Thank you I haven’t tried with azaleas. I have done the ground method with Wiegella, Rhododendrons and hydrangeas and just covered with 5-6” of soil about 4 years ago. I have since transplanted. I didn’t use anything to anchor them and I still got a 100% success rate. Definitely fun to propagate plants 😊 Thank you.

Should poke a small hole in the potting soil first before sticking in the cutting so the hormone powder doesn't rub off in the soil, then tamp down gently. Great idea on weighing down a branch to the ground to root it. Great video.

The previous homeowners had some very beautiful azaleas planted out by the road but I'd love to have some closer to the house where I can actually enjoy them. I just need to remember to label the pots so I know what color they're supposed to be, or I'll drive myself crazy trying to remember halfway thru the process.
Not exactly clear... The clippings with the Root Helper. How often do you water/mist those clippings. Do you put a bag over the top to create a humid environment. I tried this once and the leaves on the clipping fell off after a week. Please update on these issues. Thanks.
@@Laborkei If the leaves are falling off you probably didn't get a big enough clipping..I always kept the ground moist..I did not put a bag over them..Hope this helps

It will work with some other plants , those plants that have the ability to root themself from cuttings. Some plants will not root at all. The need the seeds. Hope this helps. Have fun with your projects

If you can....I would keep them in doors during the night, until they are established, then moved them out doors full time..Good luck with your project.
I wonder .... I used to live in Idaho, so we were Somewhat neighbors. My friends often kept live plants in their garage when it was too cold outdoors. Bear in mind they Used their garage -- tv, stand heater, and all -- so it my friend on how cold your garage tends to stay. They didn't keep heat out there at night, though, and their plants did fine!
I love the older specimens of Azaleas, which flower profusely without having too many leaves. The Encore Azaleas that are sold these days have too many leaves.

I always waited until I showed good growth to replant...and then it was also depended on were I was going to plant them..I potted some and put them in the house for the winter
I'M SO EXCITED! My mom is turning 99 in October, God willing. We will sell her home once gone, so I'm trying to make improvements now. She and Dad brought azaleas from his mother's Michigan Homestead and transplanted them here. I was going around trying to figure out what Shrubs to add to this very bare area to the shady area of her back yard. When I saw your video, I knew this was it. I just have to hope I'll be able to plant them this fall, as I most likely can't wait another year. I'm very interested in starting up a bunch of transplants and selling them. If I do that, will I be infringing on some copyright laws or whatever you'd call it in plant language. Would I be safe since these are all over 20 years old???
Thanks for the information. I think my azalea is fully grown, so there are no new green shoots coming out. I was wondering if I could use something that slices the skin off things like cucumbers to remove the bark? When you put it under a rock did it need to be new green growth or could it be old wood?
Even though your plant is old...It should have new growth in the spring..Can you use some of that new growth shoots....Also I have done it both ways by placing a rock on a branch....The old wood works just fine..

Rock method is simple ..Just place a rock and leave it go...It will take longer to root..That's why I give it a year..

@@Jennifr1966 Yea I believe the garage would keep it above freezing and therefore the plants would do fine
As long as it doesn't get below freezing they should be fine..Can you put a blanket around them at night??

My azaleas do that second method all on their own! I got a bush of an indica that was two feet by two feet from under a very large azalea.
Have you tried to split it and replant the new one elsewhere??

You have to go to a garden store to find them..Buying them at Lowes or Home Depot gets you the cheap one..
