Thinking of trading in one of my Canon 6D's for this. Only thing putting me off is it's not full frame so this will be a downgrade for me. The audio as appealing though. Just wondering, does it clip the video into 4GB chunks? If so, how does this affect the audio? Is it recorded as a separate track? I also want to know if you can set the frame rate to 23.976, as this will match my other cameras. Thanks
Great questions. I think I can advise. I also had a Canon 6D Mark l and loved that camera.... for photos and the 60 fps. Like I mention in my video there is a work around to get that slow-motion in the Canon c100. I would take some time and explore the pros and cons between Full Frame and Super 35 mm. I felt the same way coming from Canon bodies with a full frame sensor but after owning and using the C100, Canon C200 and now my Red Scarlet-X (Video coming soon!) I realize the filmic benefits of that form factor and actually prefer it over full frame for video. I still do a ton of photography so my Canon R6 Mark ll and Canon R aren't going anywhere. Hollywood is mostly super 35 mm. For special shots they use fullframe. Fullframe was and is in principe a stills format. The camera Canon 5dmark II is the reason, filmers were using fullframe too, besides super 35 mm.
Its really good actually. However the capability of any camera is limited depending on what lens your using. I would never rely on a camera sensor if low light is a concern. Focus on using the fastest lenses possible. I mostly shoot with the Sigma 50 mm 1.4 and the Sigma 18-35 mm 1.8 which are considered fast lenses. My 2.8 lenses are great but not ideal for low light. Right now im filming with the RED Scarlet-X on most shoots. On paper this is a terrible low light camera but with my fast/low F-stop lenses the image is incredible with very low amounts of noise. Also i have a really good friend who was a DP on TV show for 25 years and after he shot with my c100 and edited it (He shot a christmas parade at night) he made the comment that the little bit of noise he found was unlike any he had ever seen. The Noise in the Canon c100 and Canon c200 looks more like film grain rather than that nasty pixelated noise you see on cell phones or go pros. So its worth noting atleast in my opinion that it doesn't actually destroy the image. Here is something i shot with the camera in low light. This entire wedding was shot with this camera.
