Took a long time to find this game after so many years, even if it was likely around 30 years or more that I last heard it, that shop theme is still cemented in my memory. Like scratching an itch that has been bothering you for a time, finding those games from childhood that you never knew the name, had that same thing with Chakan The Forever Man, even rewatched a playthrough again a few days ago.
My sister and I would play this constantly on our Sega Genesis. I remember the two details about this game: If you die at the same time on 2- player, it's Game Over, and the Iceman/Snowflake level boss is immune to the laser weapon.
The first time that I played this was at a buddy's house back in 6th grade. We were learning about Ancient Egypt at school and it felt so unbelievably cool to kill Ra in a Genesis game!
Great playthrough. Forgotten Worlds still has its charms nowadays. Funny how they changed the in between level speeches compared to the digitized ones from the coin-up.
It's not the worst, but this is a pretty weak showing musically for the Genesis, there are FAR better tracks out there. Like this one: ruclips.net/video/XG1c2U4ld2Y/видео.html& - of course opinions will vary.
OMG, wow I remember all of this. I was only like 6 or 7 years old when I played. It's bringing back memories. I mean, you will always remember Mario Bros but this, to me, was forgotten up until now.
I like that we know as much about those two guys at the end of the game as we did in the beginning. Which is to say... nothing. Just two huge musclebound dudes who can fly. We don't know where they came from, and we don't know where they went.
I tried playing this game on an emulator once back in high school, but it just cut to a game over as soon as the opening cutscenes finished. Any idea how it happened?
On the original console, the game did this if you had a six button controller plugged in, unless you held down the mode button before switching the mega drive/ Genesis on. I think most emulators are configured to emulate a six button controller, but there should be a setting in them to tell it to emulate a three button controller.
I remember a bikini or something that looked like panties being sold in the shop but you needed hella points to get it but we never knew what it was for
I watched this because I've played the game a few times and can't complete it single player without cheating (by putting it on two players and letting the second player just auto fire forward, I'd reach over and press start any time it died and keep respawning myself) I wanted to see if it was even possible. I've beaten other shooters but maybe its the weapon choices, or the rotating mechanic, I just couldn't get this one down. I used your video to prove to myself its possible. I really like the game, for 1989 this was one of the best titles I wanted to love it but the difficulty kept me at arms length. I'll try again when I see how you've done it.
It's a game worth persevering with. Like a lot of Capcom games, they were hard to get to grips with but get easier with repeated play once you memorise what's going on. Didn't know about that two player cheat! I just always set the game to auto shoot and hope for the best. It's still a great game to play today, but it's mostly forgotten about. I suppose it's sites like RUclips which keep games like this alive.
You don’t seem to realize you can rotate the direction of your weapon. In the arcade, the joystick could spin. On the Genesis, the buttons rotated your aim. That’s how you hit targets above and below you.
A lot of the earlier Genesis/Mega Drive games (like this one) were arcade game conversions, which were usually quite short. Games released later in the console's life tended to become much longer.
The game that will not run with 6 button pads (Ms Pac Man is another, the controls are wonky and won't respond well with a 6 button pad), unless you hold the Mode button upon booting the game. Otherwise you start the game, and instant Game Over.
@@THEREALGAMEMASTER-gz5xg back in the days playing 6 button control pad in genesis with my friends laughing saying hey i havent done anything yet.........GAME OVER

I've been looking for this game for years!! All I could remember is the 2nd level, with the water and fighting the dragon. Finally found it today!

I finally know the name of the game I used to play with my cousins over 3 decades ago!
Great playthrough. Forgotten Worlds still has its charms nowadays. Funny how they changed the in between level speeches compared to the digitized ones from the coin-up.
This whole time I been looking for this game I thought it was a contra game.. it was he first video game I ever played I was 3 years old🔥
Funny, since there 'is' a Contra game for the system, the brutally hard yet incredible Contra Hard Corps!
I think I was four in a half lmfao 😂 second arcade game I played
I remember thinking this game had the best music I ever heard in a video game at the time. It's still really good!

Yellowblanka Still, for an early title AND as a CPS-1 port, it's made REALLY good.

First played this at my cousin's house in the early 90s...definitely a classic, and has some great music!

Man i remember playing hell out of this on xmas day. Also remember the slowdown lol

Can anyone explain if you don't have auto fire selected in options, your life levell goes all the way down when you start firing?
I've never understood the storyline of this game despite playing it over and over.

Yes you have the orginal game, the 1988 one!! Once I heard the intro music I knew it!
Thank you for the video.
When I was a kid I could never beat this game solo. 🙁
only on 2 player

I am 36 and the song that plays in the shop is still stuck in my head all these years later 😂🥹

My biggest gripe about most Genesis games where they were to short, it was all about the graphics.

I would play the game, if the soundeffects were not that bad.
Great video, however the player playing is an amateur at best. So many missed Zenny and little, if any rotation!
I agree, I don't find it easy to rotate that little man and keep on top of what's happening elsewhere.
The backgrounds are so boring for a shmup.
Rookie player. Gotta be a millennial. Lol
:) I wish! I’m late 70s, which I believe makes me generation x. I’m just not that great at this game!
