I am wondering, I’m interested in roses, but also Liliac bushes, and I have 2 beautiful deep purple lilac bushes that are both not doing well after 10 years. Please, do you have any suggestions on how to graft or to clone from original bushes and make new ones? Sadly forgot much on gardening due to brain tumor, and I forgot so much after surgery. So it would be so helpful, and I would be forever grateful, if you could let me know what to do so I don’t follow rotten advice. Thank you for being a great channel 👍
Important, shocking info. You have a wonderful speaking voice with great diction. Despite my hearing impairment, I was able to understand every word without my hearing aids or closed captioning. Since RUclips won’t stop these fake videos that enrich crooks and harm people, you have armed us with facts we can disseminate. I will be sending a link to your videos to about 25 of activist friends and ask them to share. If all of us would contact at least 5-10 friends with this info, we could make a huge difference. Thanks to Jason! 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I've seen several of these cooking channels that dont speak but see the Chinese writing. They have different names but you realize they have the same content. Money money money. They are slick by saying Write in comments where you're from. That pushes it in the algorithm.
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm Thank God I didn't try it I did however put cactus sap on a rose cutting as told by one of someone's videos I shall let you know if I have any success it is Dorothy Perkins which is in my experience easier to propagate than hybrid teas thank you for this video.
The first one actually could've been real because roses can be planted usually they use larger pieces but and leaves some leaves on it but that was a cutting way of growing roses so the first one he should've just said instead of saying it was totally fake he should've said that's not a seed that's a cutting it probably took a lot more work and time than if he left a longer piece of the stem and left some leaves above the soil which is the normal way of doing a cutting would've been a better way but don't say oh it's fake because he used a small piece and you're not thinking of there are multiple ways with roses of planting new plants there's another plant that you take a cutting and it's got these big broad leaves and you just put in water you don't need a seed pineapples you can cut the top off and plant and grow a Pineapple plants
An eye opener. Its terribly sad how a fake process is highlighted so neatly.those guys shouldn't be allowed to upload their fake videos. Thanks to this person who had saved our precious time and. money as well.
Thank you Jason for exposing the propagndas. It's not easy to grow anything. It takes time and effort. Some seeds even need stratification. Huge thank you.
Jason, you are so brilliant! This could be what it takes to expose these terrible creators with no ethics and disgusting tactics. These type of videos are so damaging to inexperienced people. Maybe this video will prompt other creators to do the same. Lead on Jason! Thank you.❤
I tried to report one account: According to this video: ruclips.net/video/JCMknp5XsbY/видео.html&lc= Professional Grower Exposes Fake Rose Propagation Videos, this account ruclips.net/video/Vssbc9qXzag/видео.html has delivered fake information to mislead those who are interested in gardening. I compared 4:04 with 7:11 and 7:18. The cuts are still like fresh after 1 month and the places where roots grow like nothing has ever changed. It's more like roots glued.
Fake flower propagations are polluting RUclips nowadays. I'm a passionate rose gardener and don't pretend to know everything about roses, but I do know that patience is a good gardener's quality. Just to let you know Jason that I followed your propagation tips, and I've been fairly successful with some of my favorite roses by buying good root stimulators, cleaning and disinfecting the clipper and pot, and protecting the propagated stems from harsh temperature. Thank you for your help.🙏🏼🙏🏼
As a gardener of over 40 years Im ashamed to say I fell for one of these videos and saved it to my Gardening library ! ahahahaha. Thanks for taking time to expose these
I almost did too but knew the banana peel wouldn't have composted i to dirt to quick as he dug up the roots. Luckily I seen this exposoing the very video before I made a fool of myself in my kitchen lol
You are one of the authentic youtubers who try to fight fake news. Thank you for your wonderful contents that are helping me in my adventure of raising roses.
Thank you so much, Jason. I commend you for your expertise, honesty and polite attitude. I am a hobbyist gardener who enjoyed cutting propagation of many types of plants including roses. I resented all those videos so much and was looking forward for some professional like you to expose all this nonsense, preventing more fellow-gardeners from disappointment. I really enjoy your channel. Keep up with the good work!
I would love to know what are some of the fake news with regrowing cut roses? I’m a newbie and don’t want to waste time on things that aren’t even real! Thank you 🪴🌻❤️
At last, someone speaks up. I've been noticing these kind of videos with million views lately. Some plants are even named wrongly, which simply means the person isn't as knowledgeable as they appear to be. Kudos to you for bringing this up. 👏
As a person who has a small RUclips channel about gardening the fact that people are knowingly doing this is heartbreaking. There is so much real content that can be made that we never have to lie to get views.
