You have access to decades of grappling experience, striking experience at any given point of the day I can tell you that kind of shit does not go on in my gym. The location near my girlfriend had no bathrooms for months for renovations and when it finally opened up, after not even having a schedule, it looked exactly the same. They said it would be a couple weeks and it took a couple months and it literally looks like they have the same old stuff in it. Didn’t even have any benches when they opened it for the first week. Completely inept. Now the one in the next town over is also shut down for the whole month so my location is slammed . I’m looking at alternatives, but there’s not a lot in the area . I might have to deal with commuting to Crunch which isn’t that far, but it’s past an amusement park and traffic can get crazy

I joined for 2 months before all this and am a woman. The staff was always rude and never even acknowledged me when I walked in. I was glad to leave. I left and went to a gym covered by my insurance.
If you want to cancel online, but can't due to their policy, change your location to CA in your online account. CA requires them to allow membership cancelation online and not only in person like some other states 👍

I used to work there. It’s part of their business model to sign up members way above capacity. They expect only 10 PERCENT to actually use the membership (also known as “going to the gym”) and the other 90% never cancel because the price point is so low. They don’t WANT members to all show up because then the fire department would have to shut them down or theyd have to expand. It’s disgusting. I wasn’t there long because I got fired for actually helping my clients lose weight DESPITE their absolutely absurd “No Lunks” policy. I’d have to take my clients out in the parking lot to do cross training with them because IT WASN’T ALLOWED!! Are you effing kidding me?! Good riddance, PF, you piece of trash.

I built a little gym at home with a cage, weights and a couple of machines. I find most gyms disgusting and most people to be a nuisance at public gyms. My little gym has already paid for itself by saving me gym fees.

The local manager called to ask why I canceled on Tuesday. I brought up the other instances of men letting it all hang out in the woman's locker room AND what the new CEO said thanks to your coverage. She had no idea of anything other than the Alaska incident.
Doubling prices? That only worked for Disney for a few years before people stopped buying the multi-day passes on their vacations. Good luck with that.
It's satisfying being one of the people who canceled their membership because of this. I was telling my dad about this sticky mess. He offered to pay for a membership to workout at his gym with him. You cant beat that!

I used to work there. It’s part of their business model to sign up members way above capacity. They expect only 10 PERCENT to actually use the membership (also known as “going to the gym”) and the other 90% never cancel because the price point is so low. They don’t WANT members to all show up because then the fire department would have to shut them down or theyd have to expand. It’s disgusting. I wasn’t there long because I got fired for actually helping my clients lose weight DESPITE their absolutely absurd “No Lunks” policy. I’d have to take my clients out in the parking lot to do cross training with them because IT WASN’T ALLOWED!! Are you effing kidding me?! Good riddance, PF, you piece of trash.
Saw the headline that they were raising prices and I couldn't help laughing loudly in my car. My toddler was with me and even though she didn't know why I was laughing, she laughed too 😂😂😂

I love that their justification for allowing men into women’s bathrooms, locker rooms and showers, is because other gyms do it too. So if other gym owners jumped off the roof of their gym buildings, you should do it too? Let’s not fix the actual problem, & we’ll make ppl not interested to join our gym instead by raising the price! They are just as dense as Bud Light and much more stubborn…. but I’m excited to watch them eat it in the end.

It's a Monopoly. They don't have to compete with other gyms. They get to all screw you over. They all embrace horrific anti consumer tactics and don't actually compete. Cause if they WERE competing, a rival, like the YMCA, would be mocking Planet Fitness, and advertising their cheaper prices and policy to not have men in the women's bathroom. But not a SINGLE Gym has done that. Not a single one. Cause they are violating the non compete act and secretly work together to fuck over consumers.
We americans need to start forcing companies to compete. If companies don't want to compete, then we should destroy and split their company to new people and have small competing companies. Instead of 2 big gyms, YMCA and PF. Have each company break into 4 and have 8 smaller gyms competing to make it big. Then repeat when they get too big and stop competing.
Google, RUclips, Twitch, Apple. All these big Industries with no competition should be broken down and the companies destroyed to make smaller competing companies instead. It is STAGNANT that Disney is still on top of Animation. That RUclips is the only good video website. That Google is the only good search engine. They reach the top and stop progressing any farther. Instead they (Illegally I would argue!) branch out into OTHER Industries instead. RUclips branched into Live Streams of Twitch, and Shorts of TikTok for example, instead of making their website better and improving the content and website for their consumers. Cause why do they need to improve, when no one can even come close to them without getting destroyed illegally.
So now they are going to make the consumer pay for THEIR ignorance.

This was the final straw for a lot of people. PF has gone down hill the last few years.
I had noticed the locker rooms were getting cleaned less and less to the point I thought I was going to get sick even using them so I quit 9 months ago.
But this is just the icing on the cake for me, too funny.
The only reason people go to PF was low prices. A price hike is not going to help infact they may loose even more because of it.
Now it's time to double down, and really start to cancel memberships!

There's no universe among the infinite space where raising prices increases sales.
That depends - in some places a price increase takes a product from “Why’s it so cheap? What’s wrong with it?” to “Oh, that must be quality. I should probably buy.”

Planet Fitness - we lost an insane amount of money because we are insane and lost a bunch of customers. What do we do? Let’s punish the clowns who who stayed with us and charge them way more money cause if they haven’t left by now they surely won’t leave after we gouge them for more money
It’s the peoples wallets that determine if a company fails or not. We decide, not them. They have no power over us as the customers when it takes five minutes to withdraw our support.

Ended my membership as soon as I found out. My mom was a member there, so I told her about it and she cancelled hers too. One of the best things I ever did.
I've seen Van Life people that have Planet Fitness memberships only to have a place to shower.
Sales of van shower set ups have gone up. Portable water heaters for the win.

I've heard that a lot of working homeless (those living in cars, while trying to work their way out of poverty) use it, too, for the same reason. Cheap and easy way to shower, charge phones, etc.

I am a 63 year old woman, canceled my membership was honest why. I do miss the gym, I’m making do, walking and working out at home. I will NEVER join PF again.

On March 19th Planet Fitness dropped to $56. Today it is at $65 and fairly steady.
We may be winning on some fronts but so far, it has not hurt their stock price.

I built a little gym at home with a cage, weights and a couple of machines. I find most gyms disgusting and most people to be a nuisance at public gyms. My little gym has already paid for itself by saving me gym fees.
