My nephew is now a retired cop and he told us one holiday gathering that there are 3 types: 1) those who do the job they were trained for, 2) those who are just collecting a paycheck and are the last to arrive at a crime scene even if they were the closest, and 3) ex-military who act like gods and think anything they say is the law. The last group was part of why he quit. The military guys stick together and back up each others stories. If you correct them or complain about them you could easily find yourself in a Serpico moment (and don't be surprised if they set it up). That said my nephew was far from perfect. He also stated that whether you got a ticket or not depended on how much respect you showed him. He said lots of young white males got tickets.
