"There's no reason to be alive if you can't do deadlifts". I see people every day that are unhappy with their lives, they hate their job, they have settled for girlfriend they don't even fancy, they are hostile & envious towards anyone who displays any signs of achievement, regardless of how small-time. Who would want to live 90 years like these fucks? Give me 60 or 70 years of striving and going to bed tired and exhausted any day.
PERFECT timing! Going for a 530lb squat today in shitty walmart knee wraps & no belt. It'll be a 10lb pr in these knee wraps! This is great motivation! Nothing makes me feel more alive, than by lifting heavy!
Although I stopped watching this channel a while ago, I still come back every now and then for this one. This has to be one of you best videos Mark, thanks for it.
I don't use steroids, but the idea that natural lifters have nothing to learn from people on gear is one of the dumbest things I hear parroted online. People that use can still know WTF they're talking about, and can certainly have good insights into training, programming, technique, all that crap. Why the natty police freak out is beyond me.
People who claim to be natural tend to frustrate beginners trying to get bigger/stronger. But people who know their shit and don't claim to be something they are not, have tons of value they can offer. A lot of times, they have spend most of their careers as naturals too.
im so blessed to have met both the late greats, Dallas McCarver and Rich Piana, and Mark Bell, all at bodypower! True passion for what they did, and still do! This is living for a purpose!
We all make choices that hurt and help our health. You can't live in a bubble but can't mainline heroin everyday either to live a happy long life. Balance key to happiness and a long life. Mark your instructional videos on lifting are best I have seen on RUclips. Thanks.
You know, I`m not the type of person that needs "motivation" to do shit, and I usually don`t look for it, but I have to say this video helps me focus. I`ve been watching it on a daily almost since you uploaded it. Thank you Mark !
This is probably one of the best videos I have seen. Some people see it as 4 minutes of bullshit. But I think there's a lot of us that would agree how deep this all is. Let it kill you !
The amount of people misinterpreting the message in this video or taking it literally is appalling. Mark isn't advocating taking steroids out the womb, and he's not advocating leaving your family behind. He's simply saying that if you have a passion for something, devote serious time and effort to it and enjoy it to the fullest rather than half-ass it. "Let it kill you" is his way of putting it, it's not to say that everyone in the comment section should go on a cycle and start maxing out every day in the gym. Let a cool video be a cool video and stop looking for ways to complicate shit.
Smoking and drinking != steroids. The most common steroid Testosterone, is a hormone. I.E something natural your body already produces. This isn't going to poison body like alcohol and smoking can.
#1 TIP. NEVER START TAKING STEROIDS . I have done bodybuilding and powerlifting for about 5-6 years and have thought about taking steroids many times, but then I remind myself that it is simply not worth it to sacrifice 10-50 years of my already limited lifespan, and now I have to be on drugs for the rest of my life to see any improvements in the gym? I would like to be healthy & strong and still lifting weights when I'm 80 and not be in a grave when I'm in my 40's-50's like so many other steroid users. Strokes, heart attacks, heart failure, liver failure, kidney failure etc. Mike Matarazzo: age 47 heart attack. Dan Puckett: age 22 heart failure. Scott Klein: age 30 kidney failure. Robert Benavente: age 30 heart attack. Trevor Smith: age 30 heart attack. Andreas Munzer: age 32 multiple organ failure. Mohammed Benaziza: age 33 heart failure. Daniele Seccarecci: age 33 heart attack. Luke Wood: age 35 Died from complications following a kidney transplant. Chris Janusz: age 37 undisclosed causes. Art Atwood: age 37 heart attack. Mat Duvall: age 40 heart attack. Ed Van Amsterdam: age 40 heart attack. Fannie Barrios age 41 stroke. Charles Durr: age 44 heart attack. Anthony D'Arezzo: age 44 heart attack. Ray Mentzer: age 47 kidney failure. Nasser El Sonbaty: age 47 heart and kidney failure. Don Ross: age 49 heart attack. Mike Mentzer: age 49 heart complications. Don Youngblood: age 49 heart attack. Terri Harris: age 50 heart attack. Ed Kawak: age 51 heart attack. Vince Comerford: age 52 heart attack. Greg DeFerro age 53 heart disease.
Come back to us when you're 80, potentially by the time you're 60 you are far likely to die in an accident/get dementia/develop a mental health illness/die of cancer/suicide/have arthritis and be wheel chair bound and the list goes on. So whilst you're sat here like a potato with dreams of still lifting when you're 80 just remember life doesn't give a toss about what you want to do and tihs happens before you know it...so you might aswell do what makes you happy and stop living in this backwards thinking of "when I'm 80 I want so and so", be real
I'm a vegetarian and don't drink or smoke or eat unhealthy stuff, and live a stress-free life. it's called planning for the future it's pretty Common, you should try it. But if you want to live fast and die young that is all up to you, you do you.
Johansen1000 no wonder you want to make the best of this life, everyone knows vegetarians are going to hell. My roided out, creature-eating self is ganna be doing lunges through the golden gates of heaven while you are squabbling over beet-roots in the flames of eternity. Good mother-fucking day, God dammit!
It is what it is but I believe taking steroids is extremely selfish as well. When you are a person of influence leading by example, taking steroids and making videos others use as inspiration the mantra 'let it kill you' is overkill.
love ya mark. usually agree with you on most topics. but i gotta say, the "let it kill you or the do whatever it takes mentality" is selfish and short sighted. there is a middle ground.
stephen0327 It's funny, because I have noticed Mark Bell has probably done / given alot more to people than almost any and all other lifters could do. Alot of people over the years have cued in to him, and I've seen even more use his slingshots and other things. People that have nothing, and know nothing. But they know how to make up for that by being smart in the gym, and living that one part of there life. So I think he's done alot of good for people. Im a truck driver and have been to gyms in every state, I've seen all the types of Lifters and crowds etc. But that aside, I don't like his attitude. He's giving more of his opinion, and not the real truth. He talks about things kind of black and white. It isn't so black and white.
I mean it's cool and shit, but I don't like the message. You caring so much about being bigger stronger faster, to the point where you will happily dig an early grave really fucking sucks for your kids and your wife and your friends and family.
Most people are already digging an early grave by working at places they don´t like and with terrible eating habits. If you´re going to die, at least do what you love while you can...
Because it's not about who has better drugs, it's about who puts more work in. Steroids just open up the opportunity to grow beyond your limit, you still need to put a tremendous amount of work in to get there.
"Strength is never a weakness"? I agree. as long as you don't carry around too much weight and lessen your relative power much. But, whether you deadlift 250 kg or 300 kg makes no difference in your life whatsoever. I can pretty much guarantee that. Unless you're competing. And even then, prize money in strength sports is certainly nothing to cheer about. Nuttin' but a peanut! Better choose some other sport, if you want to make any kind of money.

Give me 60 or 70 years of striving and going to bed tired and exhausted any day.
I love watching that lift from WSM.

Although I stopped watching this channel a while ago, I still come back every now and then for this one.
This has to be one of you best videos Mark, thanks for it.

I love the straight up honesty, rather than justifying lifestyle choices with bullshit. Do it because you love it and let it kill you.

Smoking and drinking != steroids. The most common steroid Testosterone, is a hormone. I.E something natural your body already produces. This isn't going to poison body like alcohol and smoking can.

Not that much. It really depends on which country you are living in.