Same here, as you know a genuine propagation video showing results takes weeks or months to make, and if the propagation fails your time has been wasted and the footage ends up being scrapped. Whereas fake videos can be produced in a day or two with guaranteed results every time.
Thanks Jeff. I'd love to think that doing it the "right way" (with truth) will win out over the fakery, but these guys have found a serious cheat that works on RUclips. So for now, it looks like doing the right thing will have to be its own reward.
I had just seen the 3rd example you showed here and thought it was likely nonsense but had not considered it was completely - intentionally - fake. Thanks for clearing this up and look forward to the next one.
Thanks - totally understandable. You naturally don't want to jump to the conclusion that they're totally faking the results, but there's no other explanation!
When is about roses, your channel and Rosegeek are the videos to watch. A rose won't grow in 18 days, patience is a virtue a gardener needs to have to propagate any plant. Thank you so much for your honesty.
Just last night I was doing my research on the best way to propagate roses (its that time of the year), saw some pretty wacky / unbelievable stuff, took notes though. However I settled on the advice of a REPUTABLE grower here in the UK, Harkness roses, for example, and they just talked common sense. Well between you, you've saved me a banana or two!
Thank You for walking us thru this! One of those vids popped up on my homescreen but I thought it seemed ‘suspect’ - Luckily I’ve been better schooled by you, Jim Putnam, Erin the Impatient Gardener, and Yuliya at Y Garden - I think you’re all great and I’ve learned so much - in my first year of gardening ☺️🌹
Thanks for outing these frauds for what they are. Finding authoritative sources for plant propagation is crucial. Thank you for being willing to share your knowledge and curiosity.
Thank you for your candor, Jason. I used to be in the nursery business in Texas, and I think many people fall prey to these incredible claims because they simply want an easy, fast fix. They don't have the patience it requires to be a gardener.
its all about driving traffic to the channel with click bait titles to get that add revenue. They want money!! You watch their stupid video & comment or even worse, subscribe... they make money. YOU CAN REPORT/FLAG THE CHANNEL.
I will say that may be true for some, but not for all. I did a few that I saw. I don't find it to be an easy and fast fix. I had no idea that what I was seeing was totally fraudulent. I searched as well and found a plethora of articles detailing these same methods. I assure you, I want legit how-to info for success, not just an easy fix. It's a shame that these channels are getting so much traction and probably ruining people on going further into gardening when these methods fail.
@@mgsiddle the people looking for things that work are the ones who fall for this, they are not the ones uploading videos of methods that dont work and claiming that they do because they will know exactly how frustrated the person watching is, the only ones who upload this bull are those that want money, and because youtube allows them to upload and to become monetized nothing will change anytime soon
Thank you for this video. I recently watched some of these videos on propagating begonias and a potato was used to create this wonderful new plant with strong healthy roots. As a master gardener I was immediately struck by some of the oddities of the process. There were flowers growing out of the leaf cutting but no sign of any new leaf buds or leaf decay. Most gardeners know that the cutting will work on the development of roots, leaves and lastly flower blooms. I was also curious as to where the potato went. The leaf was in perfect condition after being buried in the dirt for 45 days yet no trace of a potato was to be seen. 🤔 🤔 You are a pearl in a sea of deception. I really appreciate you taking the time to expose these sites.
Thank you for taking the time to expose those videos, I have personally been air- layering my fig trees, not for profit but to share with my close friends and family. A member of my family brought to my attention those videos to “do a faster way” I only wasted 20 minutes of my time on one of those videos, every time we click on those videos they reach a higher number of viewers and that’s when they start making money from it . And thank you for sharing your knowledge of propagation of roses!!
If I want to learn about roses and other info, I only watch your videos. I know there is just facts and truths. I don’t have time for all the other junk and misinformation! You are truly an exemplary, no nonsense, stand-up example of what these other videos need to understand! Don’t you leave us…ever! I sure appreciate you! 💕
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm You think you could write a book? I think you could! And you should! We all need your knowledge, to achieve success caring for our roses! So happy to have learned so much from you! 😊
Your very best tip Jason , has made my life much easier as I am growing older (85). For years I have been growing "Screwdriver Roses", (Self explanatory). Your tip to make 4 holes at a time with a 4 pronged fork and stick the cuttings in has increased production X 100 !
I tried the potato method after reading an article about it. What I got was a potato plant instead and my rose stem died off just a few days after. Thanks for pointing out these fake methods.
Thank you Jason! I have been tending a rose garden for decades and had recently seen one of these goofy videos. I was so puzzled, couldn't understand what I was seeing and thought wow I must be ready for the glue factory. What a good thing you do here. I love the way you have gently yet firmly and methodically offered informative correction for the good of all. I hope many people see your work. Yay and Thank you!
