Traveling to Atlanta as a child to visit my grandmother and Pawpaw, enjoyed seeing the “See Rock City” and Ruby Falls signs along the way. Visited those locations on Lookout Mt. as a child and should take our grandkids there, too. PS Part of my heart still resides in Dixie.💞
Thank You so much for watching! I'm glad you liked the video. I hope you bring your grandkids to this area. I enjoy making occasional vides about our local attractions like Lookout Mountain. If you decide to bring the grandkids this way, join our facebook page (if you haven't already) and contact us for local tourism information that may save money, or give you access to new experiences. @billmarionlife Again, thank you so much for watching!
I'm an info nerd, have lived here most of my life, but did not know many of the facts you presented. Fantastic! I was always skeptical of the 7 states thing!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm surprised I haven't received more negative comments about the 7 states thing. But I think there are a lot people who are skeptical about it. These days, I don't see that claim in their adverts. That's probably a good idea. lol
I was born in Chatt. Tn. Moved to Houston at 6, then after divorce, moved back to Chatt met married my soul mate then moved to beautiful private property on a big ridge at Lookout mtn. foothills in Wildwood Ga. Its my piece of heaven on earth with deer 🦌, foxes, turkeys, bobcats & lots of forest critters. Thanks for this video, although I knew most of the info. I did learn a few things I had no idea about. So interesting about miniature golf ⛳ not actually seeing the 7 states from Rock City & I definitely did not know about the ufo sitings. 👽🛸I'm so glad I found your channel ❤✌😊
@@BillMarion Yes i had seen when it was posted but i like to watch vids from someone like yourself after i subscribe to a channel. I think its great info. Because i did not know several facts you revealed. Thats great you still have kids living here. May God continue to give you blessing.
I’m curious what you mean by spooky government history. 🙂 I’m not sure, but aren’t there parts of this area that are natural granite…there is something about that, I feel. It somehow acts as a communication enhancement, beacon, or enhances the natural energies there I think…not facts, just my opinion
We like going to Mike's Smokehouse near the base of Lookout Mountain. We live in Oregon, but have family very near Chickamauga Battlefield. We will visit again this year. Thanks for sharing.
A quick correction, from a resident, there is still one hotel standing on Lookout Mountain from the era you mentioned. Paul Carter sold the “castle in the clouds” to investors of a university that is now covenant college. In the last 5 years that portion of the campus, once the hotel, has been restored to its original architecture. It houses students in what were once hotel rooms, as well as holding the dining hall or “great hall.” Over the last 60 years the inside of the lobby and dining area have gone largely unchanged. Very cool video though!
Lived in the Tennessee Valley for many years! Love Chattanooga! "Still standing" is inaccurate. I know what I was trying to say (so says everyone lol) but I guess I got it wrong. But honestly, I think my biggest mistake was not doing enough investigation to learn that Covenant was restoring "castle in the clouds." Good for Covenant! I bet it looks amazing. Covenant's Campus is beautiful. I have a few friends who graduated from Covenant. Thank you so very much for watching, and thank you for the information. Correction received! Bill
You forgot to mention that if you aren’t visiting Rock City or Ruby Falls your not wanted up there. Lol. The miniature golf bit was interesting, thank you!
My "Holder" family is from within this area of Lookout Mountain. My grandfather was born 1902 in Ooltewah / Cleveland, while most of his other 13 siblings were born in Cleveland or Birchwood. However, most of grandfather'sthe siblins' childrens are in Chattanooga / Hixson. My aunt, born in Birchwood - 1925, was my grandfather's first born child, has recently passed away Sept 2021 at age 95. She is buried at Chattanooga National Cemetery which was a commemoration of the Battles of Chattanooga, Nov. 23-27, 1863. What I did not know was that this cemetery has a round hill rising with a uniform slope to a height of 100 feet; it faced Missionary Ridge on one side and Lookout Mountain on the other. Gen. Grant established his headquarters on the summit of the hill during the early phase of the four-day battle for Lookout Mountain. I have a cousin that did research of our Holder family and learned that every Holder within Chattanooga are related to us. Matter of fact, every Holder listed as Confedeate soldiers are related to us. Ive been to Lookout Mountain many times and find it so beautiful there.
@Draugr Hessler OH....REALLY ? Your'e a fine one to go around criticizing somebody about anything considering that you don't even know a "damned city" from a "damned state" !
I currently attend covenant college and have been trying to find more facts about it so if any are known or there are places nearby with stuff from when it was a hotel that would be great!
I just now learned about the hotel being converted at Covenant while responding to a different comment. But it seems really interesting! Let us know what you find out! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting! Bill
Bryce, it was built as a luxury hotel and, on the QT. a gambling casino. They had a professional staff of house gamblers back in the 1950s. To keep the "family" atmosphere going, up in the top of the tower was a display of characters from Rock City manning a moonshine still. I saw it when I was about 5 years old and attending a conference there with my family. There was also a lovely outdoor dance floor with band shell below the main building and they had erected a "Paper Moon" over the dance floor. It was a very elegant place and only the wealthy vacationed there. The golf course was a little bit of distance from the hotel itself. Not sure of the build date, though. I was in Chattanooga from birth in 1945 until 1984, but my parents and grandparents had been there all their lives.

Great video. Proud to call Lookout Mountain my home for the past 7 years. I cannot imagine living anywhere else.
Point Park is a must ,so is Clumpies ice cream . Found at the base of the inclined railway unbiased English opinion who loved it there.
We went to Rock City many years ago…and loved it. Dramatic and it had a “home-made” real feel (not like Disney).
I lived on Lookout Mountain on the Georgia side for several years.

They'd get more than half a million visitors a year to Rock City if it wasn't $50 a person to get in
Agree!
We just visited and didn’t pay anything g close to $50 a person. Where did you get that info?
Why didnt you mention Ruby Falls is fake the water stopped a long time ago.
Is this true?
