Soil quality!! So important. I heard the (hopefully) new DOH director discussion this recently. It's very noticeable that the produce here is (non-GM0) and much more nutritional.
Been here for 10 years and almost every other week the price goes up in the wet market. Don't get me started on real estate/hotel prices. Philippines is developing country with the first world country prices. That is why it's hard for the country to attrack a decent amount of tourists when you compare it the neighbouring countries.
I find the wet markets fluctuate based mostly on seasonal availability. But still very inexpensive by Western standards. The Hotels and real estate are definitely out of whack with the economy and growth.
460 for a shot is terrible but they are all jacking their prices up. Some of them are doing bottles of San mig light/apple ladies drink for 1170! WTF The bars are complaining they are quiet and no customers but they keep making it more expensive!
The beers (full bottle) were always ₱800+, that's why many guys think they get scammed. But 460 is a bit steep in general, especially for a chill pub vibe. Granted, the girls are nice, and they do sit for a while, and engage in decent conversation.
