Yeah... I think I would. In fact, a 72 arrived yesterday. I love it. The deciding between the two might be does the 24 fit my PS90 magazines in those side pockets... Because the 72 fits 4 per side.
I’ve had the rush 24 for 10+ years. It was my assault pack for field ops and deployment to Afghanistan, now its my primary travel bag for my wife as i got the rush 72. Great pack for the price.
I cut off all the zipper tabs and replace them with 16” knotted para cord pull tabs (8” when connected) and those zipper flaps that snag when you open it…..those I cut at the ends of each. It leaves the protective material over the zippers but allows enough flexibility to just open quickly as you were trying to demonstrate. The zippers open MUCH EASIER which the 8” para cord leads knotted at the ends for grip. I have done it this way for my 72, 24 and 12 original rush models and now with my 12 and 24 2.0 versions in double tap. I also completely spray the pack with waterproofing spray, to help in rain and make my own flat bottom insert for the bottom of the main compartment. These mods really make this pack perform. All of my packs have lasted years with daily use and expect the same from the 2.0 as well. Great detailed review with a few mods this pack will win anyone over ( my favorite : the 24 as the 12 is too small and the 72 is amazing and huge but slouches over itself after a couple years)👍
I agree, modifications on these bags are incredible. Lots of room for that creative touch. Thank you for commenting, watching, & supporting the channel, man.
I've had a Gen 1 RUSH 24 and used in the military and out and it makes a great pack for everything. This new one looks like they listened and made some good changes. I also have a couple of RUSH 12 packs which I love.
After about 15 years of hard use in all types of situations short of an actual tactical assault, after numerous repairs and stitches, my faithful Rush 24 is ready for retirement to storage and backup status. Scared for the future with the 2.0 but change is constant, gotta adapt to the new generations of this life. Thank you 5.11, what a solid dependable and useful pack.
I have the Rush 24 in the original version as well as the Rush 12. I just recently purchased the Rush 72 in the 2.0 version and I’m a big fan. 5.11 makes some good packs.
I got this pack. It kicks ass. I love the whole line. Mine doesn't have the gun pocket and the laptop pouch is replaced with more webbed and a bungie pouch. I'd say it would meet most normal and military peoples needs for an EDC pack.
The fabric isnt as much of the problem with the dirt as the color is. I’ve got packs made of 1000D cordura and plate carriers in other colors that don’t show/retain the dirt as much, I found out a long time ago there’s two ways to keep black equipment clean. 1 don’t use it. 2 you don’t
I've had my Rush 12 for almost 8 years. It's fantastic. It's the perfect size for me but I do want to pick up the Rush 24 just cause I've had such a good experience with the 12
I have (2) Rush 12 packs and (1) Rush 72 pack and they are bullet proof. I use one for riding my motorcycle and it gets tossed on the concrete at gas stations etc and it still looks new. Great packs.
3:00 Consider these pockets for zippered pouches, with small accessories in them. Pouches are so much better because you can move pouches between bags without having to unload a bunch of tiny items
Can I suggest that you have a pack that you would suggest. One you consider better than this? Your review of this is so in-depth and good that it leaves wondering what pack you would say is better than this. Thank you.
Just bought this fother mucker and hope it's worth all the $130 of it... Hold up! Mines donthave the 8th molley latch on bottom row. Someone forget to sew it in behind the 511 patch. 😢 Still pleased tho😊
I have the original version of this pack in black. As for version 2 I’m not a fan. CCW pocket is not waterproof, really? That pocket is going to fill with water if you are caught out in the rain. They took out the 2 internal pockets to accommodate a laptop pouch. They removed the two drain holes on the main pack section, again really?? They removed the two rubberized patches on the bottom of the pack that rides against your back, not a good move. I know that they listened to their customers and changed the pack. But in reality they strayed from the original job of the pack, a 24 hour pack. You did a great job on your video by the way, just some constructive criticism to 5:11.
Ordered mine on Amazon and it arrives today. Saw your review, and I appreciate your video. Looking forward to using this as my EDC. I ordered a water bottle molle attachment as I don't want to have to go into my bag when I need to grab a drink while wearing the pack. Think I'll possibly end up getting the compression straps as well. Kinda strange design to not add them on the lower end of the pack. Have you had any luck with finding a good belt attachment?
For this pack, no :/ I wish 5.11 offered one you know, for uniformity, but they don't. I currently have First Tactical and they do have a dope belt for their backpacks. By the way, thanks so much for watching and commenting. I hope it helped you in some way. Give Max Effort and Be one with the Iron.