Thank you very much for your warning on these two channels. I'm a new gardener and just mentally wouldn't handle being lied to and me expecting growth within a few days. Thanx a million! ❤
Outstanding video on exposing the lies on those fake videos. I personally look at the hands of those supposed to growers and you can clearly see that they don't belong to someone who grows roses. They always look well manicured, never injured by a thorn and the story goes on. What puzzles me though is what its their motivation for making those fake videos.
I liked your video before I even watched. These videos you mention have been popping up in my feed over the past few days and they looked very suspect to me. I didn't bother to click them and give them the benefit of my view. Thank you for doing this. And yes, taking away the thumbs down count was a TERRIBLE decision on the part of YT.
Thanks LianeSpicer. Avoidance is a winning move! I just wish RUclips didn't weight outrageous thumbnails so heavily in their recommendations - sure the authenticity of the channel should weigh into the algorithm somewhere?
You're so welcome. Your doubts were right - and I guess you really can't believe your own eyes when they're willing to stage the results. And RUclips rewards them with widespread recommendations!
Mio yes you can easily root a rose using a banana. First get a cutting, second get a banana, third watch a Fraser Valley Farm video on rooting a rose cutting, and fourth eat and enjoy banana while watching video. I am not totally sure, but it should work.
WOAH!! I just got served your video since I have been viewing the past month on how to propagate roses and in fact I have seen several videos that you showed and ones like that. I feel so deceived! Thanks for exposing these videos!
I really appreciate hearing from a reputable person regarding propagation. And also giving us examples of others that are respected in their field. I’ve watched your channel for a long time and have learned a lot, I’ll keep watching.
Thank you for the information. I really thought what they’re posting is really true. Couldn’t believe how they’re deceiving the public. Please expose more of these crooks. Thanks.
I am so happy someone finally said it. I am no where close to a master gardener but do know a thing or two. So it’s super annoying when people come to me saying they tried this method or that method and it doesn’t work and that all gardeners are somehow “faking” their craft.
I am glad you made this video. I saw some of the clips you mentioned here. -The growing tip produces the roots and the bottom of the cutting develops leaves. Utterly ridiculous! Shame on RUclips as well!
Thanks for saying that! It's not natural for a cutting to "reverse directions" so when I see these guys rooting a fruit (which already looks fake enough!) but they're doing it upside-down (with the terminal end towards the soil) I wonder if they have even a basic understanding of gardening.
Thank you, I really appreciate you clearing up a bunch. It definitely is frustrating that these people don't want to be honest and are misleading people.
Thanks for calling them out! I think the most disappointing thing about those fake videos is it wouldn’t be any more difficult to propagate plants ‘properly’ in the conventional manner and then you would actually be successful. Bananas and potatoes are not needed to propagate plants! 😂
Thanks Kate - and I'm with you: go with the simplest & most proven methods! These guys do almost as much work faking their efforts as it would take to do the real thing, but it's worth it for them because RUclips rewards their more bizarre claims (and thus clickability) by recommending their videos to more viewers.
Thank you for this video because i have been trying to do these experiments and my cuttings just got rotten. I tried the one they used the rose hips and aloe vera and the same thing happened. Now I am trying the one they grow grapes from a bunch of grapes and I want to see how it goes and I am sure they will also rot. But why giving such wrong information to others? What do you gain from lying and misleading your fellowmen. Lord have mercy.
I have just watched one of these fake rose videos and was confused as to how utube can allow it.thank goodness for great genuine people like yourself.keep up the good work.
Thank you Jason, I have been noticing many channels recently posted some kind of amazing and incredible videos, not only just limited to rose plants. All these gardeners look more like a magician than a trusted gardener. A lot of audiences trusted them just like trust GOD, that's really funny and incredible. I usually doubt and leave comments to suspect the results, but kind of I am too weak. I have my RUclips garden channel and grow slowly, but I guaranteed I never fool my audiences, even though some results are not perfect but it is real. One of the reasons I created my channel is I was once fooled and cheated by many channels. Another thing I remembered that you once mentioned is RUclips will not show thumb down in order to encourage creators, that's really funny decision! On the one hand it encourage these fake videos. I think all of us should stand together to report this to RUclips to give warning or ban these RUclips channels.
Thanks so much Deborah. They're coming out pretty fast now, so I'm sure we haven't seen the last (or maybe even the most outrageous) of the fakes just yet.
I feel so naive! It never occurred to me that any of these videos were faked, but I see the issues you are pointing out. Thank you SO MUCH for this! Going forward, I'll be a little more skeptical.
