The 'Dream Of You' intro chords.
'Dream Of You' is a cool gypsy jazz standard that has come into vogue in the last couple of years.
Stochelo Rosenberg loves to play it as does Adrien Moignard which has lead to the tune becoming popular amongst the whole gypsy jazz community.
The song has an intro and outro which feature these cool chords played over a pedal bottom E note and that's what you'll learn in this video lesson.
You need to learn 4 chords.
1. E9
2. E dim (5th fret)
3. Eb dim (4th fret)
4. E6
Learn each chord until it's comfy under your fingers and each note is sounding clearly.
Then play it in time using the bottom E string as a pedal.
Have fun and swing out!
cheers,
Robin

Hello Agent Nolan/Robin. Very nice tune and instruction thereof. By the way, I saw where you were with Mr. Hoter in Tel Aviv. That's a powerful one, two punch of playing gypsy jazz guitar. I've never been there, but I hear it can be a little difficult to find a cold pint of beer there. Off the subject --- I know. Thanks for posting this lesson Robin!

Cheers Steve at your service 😃🎸Robin
Cool!
Are jazz chords always inversions?
any chord is an inversion! Take an open D chord D,A,D,F# that's D major. But D major could also be F#(bottom e string) open D, A and D etc....let me know how you're going with playing chords....don't think too much about the name - think more of the sound and mood - cheers! Robin
I like the idea of a chord having more than one musical meaning...I'd heard of it many years ago, but never found out how to interchange them. That's really cool how the fingerboard gets turned inside out and upside down that way, how something you already "know" is something completely different and apply-able to another completely different style.
absolutely!
