  • Rick Adams has done a lot of things, invented medical devices and converted his home to personal care for the elderly.
    I got to know Rick from bus Air conditioning and cruise air units. Rick took my online course to learn HVAC and applied the math and science to the inherent problems to the coach busses air systems. Rick solved many problems and on his own and made several design changes greatly improving the operation. He reached out to me several years ago about some unique problems.
    Rick was really good at researching and and solving problems. He always brought the data and what he learned about a part or issues when he reached out. He always had some of the weirdest most unique things. Rick did not just want a quick answer he really strove to understand the root problem and the long term solution wile evaluating cause and effects. The Cruise air units where originally designed for marine application and had some issues when applied to land buss systems. Some parts he would learn where not needed for this application while other parts greatly improved operation. He redesigned the condensing coils, added TXV inside and out, improved airflow and arranged parts to be serviceable.
    As cruise air started discontinuing more and more parts, Rick was able to make alternatives or research if it could do without. Eventually the compressors where to be discontinued and we went to the EHR expo in search of alternatives. He did not just swap a compressor but evaluated capacity, space, heat, velocity, oil return and wattage needs. It was really an inspiration how he evaluated things. Many times My brain would hurt form all the ideas and inventions we would discuss.
    He was able to solve a lot of problems for many people. When he would call me he usually already knew the answer but just wanted to be sure. These where sometimes very complex issues but it never stopped him.
    We became great friends, we would meet up in his state or mine. He always spoke of how proud he was of his daughter and he knew he had done his job knowing what a great and caring person she turned out to be.
    Unfortunately Rick passed away at the beginning of August 2022. I will greatly miss our deep conversations, and laughs. Let Rick be an inspiration to you that you can learn anything and solve any problem.
    Ricks Wife said if like, you can donate to pancan.org/ in Rick Adams name.
    Have a great day and never stop learning.

    Ty - I ALSO KNEW RICK ADAMS, met him in person this past spring while in Arizona and so appreciated him and his friendship which began almost two years ago after learning of his bus ac work and knowledge. Rick inspired me to watch MANY of your videos and between you and him, I successfully evaluated my own cruise air units after purchasing a complete set of wireless probes to use with MQ. Rick and I talked FREQUENTLY up until the end. SOOOOO SAD. My wife and I miss him so much (she met him in AZ, too). And, yes, he was SUPER proud of his daughter and 100% confident of her continued success. THANK YOU for your tribute and know Rick appreciated you and your friendship!! He talked about you all time!! I will never forget how amazed he was when you once called him a genius :)

      I corrected that, I have no idea how I got the date wrong the first time. Thank you for correcting me.
      His passing really hit me hard. I wish I had followed up sooner and come to visit one last time. It will be one of my biggest regrets. I think of him all the time. The world lost a great man.

    Sir may I ask you a question off topic. Could a a/c compressor capacitor test at normal mfd
    And still be open/ shorted and not start a compressor. Put a capacitor in and ran ok???
    Thankyou in advance

      @love2hvac  Год назад +1

      It is possible to have a capacitor test ok but be weak under load. there is a method to test them under load.
      Bryan Orr with HVAC school and also Craig with AC service tech llc have videos showing how to test under load.