Hi Jason, I'm so glad you decided review these channels! I was recommended by RUclips two of these videos and was so surprised! I never thought there are such people to fake nature just for the view rating! Thanks very much for making this video and confirming these are fake! Thanks again and happy growing 😀.
Hi, I have seen these channels and they have millions of views. They miraculously and preposterously grow all sorts of things 🙂 I read the comments and people fall for this bs. It's great that you made this video.
This is excellent information, thank you! A couple of those "bulbs" with roots coming out of them looked like olives to me. I have so many inexperienced friends that not only don't know, but they unwittingly spread this fake information by sharing on other social platforms. Now I wonder what these people gain from doing this sort of thing.
Thanks Cindi. Well that's the easy part to understand. Garden Easy has estimated earnings into the 20k per month range on SocialBlade. Add up all the other associated channels, and there's definitely a financial incentive to make outlandish claims in the thumbnail. RUclips prioritizes click-through-rate in their recommendations, so it looks like there will remain a healthy financial incentive for the fakery.
Thanks Jason, for another great video. I had just watched one of these videos over the weekend and thought it was very interesting. I was going to try this as soon as the flowers were spent. (I live in Florida so I still have roes blooming) I must be naive because I didn't think of these channels as being fake and for going at such lengths to deceive their viewers. Thanks again for the video.
Yes thank you again for the video and spreading the truth about these fake channels I was going on and on watching them and getting amazed They should be really ashamed to pass false info to us honest ppl wants only to learn 😁
Thank you Jason. I am a new gardener who now knows, I am ashamed to say, that I have wasted a lot of time following this fake video information. I will be more careful in future and try to expose the imposters. It is a pity there is not a list of them.
I agree. Rood Toob needs to spend some money vetting this questionable stuff instead of just profiting from fake videos. Anytime the presenter is from a foreign country and does not show their face, it's a red flag. Same with the horrible "animal rescue" videos where they abuse some innocent animal and then stage a rescue. It's so obvious what they are doing, yet millions of people click on those dramatic video thumbnails.
very interesting, thank you. I've never tried to propagate roses from cuttings. But years ago as a child I did propagate Opuntia from the flower heads - both prior to bloom and after it bloomed. I just put the entire seed head (sometimes called an apple) part way into the soil and let sunshine and water do the rest. The individual seeds in the seed head did not start to grow, but the entire seed head started to grow the same as a small leaf cutting starts to grow. I don't know if it works with all Opuntias, but it did with the Opntia we had growing in our back yard. But I'm so glad you exposed the truth about roses growing from rose seed heads. Thank you.
Thanks S Phillips. This is why I want to be cautious when if I say "never" - the plant world is full of wonderful exceptions. Most plants wont take from leaf cuttings, but begonias and Christmas cactus and many kinds of succulents have different kinds of leaves. Most won't come from roots, but crambe does. It wouldn't surprise me that opuntia's flowering sections retain some stem tissue, but I'll check out this summer when I visit a great hardy cactus garden I'm planning to shoot for the channel.
You're 100% right, I've tried those "fake, deceptive " methods myself many times , but unfortunately, it didn't work, I know why now , thanks a million to you. Regards
Thank You! These videos have been popping up in my feed, and the "spectacular results" from totally illogical methods has been driving me crazy. I do a lot of gardening myself, and was sure they were fake. The magical flourishes these people do with crazy ingredients is over the top. Snake oil at it's finest! I appreciate you clearing the air, and hope many people see this so they stop giving the dishonest video makers clicks.
Your video just earned a new sub. I want a garden as soon as we buy a house, and I actually watched one of the videos you highlighted. Hopefully watching your channel instead will fill my head with REAL knowledge.
I think everyone loves the "fake" videos because it looks SO EASY until they try them. I almost fell for it UNTIL I saw your video. I want to get some cuttings started from my sister's roses, but have no idea how to do it. Thanks so much for telling me how it is out there. Never can trust a video on starting plants by watching all the crazies out there. I think youtube falls short on a lot of videos I have seen out there. You just can't trust them all.
So glad to see people actually proving these fakes and hopefully taking down their lies and sites. It's sickening that so many, sometimes dangerous fakes are out there. Thanks for helping tell the truth!
Thanks so much for these videos exposing the fakers! Please don’t stop!! I’ve been watching them and did find them hard to believe! Please do more on the orchids too. Again, thanks!!
Thank you for this video! The Japanese gardeners I've referred to so far don't use bananas, potatoes, or cacti. The world is big, and I am ashamed to be surprised that there is such a method. Thank you for your courageous action.
