inexplicably localized as "[Pseudo-Spoiler] Big Hole" (despite the Japanese version having an English subtitle that called it "[Pseudo-Spoiler] Crevice," IIRC) is now called "[Pseudo-Spoiler] Chasm."

Which was one of my favorite ending of the year in any games I played.
People were divided by the ending, sure, but i haven't seen a single person say that the whole game is bad because of it, in fact everyone seems to love the game, just half of the people don't like the ending (well except for TheRPGMinx, who didn't like Shuichi as a protagonist, so she just stopped playing it after first chapter)

Agreed! I like BOTW, but I think it's being over-praised simply because it's a step in the right direction for the series, and fans want to make it clear that it's closer to what they want. But I think the weapon durability alone makes Mario Odyssey overtake it as my GOTY. I simply think MO did a better job of fulfilling its objective as a game than BOTW did.

I personally found V3 to be absolutely amazing, loved the characters, loved the story, ofc hated a few characters, but in the way that you would hate them as a person, not as an inanimate figure that makes you think why the creator made it... However, the ending completely and utterly shat over all of the enjoyment I had with the game. (Not going to spoil it any more than this tho)

I think calling the artists "horny" for designing a sexual character is unnecessary. Everyone has a sex drive (well almost everyone) and most people would want to design a character that looks appealing to them. Even Yoko Taro designed 2B specifically to have the perfect ass to look at. No one would call him horny for that because that art style isn't "anime" enough. I do agree that Pyra's design should have been better, but calling the artist horny is being too dismissive of a design we may not like.
Yami While I haven't played the game and her design is far from the worst, "horny artist" is accurate since she was designed by a hentai artist.
The reason why that's a terrible argument is because most anime artists have drawn hentai at some point in their career. Drawing nudity helps with body proportions. This "hentai artist" business is blown way out of proportion and has given the game unnecessary negative reputation that most Japanese developed games also would have. You can't honestly tell me that Xenoblade 2's artist is "horny" when Yoko Taro asked people to send him 2B lewds and give that a pass. It's hypocritical.
While we're at it, what about Ann's phantom design in Persona 5. Wearing bright red latex with a very obvious cleavage hanging out when her entire character is she hates being sexualized is contradictory don't you think? Yet most people give that a pass because her boobs aren't huge. Xenoblade 2 isn't the only game that suffers from Japanese anime design philosophy, yet people keep shitting on it while giving other Japanese games a pass because their female lead doesn't have massive boobs. I understand the criticism, but I also see the hypocrisy in this type of mindset.
Yami Let me start by saying that you are right about Ann's design and people give Taro a pass because he is weird.I mentioned the hentai artist to explain why people would say horny and as a joke. My dad is an artist so I've never had a problem with drawn nudity and understand a naked or skimpy drawing doesn't mean horny artist or bad artist.
With Pyra, her boobs being big lead to people noticing that first when looking at her, making it something they latch on too(compared to Ann's mask and 2B's eyepatch and white hair). Xenoblade Chronicles not having that artstyle and Pyra being one of the first characters shown, with a design that would only be in an anime style, didn't help either. Finally, as Austin put it, her design doesn't mesh with her personality or add to it from what I have gathered.

My GOTY was definitely BotW. I love P5 and Odyssey to death, but BotW is on a whole different level. P5 is my number 2 and Odyssey is my number 3 though. Injustice 2 is number 4.

That you mentioned, is actually a fan game that's given permission to be sold on a console. Barring one exception, all the console touhou games are. I'm not even kidding. Touhou fans can really make some high quality/professional level stuff when it comes to fan works. However, if you're ever curious about the official stuff, don't be afraid to ask.

Play the persona 2 dualogy
If you've got the time, the newer Touhou wiki ( en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Touhou_Wiki ) or TV Tropes can show you all of the Touhou girls. The official games (by ZUN, the series' creator) are shmups, shmup spin-off titles (there's one where you take photos of bullet patterns, and another one where you dodge "impossible" patterns) or fighting game titles. They're numbered, with Touhou 1-5 being PC-98 games and Touhou 6-16 being Windows games, and spin-offs have decimal places added to their numbers (ex: 14.5 is a fighting game spin-off, and 12.8 is a shmup spin-off). Touhou 6, 7 and 8 are probably the easiest games to start with, but Touhou 10 is pretty easy as well.
No idea for the last two questions. ZUN is just really great at composing music.

PLEASE don't let that Touhou arena fighter be your only experience with the series. Play Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, it's the first of the modern era titles. I don't know your skill level with shmups, but the easiest game, and I think my favorite, is Imperishable Night.
Or go play one of the really damn good official fighting games. My personal recommendations would be Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and Urban Legend in Limbo.

When searched up online it’s only listed as an “action/adventure” game, the developers never stated that it was an RPG, and it has nowhere near enough elements to even pass as a full-fledged RPG. Like, I wouldn’t recommend this game to RPG fans anytime soon. Maybe The Witcher 3, but certainly not this.
Ys 8 on the psvita is a really solid port that I can’t recommend enough if you like a good rpg on the go, also I really recommend checking out 999 and all they games in zero escape, it’s by some of the same people behind danganronpa and I personally prefer it to danganronpa