Is there a reasonable explanation why both magazine and magazine are called magazine but they are completed different and obviously unrelated things? They are both items of the modern age, how on earth they are assigned the same noun??
That's a good question. I honestly don't know. I still don't get why they spell it "Colonel" and say it as "Kernell". By the way, thanks for commenting and supporting the channel.
Hi, Danny. Thanks for watching and commenting. I bought this backpack to see if it's the bag for me. Upon receiving it and using, I realized what I liked and didn't like which led to making this review. I no longer have this bag as it did not meet my needs.
@@GabeCuello so have you found a bag for you? Just curious if you did an will review it. Nice video by the way. I bought a rush 72 2.0 a few days ago but would like to get 2 more bags to use as emergency bags to keep in our vehicles
I DID :D well its an addition to my collection. Not an easy thing to be deemed worthy lol. The pack I found and recommend is First Tactical Tactix 38L and 27L. Super cool looking and highest quality I've seen yet. I uploaded the review yesterday. It's a long video but it's not my fault, the bag just has so many hidden features. Also, on the low key, I'm totally with you on being prepared and having gear handy should the occasion present itself. Good on you for thinking ahead. I have to work on that but the Tactix 38L will be my emergency bag while the 27L will be my EDC/RUCK and gym bag.
Hey! Thank you! I was beating myself for it being so long but I know there are people out there that want this type of video (detailed and with plenty of visual images). I appreciate your comment and support, man. Keep rocking!
I bought the pack. I like it but i have few comments to make. 1) I dont like it because the main compartment does not open full, but like 4/5 the way. This does not make easy to open the last compartment and put things inside or take them out. 2) I am not a computer guy, more like outdoor guy, so i dont like the padded compartment for the laptop. Its to thick , not elastic and wastes volume because of this thickness 3) The cvv compartment. i can live without it. I dont like velcro because it has a limited life. when it is done how am i going to close the compartment? 4) At this price i would like to see something like a rubberized bottom, like in falcon 2. I really like a lot the 4 molle at the bottom and the ability to attach a sleeping bag etc.. 5) I would like to see drainholes, but it is not that bad 6) At the bottom no compression straps. I attach a pair of rush tier that i had and it makes a huge different. Overall a really well made pack, allthough 1000d nylon does not feel stiff , especially the straps like in maxpedition falcon 2. Thank you Nice video Gabe
Little update bro, got the pack, it was larger than I anticipated, bit big on my frame specially standing at 5’4 lol. So tried filling up the whole thing, it was bulky there was still enough room so its good for school/gym. Another thing though, one of the reasons why i also both this is because i am planning to convert it into a emergency bag/BOB(future). The Rush 12 would work for school/gym but i was wondering if when i will convert it into emergency bag, would all the necessary items would fit in rush 12. Cause i know the rush 24’s capacity is enough. Thats what im currently debating to myself, either return exchange it or just stick to it lol. Got some words?
I would say get the 12, see if it suits your needs, and experiment with attachments for additional storage. I live these types of bags for creativity and organization. You can always switch out pouches (i.e., first aid kits). However, if you really need more size, then get the 24 on Black Friday :). Of course, that's just my suggestion.

It's a real nice durable bag i got the rush 12 but i stopped using it after a few months because there is no water bottle pockets.... and no i'm not going to spend extra money for a water bottle attachment. With the bag priced that much i would expect atleast one built in water bottle holder, disappointed that the updated 2.0 has no water bottle if they did i would of got it.
Ugh, I TOTALLY relate! 100%, man. It's the same vibe with the Tactix 1 Day plus. It not only cost more but it just adds more bulk to the look and I'm not trying to go "all out" tactical. This bag (just uploaded a review of it; First Tactical Tactix 1 Day plus) is way better looking than the Rush though and offers way more for the price.
@@GabeCuello damn, yeah for some strange annoying reason when i wore the rush 12 around people thought i was in the military or some shit then i tell them i got it cause it's durable lol.
I got to try out the 72 2.0. it fits 4 PS 90 mags per side pouch. Will the 24 hold any? It arrives today... Thanks Amazon! That might make me choose the Rush 72. But you are right, these are excellent packs.
Now that I think for a moment, there are lots of areas to utilize for mags, maybe side pocket isn't that important for ammo. We shall see. Thanks bro... Great video
This is a good mid sized tactical bag. I'd base your decision off of the overall amount of gear you won't to carry at a time. The 72 is pretty big and may take up unnecessary space if your not utilizing the whole thing. This is good for a decent amount of gear while not being more minimalistic like the 12.