Muchas Gracias.... No tenía la capacidad de analizar en profundidad y creí todos los videos fraudulentos... Hiciste un gran aporte a quienes intentamos iniciarnos en germinación y permacultura... Saludos Cordiales desde Bs As. Argentina
Sadly I fell for a couple of these bad techniques. I have some David Austin roses and need to replace a couple that didn't make it through last winter. Each propagation technique I have tried has failed. I think that I will give it another try using the info that you have provided. Thank You !!
OK show us how it's done??? I would love to make more roses. Senior citizen here. I have the time in the patience. Show me how it's done so I may have more roses. Thank you.
Sure. My main video on semi-hardwood stem propagation is here: ruclips.net/video/211r10Jj_OY/видео.html but since then, I've also shown the method for lavender with humidity domes, and the domes work well for roses too: ruclips.net/video/ZskIUlUxbU0/видео.html I do have loads of other propagation videos (almost all from stem cuttings) in this propagation playlist ruclips.net/p/PLQR908v3Cexyr3LLoFSxmHCJ6k0-s36SD
In spring, you cut the roses short. I plant these cuttings in a pot with soil. Not all cuttings have roots especially thin stems do not have much success rate, but I get enough more roses.
Cuttings are easier than growing seeds for me. Seeds germination is too long for me. Air layering is another way of doing. When flowers fall off turns into rose hips and it's still green you have to wait until it turns yellow orange when they mature and open the hips you'll find seeds inside then those you plant. Not the stem of rose hips. Strange to see only one stem growing when there are seeds inside. In that fake video.
Thank you for doing this video. I've seen the fake baking/desert videos and thought it was shameful that anyone would lie in such a way. I appreciate that you were able to shine a light on this kind of nonsense.
I have been watching these "fake rose propagation videos" and had my doubts, came through your video and thanks for explaining and showing the reality. greatly appreciate.
Bummer !!! I was excited to experience this new miracle way of propagating. I even put rose cuttings in aloe vera stem. And this came up in my feed debunking it I feel let down
So sad! I just think of all the people who wanted to keep a special rose and waste their precious time and material! They may never get to have that special rose, because of youtube's bias. Thank you Jason!!!!
Thanks Anne. Sad, isn't it? RUclips talks about "raising up authoritative content" but I guess that only means they'll recommend CNN over independent journalists. When it comes to gardening videos, it's still their business to promote clickbait.
Thank you. What seems obviously a scam to some of us will often fool others. I recently watched one of these videos and knew it was impossible but you pointed out what the proof was. Perfect.
I instantly love this guy. I have been propagating aaaaaalll kinds of stuff just for the fun it. It’s only been a little chunk of years, but has still brought a decent amount of experience with a pretty wide range of species. It’s a calling i didn’t realize i was hearing. These “magic” growing videos have been popping up like crazy more and more. I’m still learning about plants and curious, so I’ve fed into some of these views. But as interesting as they kind of seem they might be, they are just as confusing. Potatoes/bananas/chunks of aloe constantly make an appearance, but their results & samples never seem to match themselves, or anything I’ve experienced. When you prop mostly everything in just glass, water, & light, you get a good idea of how much stuff you are NOT using or doing. I don’t use powders. You also get an active view of growth speed & shape of the various parts, especially the roots. My rose cuttings have never developed thick stubby fingers like my epiphytic stuff. These videos give off red flags, and yet the false confidence is enough to buy my curiosity as an amateur. It’s awesome to find a pro rose guy voicing my concerns with these. Thank you for getting this out there. It’s very reaffirming of what I’ve been working toward.
Thanks for sharing, usually individuals, (such as yourself), are very passionate about horticulture, and growing plants and trees in general, why anyone would disseminate misleading or false information about growing plants is beyond me, other than maybe it makes them feel smart by deceiving others- Foot note; I like to experiment with plants, I have date Palms, (4 in a large container), I started from pits some ten years ago that are now about 9' tall, and a 7' lemon tree in my living room, I also started from seed- Once again, Thank You!
My pleasure Abdulaziz! I don't want to say that people are easily fooled, but rather that honest people don't naturally assume these video producers would completely fake the results.
Thanks, Jason. You make lots of really good points. I've learned something valuable in every one of your videos and I really appreciate your content. Please keep it up.
Thank you for posting this update. I wrote on the original posting that this was not possible and gave all the reasons as to why, including how the compost base which he planted them in along with banana skin had mysteriously changed to garden soil after 20 days!!! I used to own Garden Centres which had their own Nurseries within the grounds where we grew everything we possibly could. I was expecting some sort of rebuff after my lengthy reply but it never came. I was amazed at the amount of views it had received and how all the comments were akin to meeting a Messiah! Anyone with half a brain cell should realise that a banana skin cannot simply disappear after a few weeks, it takes months and that is in the correct conditions with all microbes working away. It disgusts me how these content creators can get away with such obvious lies and deceit to make a few bucks! I bet there were a few even with knowledge who fell for it and gave it a go, but I also hope some decided to research his claims before falling for it. I bet he was laughing his head off knowing so many would give it a shot all for his own satisfaction of making fools out of everyone. Shame on him!
