    So i'd figure as a driver who became a diesel mechanic that i'd share some insight and some advise,#1 buying any type of truck new or used will come with challenges, #2 this industry is not made for everyone there can be long hours short comings and waiting lots of waiting #3 learn to do your own preventative this would be things like Oil changes and small repairs that you can do #4 keep some tools( a tire bead screw driver, 1/2 torque wrenche and lug nuts kits etc) I've changed a busted radiator out in a parts store because I had the tools took me an hour but was cheaper than paying a mobile mechanic or a wrecker. #5 keep spare fluids and belts again you may never know when you need a spare belt or a gallon or two of 50/50 coolant #6 prepare for the worst pack your trips out I used to keep truck sunglasses, jackets and blankets. that being said anyone who want's to get in this industry should keep their heads up there will be loses and bad times with that I wish everyone who reads this good luck and safe travels

    I own about 30 Hino’s. The only issues I’ve had with 2011-2012 268’s is every now and then the nox sensor and dosing valve will fail. And unfortunately we have had three blown engines after 300k miles. Other than that our Hino’s are our most reliable although they are expensive to maintain. My favorite box trucks are our Freightliner M2’s with Cummins. They are very solid and dependable.

    I keep hearing you say 26 foot with lift gate, and I’m confused. Do you have a cdl? because most people don’t that have box trucks thats the hole purpose of settling for a box instead of a semi, to make money! If the truck itself is 26ft with a lift gate it’s probably pushing 26000lbs by itself so what can us people without our CDL load on our trucks without getting in trouble on the highway. We can’t even put a hammer on the truck it will go over 26000lb lol

    I have been watching your videos. Very inspirational. I have been a tractor trailer driver for a little over 2 years now. I’m stuck between starting with Amazon with a box truck vs a tractor trailer. I think it could be safer starting with a box truck then eventually getting a tractor trailer. I’m afraid Amazon won’t have much freight in my area. I seen a video where you looked at freight on the load board for different areas and Chesapeake, VA is in my area and there was only 16 loads but I’m not sure if it’s because of slow season. BUT here in Suffolk, Va where I stay we are set to have an Amazon open this year that’s the biggest industrial building in VA and another in Chesapeake, VA.
    I’m not sure what to do. I know we have Amazon flex warehouses but I think they are different from fulfillment centers.

    Hello, I just want to say thanks for you videos and all the helpful info. I just came across 2013 Kenworth T270 26 feet box truck with a ALLISON automatic TRANSMISSION & PACCAR 6.7 I6 Turbo engine for a good price. Is that a good box truck?

    • @shaynilajohnson977
      @shaynilajohnson977 3 года назад +1

      Paccar engines are not good. Need a Cummins engine.

    Was curious on how difficult it was for you to find workers comp insurance for Ga, and how much you pay??

      No workers comp needed for GA

    Do not buy an international with a Maxxforce engine. It will cost you more in the long run. If you do buy an international box truck make sure it has a Cummins engine and an Allison transmission

    Wassup bro. Is there any reason not to buy a reefer, will it cancel me out for any regular dry freight runs... Or is it just the best of both worlds in terms of making your self available for every type of load

    • @demetreusb
      @demetreusb  3 года назад

      What's up! Your right it might cancel you out for dry freight runs OUTSIDE of Amazon. But for amazon you can use a reefer truck.

    If one doesn’t have the funds to purchase can you start by leasing/renting? One can have 10k or 20k cash but by the time you find a truck; get your paperwork up, repairs, etc those funds maybe gone. So I’ve heard about driving for other box trucks, leasing, or renting, etc in order to learn the business then saving $ and buying a truck etc so many options one doesn’t know what direction to take. I’m about to sell my house, and start a business with the funds but what scares me is doing it wrong or losing. Can’t be afraid to take a step, but my life needs to turn back around. Hitting rock bottom sucks and sadly when you do there’s nobody there to help you out because people simply don’t care but only about themselves. It’s a doggy dog world, in my mind there has to be a solution, a purpose or reason. Thanks brother
