King of Spring (Horicon Marsh)

This was the final film project for my Zen & the Art of Filmmaking class in Spring of 2022. The prompt for this film was to give myself my own restrictions and pick my own subject matter. The restrictions I gave myself were: I can only use close-up shots, and I can only use handheld shots. The reason I chose these restrictions is because I really like wide shots and, at the time, I was reliant on using a tripod for most of my films. My goal was for these restrictions to make me step outside my comfort zone and make me do things I usually don't like to do.
I shot this whole film at the Horicon Marsh. An additional part of the prompt for this film was to develop a system to randomly find audio on RUclips. I randomly came across this LoFi song based around spring, and since it was spring when I filmed this, it fit my nature motif perfectly.