I watched some of these out of curiosity, but saw that the "results" of sprouts and roots did not follow what I've observed in nature, so thanks for breaking it down in detail. Much easier to spot the fake plays now.
My trust in humanity is gone….. it’s a real shame that people have to corrupt a resource….. this also leads into people not trusting science ….. RUclips should be held accountable for this type of reviewed content or have some kind of content review program. Thanks again for your great work

As a gardener of over 40 years Im ashamed to say I fell for one of these videos and saved it to my Gardening library ! ahahahaha. Thanks for taking time to expose these
oh boy I don't feel so bad now! phew... I felt like such a dope after watching this and thinking 'how could I fall for that!'. :)
I almost did too but knew the banana peel wouldn't have composted i to dirt to quick as he dug up the roots. Luckily I seen this exposoing the very video before I made a fool of myself in my kitchen lol
I fell for it too😂
Thank you for taking your time to share this ❤
You are one of the authentic youtubers who try to fight fake news. Thank you for your wonderful contents that are helping me in my adventure of raising roses.
Aw, thanks Ma. Chona Mendoza
true!
Thanks so much Eduard for the encouragement and feedback!
Thanks Soul and Garden
I can't tell how much I appreciate finding this video. I'm trying to grow from cuttings and I saw some of those fake videos.
Click bait is why this video was made, when I first came across it I didn`t believe it. So good to get true fact from experts THANKYOU
Reporting for misinformation helps, if enough people do so
I had just seen the 3rd example you showed here and thought it was likely nonsense but had not considered it was completely - intentionally - fake.
My pleasure Johanna - thanks for your support!
Iam so happy some one honest like you came out and spread the good information to us who wants to learn
Thanks for your honesty👍🏼
Just last night I was doing my research on the best way to propagate roses (its that time of the year), saw some pretty wacky / unbelievable stuff, took notes though. However I settled on the advice of a REPUTABLE grower here in the UK, Harkness roses, for example, and they just talked common sense. Well between you, you've saved me a banana or two!
Thank you for opening up my eyes to time-wasting fake propagation videos 👁👁😊
Thank You for walking us thru this! One of those vids popped up on my homescreen but I thought it seemed ‘suspect’ - Luckily I’ve been better schooled by you, Jim Putnam, Erin the Impatient Gardener, and Yuliya at Y Garden - I think you’re all great and I’ve learned so much - in my first year of gardening ☺️🌹
Awesome Jen! Good to hear you were immune to the nonsense.
Thanks for outing these frauds for what they are. Finding authoritative sources for plant propagation is crucial. Thank you for being willing to share your knowledge and curiosity.
Thanks Alexander - I appreciate the support!
Yes thank you 🙏
Thank you for your candor, Jason. I used to be in the nursery business in Texas, and I think many people fall prey to these incredible claims because they simply want an easy, fast fix. They don't have the patience it requires to be a gardener.
Lol. Thanks Belinda. And especially if you can find the "magic ingredient" in your crisper or spice rack!
I don’t think y are correct. They are simply looking for something that works.
its all about driving traffic to the channel with click bait titles to get that add revenue.
Thanks Shelley. I'm sticking around on RUclips for so long as I'm still welcome.
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm You think you could write a book? I think you could! And you should! We all need your knowledge, to achieve success caring for our roses! So happy to have learned so much from you! 😊
Jason, thank you very for educating amateur gardeners who are falling prey to these fake videos.
My pleasure John.
Your very best tip Jason , has made my life much easier as I am growing older (85). For years I have been growing "Screwdriver Roses", (Self explanatory). Your tip to make 4 holes at a time with a 4 pronged fork and stick the cuttings in has increased production X 100 !
Thanks Robert. I'm happy anyone saw that old video!
Thank you so much for taking the time to set the record straight for us. There's so much garbage out there. It should be a crime against humanity. Smh
I tried the potato method after reading an article about it. What I got was a potato plant instead and my rose stem died off just a few days after. Thanks for pointing out these fake methods.
Thank you for exposing these fakes. There are just too many of them out there.
Thanks Therese
Thank you very much for your warning on these two channels. I'm a new gardener and just mentally wouldn't handle being lied to and me expecting growth within a few days. Thanx a million! ❤
You're so welcome Biker Chick444 - I'm glad you saw this before you got frustrated.