@@jonpatricklong totally! I think many thoughts. I'm going to use my 72 for everything from total bug... to going to the store for food on a motorcycle with no storage. I will decide on an attack pack later, got black, waiting on double tap 24🧐🤔👍
According to these bags sizing, this is a 37L bag. Technically, this is a large bag. A "medium" size bag is more in the 27L range. 5.11 only makes the Rush 12, 24 (this video) and 72. Hope that helps.
How easy is it to get the laptop in and out the pouch? I've got a 15 inch laptop with a sleeve and I'm not sure if it'll fit. Great video man, earned a sub!
Hey thanks for watching and supporting this channel. To answer your question, I genuinely believe you will experience a challenge taking your laptop in and out, especially with a sleeve. A 15inch will fit but thats also assuming your bag is empty (meaning it will be easier to bend, adjust, and move around) and if you're ok with it fitting snug. Hope this helps, warrior.
Hey Austin, thank you! I have not tried the 72. For rucking and long hikes, I wouldn't recommend Rush backpacks. Not unless they (5.11) start including waist belts. I decided to get the First Tactical for that very reason. To ruck and wear a waistbelt for the needed support. Rush is nice and high quality but with loads over 30lbs and no waist belt, things can suck real bad. First Tactical does have a 3day+ I believe but that may be better for your needs. A little large in my opinion but we're all different and have different needs. Have you seen that Tactical backpack?
Sounds like 511 dropped the ball again on a pack that could have been great this is the very reason who I only buy van quest or green room 136. I try to like 511 but there are too many cons on basically everyone of their packs.
Hey, Chris. Yes, there is a significant difference. Even to the look/structure of the admin pouch. Obviously, the 24L is more compact but while it is, gear such as a 32oz will be hard to fit in (assuming you have other items in your pack). It may even stick out whereas the 37L encloses it well. In my opinion, the 24L is best with Pouches and the 37L without for aesthetic and functionality. As for the laptop, watch my comparison (vs. Tactix) video. It shows you how the laptop (and water bottle) fits in the Rush pack; too snugged and that's on a new slim shaped 15.6 laptop. I hope this helps.
I'm trying to find the dimensions of the laptop pocket of the bag. I bought the Rush 12 2.0 and it was too small to fit my 15" laptop, exterior dimensions (15" W x 10" H"). I'm considering the 24 2.0, if you still have this pack, could you measure it?
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. Unfortunately I do not have this bag anymore. The Rush 24 2.0's laptop pocket for my 15.6 inch HP Spectre 360 did fit but it was close. I had about an inch in height left and .5 inch in width. The dimensions for this laptop is 14.17 IN x 8.91 IN x 0.79 IN. I hope this helps.
That's great to hear. I appreciate the view, support, and feedback. I do have one bag left and I'm excited to share soon so if you're curious, check back the channel in a week or so.
@@melissanavarro7449 I finally published the latest backpack review; First Tactical Tactix 1 Day Plus. If you're into Tactical bags and like 5.11, check this out first.
First of all, I must mention I really want to like this backpack: It comes from a reputable company, uses all the right materials at a reasonable price, and it has arguably one of the most versatile sizes and shapes out there. Having said that, I've seen a gazillion reviews on RUclips (most of them by overweight gentlemen showing us unused items...) - this one is the first talking about the elephant in the room: No waist belt and not enough compression straps! I can overlook the latter, but, no waist belt? Seriously? I love long walks up the Greek mountains and, being over 40, my back will be killing me after an hour. After 2 hours I will be contemplating suicide! I'll pass, there are way too many items outperforming this one (in its standard form)... Thanks for the honest review, liked and subscribed!
Right on! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Not sure if you had the chance but I made a review on a backpack that I did actually ended up with which covers the pitfalls mentioned in the Rush pack. Its 'First Tactical Tactix Day Plus' (38L). I'm in the works of getting the 27L because its more like an EDC but overall travel or hikes, the 38L is solid. I will be making a Rush vs 1st Tactical's video soon so, be on the look out.
I think this guy just wants to make videos. Don’t get me wrong he is showing you the bag and it’s functions but, everytime he says something is wrong or he wants to change the other pocket has that and he wants to change it as well. For example the first pocket he shows he wants Velcro then the others have Velcro and he says he wants a zipper there like what dude?
