Greetings Professor HeyTeeEn The Hellsport Mek Werks got their hands on a couple of Pack Hunter Clan Mechs. A 'Standard' Pack Hunter, and a Pack Hunter II. The basic Pack Hunter is a fine Mech and operates as a fast sniper Mech. The PH II was altered a bit from its basic configuration. Both B-Pods were removed and the weight invested into a Clan AMS, a ton of ammo, and a half ton of additional Clan FFA. The Mech still moves at 7-11-7, and has its 10 Clan DSHS. It has Clan FFA and Endo, and the ER PPC and pair of ER Medium Lasers. The reason for the change was that no pilot should allow Infantry, or especially Battle Armor, to get in range of the Mech due to its ability to 'run and gun' at its fulll flank speed of 118 KPH. Other than increasing FFA armoring by half a ton, and the addition of a Clan AMS and its ammo, the Mech remains a Pack Hunter II. The Astechs want the Legions to send another example of the Pack Hunter to the Mek Werks, so that they can play around with a design with ridiculous numbers of ER Small Lasers, or even ER Micro Lasers. I can't argue that. You gain more consistently higher damage and an extra couple hexes range for more heat and a chance to blow the gun off your mech. Its really situational, with "are you likely to fire every turn, and are you completely stuffed if your laser detonates?" Usually becoming the deciding factor of if its worth taking or not.

A pack hunter with a hyper laser is truly terrifying.
I'm never a huge fan of the Hyper Laser, I prefer a ER PPC with a PPC capacitor. Just less risky.

The Pack Hunter redesign is such a downgrade. Sure it fixed the overly large upper arms but it made the rest of the mech so much worse.