Thanks for warning these fake videos. I would have been very discouraged if I had followed their videos. Thank you again.
Thanks. I'm sure it's the money from views
Thank you so much for exposing this and helping preserve growers wisdom... respect and honor 💚🌟
My pleasure. Thanks for watching NachoManosVerdes
THANK YOU!
I just saw the rose banana one last night and had big doubts of the validity of the method.
Thank you for this information I just watched one of those fake videos and then yours popped up, never to old to learn something.
I really appreciate hearing from a reputable person regarding propagation. And also giving us examples of others that are respected in their field. I’ve watched your channel for a long time and have learned a lot, I’ll keep watching.
Thanks so much J Ann!
Yes thank you again
I do watch your channel a lot and subscribed long time ago
Keep the good information coming👍🏼we appreciate your work:)
Appreciate you sharing this information so that people are not misled and disheartened with gardening.
Thank you for the information. I really thought what they’re posting is really true. Couldn’t believe how they’re deceiving the public. Please expose more of these crooks. Thanks.
Thanks Arcelia Cody - I'll do my best!
Thank you so much Jason.
You are very knowledgable and well educated. You have done a great service to DIY gardeners. Thank you for your honesty.
You're very welcome Michael
Thanks for calling them out! I think the most disappointing thing about those fake videos is it wouldn’t be any more difficult to propagate plants ‘properly’ in the conventional manner and then you would actually be successful. Bananas and potatoes are not needed to propagate plants! 😂
Thanks Kate - and I'm with you: go with the simplest & most proven methods! These guys do almost as much work faking their efforts as it would take to do the real thing, but it's worth it for them because RUclips rewards their more bizarre claims (and thus clickability) by recommending their videos to more viewers.
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm yup, unfortunately shock value will get you clicks and unconventional is memorable/notable 😕
I am so disappointed Bc I did pass these videos to my friends too I wish these ppl get removed from utube ASAP!!!!@@FraserValleyRoseFarm
My mom was explaining the aloe method to me. I was like what?!! Sent her your video. Thank you for saving us the frustration!
I have just watched one of these fake rose videos and was confused as to how utube can allow it.thank goodness for great genuine people like yourself.keep up the good work.
Thank you for exposing and explaining these odd videos that stretch the imagination and mislead gardeners.
You got it!
Thanks for doing it the right way - with real information!
Thank you for giving us the real facts here whilst keeping composure and staying polite. Very much appreciated.
Thank you for being one of the honest guys. You are not wasting your time cuz many of us appreciate all your time and efforts.
Wow! Well give these gardeners a kudos that they have joined others giving bogus information! Thanks for the information.
Thanks so much Deborah. They're coming out pretty fast now, so I'm sure we haven't seen the last (or maybe even the most outrageous) of the fakes just yet.
Well done Jason. It's very important you did this We all benefit from it. Thank you.
Thanks so much MaryG!
Hi, I have seen these channels and they have millions of views. They miraculously and preposterously grow all sorts of things 🙂 I read the comments and people fall for this bs. It's great that you made this video.
Thank you for the informative video. Rose community should spread and share this video as an awareness to beginners
My pleasure. Thanks for the encouragement!
Yes I agree that would be great to spread more awareness in the garden community please do!!!👍🏼
Iam a beginner and Iam so sad I got fooled and watched these fake ppl channels😬
This is excellent information, thank you! A couple of those "bulbs" with roots coming out of them looked like olives to me. I have so many inexperienced friends that not only don't know, but they unwittingly spread this fake information by sharing on other social platforms. Now I wonder what these people gain from doing this sort of thing.
Thanks Cindi. Well that's the easy part to understand. Garden Easy has estimated earnings into the 20k per month range on SocialBlade. Add up all the other associated channels, and there's definitely a financial incentive to make outlandish claims in the thumbnail. RUclips prioritizes click-through-rate in their recommendations, so it looks like there will remain a healthy financial incentive for the fakery.
what they gain is views = $$
Thanks Jason, for another great video. I had just watched one of these videos over the weekend and thought it was very interesting. I was going to try this as soon as the flowers were spent. (I live in Florida so I still have roes blooming) I must be naive because I didn't think of these channels as being fake and for going at such lengths to deceive their viewers. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks. Most honest people wouldn't assume the lengths they'll go to in faking the results, so I don't think you're alone!
Yes thank you again for the video and spreading the truth about these fake channels
I was going on and on watching them and getting amazed
They should be really ashamed to pass false info to us honest ppl wants only to learn 😁
Thanks for exposing these fake videos regarding growing roses. I nearly do it but got these feelings that they are fake. Thanks again.
