So i'd figure as a driver who became a diesel mechanic that i'd share some insight and some advise,#1 buying any type of truck new or used will come with challenges, #2 this industry is not made for everyone there can be long hours short comings and waiting lots of waiting #3 learn to do your own preventative this would be things like Oil changes and small repairs that you can do #4 keep some tools( a tire bead screw driver, 1/2 torque wrenche and lug nuts kits etc) I've changed a busted radiator out in a parts store because I had the tools took me an hour but was cheaper than paying a mobile mechanic or a wrecker. #5 keep spare fluids and belts again you may never know when you need a spare belt or a gallon or two of 50/50 coolant #6 prepare for the worst pack your trips out I used to keep truck sunglasses, jackets and blankets. that being said anyone who want's to get in this industry should keep their heads up there will be loses and bad times with that I wish everyone who reads this good luck and safe travels

@@kingtastic2 easiest thing to do is go on Indeed.com and search box truck owner operator in your city. Several opportunities to choose from will pop up. That's what I did.
I own about 30 Hino’s. The only issues I’ve had with 2011-2012 268’s is every now and then the nox sensor and dosing valve will fail. And unfortunately we have had three blown engines after 300k miles. Other than that our Hino’s are our most reliable although they are expensive to maintain. My favorite box trucks are our Freightliner M2’s with Cummins. They are very solid and dependable.
Paid 8k for my truck 362k miles c12 caterpillar engine, only 15k hrs on it...minor stuff wrong with it that may take a few hundred to fix besides that it's highway ready. We plan to get another one in six months and jus keep flipping til we have a fleet. You are certainly preaching brother keep inspiring ✊🏾💯‼️👍🏿

I keep hearing you say 26 foot with lift gate, and I’m confused. Do you have a cdl? because most people don’t that have box trucks thats the hole purpose of settling for a box instead of a semi, to make money! If the truck itself is 26ft with a lift gate it’s probably pushing 26000lbs by itself so what can us people without our CDL load on our trucks without getting in trouble on the highway. We can’t even put a hammer on the truck it will go over 26000lb lol

Me living in Maine. Looks like I have to head to GA to get a fairly decent truck with decent prices. Now I do not think I be able to do Amazon as I live in Maine but I have thought about getting a flatbed truck and do convoy loads and freight container etc. This is hard to research atm

I live in California u can't buy a truck like that Cali has Cali Compliant laws meaning it's going to be BRAND new because anything under 2012 doesn't fall in that bracket of what they consider California Compliant. Anything $12,000 is sold out of state

I have been watching your videos. Very inspirational. I have been a tractor trailer driver for a little over 2 years now. I’m stuck between starting with Amazon with a box truck vs a tractor trailer. I think it could be safer starting with a box truck then eventually getting a tractor trailer. I’m afraid Amazon won’t have much freight in my area. I seen a video where you looked at freight on the load board for different areas and Chesapeake, VA is in my area and there was only 16 loads but I’m not sure if it’s because of slow season. BUT here in Suffolk, Va where I stay we are set to have an Amazon open this year that’s the biggest industrial building in VA and another in Chesapeake, VA. I’m not sure what to do. I know we have Amazon flex warehouses but I think they are different from fulfillment centers.

Do not buy an international with a Maxxforce engine. It will cost you more in the long run. If you do buy an international box truck make sure it has a Cummins engine and an Allison transmission

If one doesn’t have the funds to purchase can you start by leasing/renting? One can have 10k or 20k cash but by the time you find a truck; get your paperwork up, repairs, etc those funds maybe gone. So I’ve heard about driving for other box trucks, leasing, or renting, etc in order to learn the business then saving $ and buying a truck etc so many options one doesn’t know what direction to take. I’m about to sell my house, and start a business with the funds but what scares me is doing it wrong or losing. Can’t be afraid to take a step, but my life needs to turn back around. Hitting rock bottom sucks and sadly when you do there’s nobody there to help you out because people simply don’t care but only about themselves. It’s a doggy dog world, in my mind there has to be a solution, a purpose or reason. Thanks brother

No. Never get a max force engine.
I found a Freightliner with Cummins ISB 6.7 L, 220 hp, DEF, DPF, Allison 2100RDS A/T. But it has emission malfunction. Is that a big deal?

No workers comp needed for GA

What's up! Your right it might cancel you out for dry freight runs OUTSIDE of Amazon. But for amazon you can use a reefer truck.
