      @@LivingZoology If I might about the views. It might just be the combined work of youtube algorythm not prioritizing your videos anymore (nobody knows why that happens) and covid restrictions not being much of a thing, so people have less time they are at home to watch.

    • @LivingZoology
      @LivingZoology  2 года назад +1

      @@troo_6656 We also think that it is because of the algorithm, but is very frustrating that we don't know why it happened :( People are outside a lot now also, we agree. We can only hope for better future.

      where i grew up (south Brazil), i used to handle coral snakes almost in a weekly basis, its the most docile, calm, easy going snake that i know of, you can pick it up, play with it and them place then on the ground, no problems, funny enough, the "fake coral" slightly longer and thicker, has no fangs or venom, and its VERY aggressive, boy ohh boy she has a bad temper, the snake with the biggest amount of casualties in Brasil is the "jararaca", the venom is not that powerful, the problem is her nasty personality, she will chase you or your children if you get too close

    Superb as always. Love seeing obscure species. Never seen any herping videos from the coastal Peruvian desert. Since you two do so much traveling to exotic places, seems weaving in a little travel info and local cultural info would be appropriate and appreciated. But, I know that is a lot more work and wouldn't want it to compromise the spectacular herp videography. Just a thought.

    Beautiful snakes, just a lovely video. I'm in America and I think all of us know the coral/king snake rhyme. Red to black friend of jack, red to yellow kill a fellow. Had me terrified of coral snakes, the bite rate is so low no anti venom exists in the U.S. glad to see the desert coral snake would have fooled me!

    • @LivingZoology
      @LivingZoology  2 года назад +2

      Thank you for watching! Yes, many people know the rhyme, but it is not accurate. There is antivenom, but coral snakes have strong neurotoxin and it is important to get to the hospital quickly.

      @@LivingZoology really? My info must be old, I know they got rid of the last stores in the south east in 2014. They expired, and I know they haven't replaced those. But anytime one is around venomous snakes it's always better not to get bitten. May I say your camera work is gorgeous.

      @@LivingZoology and this is why I love getting dialogue started. Thank you coral snakes in the southwest are incredibly rare, compared to the south east where you see them all the time in grass, gardens, bases of trees, really few and hard to find in the sonoran desert. I am so excited you guys got to do this trip, and thank you for spreading education. Most people say the only good snake is a dead one, I am so hoping that minds get changed. Rattlesnakes are so dear to me, and in Texas they have a rattlesnake roundup it's horrifying. Be safe, again thank you, for the videos, education, and conversation. If ever in the states, and you do an in person talk about your work, I'd be first for a ticket. Glad I found you guys.

    This is awesome. That first snake Oxyrhopis petola was breath taking. Wish I had some. You could breed them and sell them. The desert Oxyrhopis had a subdued beauty to it. Do you know of a good book on South American snakes in English?