I was falling for those videos, thank you so much!
Thank you Jason. I am sure professionalism has helped many viewers like myself. You're now on my subscribed list.
Thank you Jason. I am a new gardener who now knows, I am ashamed to say, that I have wasted a lot of time following this fake video information. I will be more careful in future and try to expose the imposters. It is a pity there is not a list of them.
Thanks Sawney Bean - me too. They just open new channels when people catch on about their lies.
The Internet has been turned into garbage
Regards
Thank you for exposing these time wasters. 🎉🎉🎉
Let's hope so dirkwb. The only way these guys will stop making the fakes is if the viewer just won't click.
Very insightful video regarding fake content on other channels. Thank you!
Thanks for the encouragement Laurel Ann!
My pleasure Kay-Marie. Thanks for the support.
Thanks so much for these videos exposing the fakers! Please don’t stop!! I’ve been watching them and did find them hard to believe! Please do more on the orchids too. Again, thanks!!
Thanks Marlene!
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm can report to youtube for false info and misleading
I watched a couple of the "propagation" videos and they're too good to be true! I have been growing seeds and cuttings for more than 60 years
Thanks Chris - I'm glad you're around to share your knowledge!
Have you seen the "growing a banana tree from a banana" yet? 😂 The comments made me lose hope in humanity. 😭
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm plant roses in garden soil with no problem and all root for me.
In spring, you cut the roses short. I plant these cuttings in a pot with soil. Not all cuttings have roots especially thin stems do not have much success rate, but I get enough more roses.
As with all propagation, plant 100 cuttings, expect to get 10 to root and 1 to grow to maturity then you wont be disappointed. Any extra is a bonus.
You're very welcome annabodhi38
I have been watching these "fake rose propagation videos" and had my doubts, came through your video and thanks for explaining and showing the reality. greatly appreciate.
I saw one of the videos you exposed and I am about to try this coming summer but thank you for exposing these fake videos so won't waste my time 😊.
Thank you so much for doing these videos and exposing the fakes ❤.
I've watched these videos, they are new with millions of views. As a result I collected rose seeds yesterday ! :D Thanks for the debunk.
You're so welcome. There are new ones every day, and their success in getting recommended by RUclips ensures that there are plenty more on the way!
@@FraserValleyRoseFarm I almost believed it - they also cover stems in the soil horizontally with a few wounds on the stem. It kind of makes sense :D
Right - and the gentle way of handling & replanting. All stagecraft!
Exactly.. better to keep trying stem cuttings in sand. Or like my grandmother would do. Cutting under a glass jar right in her rose area's.
Thank Goodness, I also did not believe and was sure the roots had been glued on. Thanks!!
Just come across your channel today. I have watched Mike Kincaid videos and some other channels about propagation. You now have a new subscriber.
Mike is a good one ✌🏻❤️
Thank you for making this video! Such a shame this is happening on RUclips.
My pleasure Siva. Thanks for watching!
So needed this!! Thank you 😊
My pleasure Jo Dance. I'm glad you found it useful.
Thank you. What seems obviously a scam to some of us will often fool others. I recently watched one of these videos and knew it was impossible but you pointed out what the proof was. Perfect.
My pleasure Lise. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing, usually individuals, (such as yourself), are very passionate about horticulture, and growing plants and trees in general, why anyone would disseminate misleading or false information about growing plants is beyond me, other than maybe it makes them feel smart by deceiving others- Foot note; I like to experiment with plants, I have date Palms, (4 in a large container), I started from pits some ten years ago that are now about 9' tall, and a 7' lemon tree in my living room, I also started from seed-
Once again, Thank You!
Thank you for explanation i saw this video and it's weird that people see it as true!!
Thanks Shaiel Yitzchak for the feedback and ancouragement!
Just telling it like it is. :-)
Thanks. I don't know if they're laughing, but they're sure going all the way to the bank!
Blessings for the kindness and truthfulness 💐🙏💐
I watched some of these out of curiosity, but saw that the "results" of sprouts and roots did not follow what I've observed in nature, so thanks for breaking it down in detail. Much easier to spot the fake plays now.
My friend fell for these types of “tricks” propagating in RUclips channel, she was pissed off after months waiting for the plants to grow, lol🤦♀️
Hi Lita - sorry to hear your friend was misled. I think good-hearted people don't want to assume they're dealing with intentional fraud.
My trust in humanity is gone….. it’s a real shame that people have to corrupt a resource….. this also leads into people not trusting science ….. RUclips should be held accountable for this type of reviewed content or have some kind of content review program.
Thanks again for your great work
Thanks B A - and in gardening of all hobbies! But I guess they'll follow where the money lead them.
