Haha I ate it on the trail the other day, too. Hiking in the rain is fun but makes it slippery. I carry a bunch of what I call essentials in my kit bag. It’s always nice to hit a snag and realize you have the stuff you need to get out.

See, I'm 65 and I want so badly to some solo hiking or overnight trips and my wife comes down with a definite "NO! Take someone with you!" No, I' m not "whipped" but it's probably good that she says to take someone with me. There's another RUclipsr called PaleoHiker that brings one of the alert devices with him on trips by himself. If something were to happen, he can press a button and alert emergency help.

reb0254 I'm about 15 yrs behind you, and I hike, hunt, and fish the majority of the time alone. I tell my wife where I'm going, and if it's really remote I show her on the map. I think the technology available now to aid in our outdoor adventures is incredible, but it does come at a price. It's good to have options.

take an extra buddy in case you fall on you ass coming down a rocky trail, or rainy slope.

Oh yeah! Gale force winds, enough rain to float an ark, lightning, 100 degree real feel temps, it was a memorable hike. Embraced suck for sure! Look forward to our next adventure my friend.