*_Would you rock this pack?_*
Yeah... I think I would.
In fact, a 72 arrived yesterday. I love it.
The deciding between the two might be does the 24 fit my PS90 magazines in those side pockets... Because the 72 fits 4 per side.
The black 24 came, and it does fit one mag per side! The 72 will fit 4.🤔 Thinking time.

Pros and con's baby. Honestly with every one and thing watching this. You'll never know what pocket that rocket came from... Pow!
Great rev - I really like your EDC point of the rev - keep up the good work
Right on, thank you.
Give Max Effort and Be one with the Iron.
just get next size up ; belt included
Is there a reasonable explanation why both magazine and magazine are called magazine but they are completed different and obviously unrelated things? They are both items of the modern age, how on earth they are assigned the same noun??
That's a good question. I honestly don't know. I still don't get why they spell it "Colonel" and say it as "Kernell". By the way, thanks for commenting and supporting the channel.
So why'd you buy it if you complained about each pocket
😂😂😂
Great video you are very thorough and gave it a great review. Thanks again
Hey! Thank you! I was beating myself for it being so long but I know there are people out there that want this type of video (detailed and with plenty of visual images).
I appreciate your comment and support, man. Keep rocking!
Thanks for the thorough honest review!!!
Its to thick , not elastic and wastes volume because of this thickness
3) The cvv compartment. i can live without it. I dont like velcro because it has a limited life. when it is done how am i going to close the compartment?
4) At this price i would like to see something like a rubberized bottom, like in falcon 2. I really like a lot the 4 molle at the bottom and the ability to attach a sleeping bag etc..
5) I would like to see drainholes, but it is not that bad
6) At the bottom no compression straps. I attach a pair of rush tier that i had and it makes a huge different.
Overall a really well made pack, allthough 1000d nylon does not feel stiff , especially the straps like in maxpedition falcon 2.
Thank you
Nice video Gabe
Hey man, thanks for watching and sharing your points. Totally accurate with your points. Rubberized bottom is an interesting idea.
Best review of this backpack. Thank you
That means a lot Miroslav, thank you.
I actually look for this as gym and school backpack. Can it accommodate some sneaker, spare clothes and school stuffs in one time?
I would say yes. It does depend on how you pack and, of course, how big your shoes are.
@@GabeCuello thanks man. Love the videos! Much love

Why don't tell how much liters hydration bladder can be putted inside?
It's a 3 ltr pack. It fits the short bladder.
Dude, you are so cool. I really liked this vid and subscribed immediately. Keep up the great content and the effort.
Also you could attach mag pouches to the molle
@@jonpatricklong totally! I think many thoughts.
I'm going to use my 72 for everything from total bug... to going to the store for food on a motorcycle with no storage. I will decide on an attack pack later, got black, waiting on double tap 24🧐🤔👍
Might even go sling bag...
Great Review. 👍
Is this a large or medium
According to these bags sizing, this is a 37L bag. Technically, this is a large bag.
A "medium" size bag is more in the 27L range.
5.11 only makes the Rush 12, 24 (this video) and 72.
Hope that helps.
Awesome video and review. Very informative 👍
Thanks for Watching! Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic video! Thoughts on the 72 for rucking? It has a hip belt? Can’t decide between the two
Hey Austin, thank you!
@@GabeCuello I haven’t but I’ll definitely check it out. Just finished the whole video and seriously you do a fantastic job. Subbed!

I agree! Thanks for taking the time and watching my video.
Great review!
Hey, thank you!
Sounds like 511 dropped the ball again on a pack that could have been great this is the very reason who I only buy van quest or green room 136. I try to like 511 but there are too many cons on basically everyone of their packs.
nah , i love mine. perfect
Great review. Thanks a million
Right on, man. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel!
Is there a significant difference in size between the 37l and 24l? Can the side pockets fit a 32oz water bottle? Can it also fit a 15.6in laptop?
@@GabeCuello Thank you, that was helpful!

HI , VERY COOL backpack ))
i have rush 24 )
I WISH I could have one.
@@GabeCuello I'll keep an eye on your channel, thank you!
72 has great belt included
Is that the back pack that you used?
Yup! Thanks for watching!

Nope
I think this guy just wants to make videos. Don’t get me wrong he is showing you the bag and it’s functions but, everytime he says something is wrong or he wants to change the other pocket has that and he wants to change it as well. For example the first pocket he shows he wants Velcro then the others have Velcro and he says he wants a zipper there like what dude?
