There was a time when I would speak like I was there
Under the light of absolution and repair
But here in the fallout I can see where I went wrong
Playing Judas in the dark under my song
Where is the peace that I once heard would follow grace?
All of the holes within my heart go separate ways
Through black stained glass
All my purities pale under the veil
of black stained glass
Black stained glass
There was a fire when I was young that took my life
And now I am left just praying death would take me twice
Where is the peace that I once heard would follow grace?
All of the holes within my heart go separate ways
Through black stained glass
All my purities pale under the veil
of black stained glass
Black stained glass
And I won't justify this dark and light in one
For all deception said and done
Please don't cast me out for learning to be numb
And for the wreck that I've become
Through black stained glass
All my purities pale under the veil
of black stained glass

Wake up, a new Demon Hunter song just dropped
Shut up
Wake up, it’s a snoozer!
@@AndrewDembouski wake up its a grower
Woke up five days ago
@@AndrewDembouski What a naive thing to say. Ya know, I hope you don’t ever have to relate to this song. Things aren’t always as they seem. Just because the song doesn’t sound heavy, doesn’t mean its lyrics aren’t.
God bless you, I pray Jesus works on your heart man. We could all use Him.
I love when Demon Hunter does these kinds of songs. It's always a friendly reminder their gentler side is just as wonderful and engaging as the side that's screaming at you.
Trying to let their kids sleep. Great song!
The lyrics aren’t very friendly lol
It really is. I like the way you said thay.
Y'all are my favorite band. Keep the faith and stay strong, brothers! 🖤
Everything this guy said!
"please don't cast me out for learning to be numb And for the wreck I've become" This hit so hard.. I love you guys thank you for this beautiful song.
Wow, those opening lines… I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that those lines struck right to the core of my soul. What a beautiful way to describe the fears and doubts we have as Christians.
Demon Hunter truly is a gift from God. Your music and message is beautiful, and you are part of what lead me to converting to Christianity. Thank you for all that you do.
first metal band I herd as a troubled teen. they helped lead me to Christianity. fire to my soul being a big one.
This song describes the Christian walk and as we get older, we realize how messed up we really are and we long for the day Jesus comes back taking us home.
Amen!
Wow......Just Wow.......One of the heaviest songs I've ever heard without it actually being a "heavy" song. No one writes songs like DH. Amazing!
Hah, bro uses the word heavy like I do, or maybe its what it used to commonly mean... Agreed \m/
Heavy in the same way Opeth's Damnation is.
Back in my day, we used to listen to music like this with a "rain sounds" tab open
i use 2 mp3 player in my phone just for that :D
You all have helped me through my darkest moments. Thanks so much.
Ive been a fan from the first moment I bought their first album in 2002. As a christian who struggles at times with doubt, with my own sin, walking that line, that battle between light and dark that takes place in myself in and the world, this band has meant so much to my walk. Thank you. As always just when I fell in a rut, Demon Hunter releases a track that perfectly captures what I'm feeling. God knows exactly how to get my attention when I'm being stubborn.
"Please don't cast me out for learning to be numb or for the wreck that I've become"
The emotional weight in those lines rivals Deteriorate. It's like a knife in the gut.
"There was a fire when I was young that took my life and now I am left just praying death would take me twice"
That one does the same with me.
Not exactly the sound I was expecting but the lyrics are distinctly Hunter, beautiful
I've been struggling so hard lately with things in life. I cried when I heard this song for the first time yesterday evening because I feel like someone gets me and has been having the dance thoughts I've been having. Thank you guys for your music and being human. I love y'all. God Bless You!!!!
“Where is the peace I once heard would follow grace?”
Thank you for always working to redefine what it means to be a metal band, and what it means to be a Christian band.
amen.
I've been listening to yalls music for most of my life, I've recently been saved and baptised, yalls music means so much more to me now. Thank you for what yall do.
Welcome to the family, bro! (Or sis.) We will meet in heaven someday. :)
@@daffers2345 that sounds creepy lol
I was at a music festival in 2002 and bought an album based off a recommendation by Solid State Records vendor. It was a newcomer to the label and I have not heard anything about this band yet. I was immediately entranced by it and the members who used stage names at the time. 22 years later and not one song ever gets skipped. I can't say that for any other band I listen to besides Norma Jean.
Associates of mine from all walks life will come across Demon Hunter and then ask me if I ever heard of them. Well yes, I have.
Credit where credit is due. Talented, steadfast and devoted. So few bands have ever gone so far for so long and so well, especially in this genre.
Thank you! After repentance comes revelatory revival. Start with me, Jesus!
Sometimes I think I am the only Christian who struggles like this. It is so good to know I'm not alone. It's good to know that it's OK to cry out with prayers like this. Thank you for this.
You are not alone.
No matter the distance that separates one from the other, you are not alone my brother.
God bless you today and always.
Most certainly not. This world is not our home. It would be weird if we didn't feel like this at some point down here.
Insane how this is exactly what I've been feeling 🥲 the comfort of not being alone is very profound, thank you
Heard this one earlier because the "topic version" gets posted before but all I can say is that it doesn't matter I'm here again, you guys got me through some very disturbing moments of my life, I'll always be here ready to enjoy music from you guys, I'm not exactly religious because I struggle a lot to follow the path but you guys music always remind me of the way I should follow, I just wish I could do effectively but sin is always around me,but anyways sorry for the rambling you guys are the greatest band I've ever seen, I'm always paying attention for new releases from you guys lol
No amount of sin is too much for the blood of Jesus Christ to wash away, you only need to repent and put your life in his hands. I pray for you that you would be saved in his name
This is the kind of song that plays when someone is standing in the pouring rain in a movie.
I can kinda picture a final stand scene from a game or movie/show pairing with this so well
Love the mix to this. There’s subtle changes in the effects being used that make it interesting as well as things going on in the background. It’s nice you guys are putting the leftover songs out! Can’t wait for the next album / tour cycle!
Written/recorded around the same time > leftovers. (In fact, this one was made before EXILE.)
@@demonhuntermusic My bad!
this is pure gold, black staind gold. Ryan clark will forever be the goat lyrically and vocally in the genre.
Howard Jones.
Demon Hunter, you make my month every time you release a song, I'll follow you guys to the end, I'm infected with you 💪🏼🔥
Pull the plug already
Really love the somber and mellow way on this song. Can I dream with this tune in a SoDaR 2 in the future? haha
Amazing as always... I know that some fans think that if doesnt have heavy riffs and screams isnt a good song, but I really love this mellow side of DH and the path the the band thrilled with Exile. God bless you guys and please... #ComeToBrazil !
classic
Went on a car ride today.
Hey, Demon hunter released a new song!!
And, wow, I guess it has been 0 days since ive shed some tears listening to a song.
Thanks guys, I needed it so bad.
My absolute favorite band. Wasn’t so sure of this one on first listen but it has definitely grown on me. Thank you for making music that brings me closer to Christ
This gives off some serious unplugged grunge vibes, and those LYRICS 👌. Y'all can't miss!
The immediate silence of the music at 2:24 is so chilling! Honestly, this song has the same remorseful feel as The Tide Began To Rise.
"If this is all the love my spirit can give, there is not a reason more to live"
"and I won't justify this dark and light in one... Please don't cast me out for learning to be numb..."
There's so much power in the emotion of the song without any volume. It's so remorseful and yet, peaceful. I like it alot
Aarrgghh MY HEART! My black, broken heart that has always tried to follow Christ and failed over and over again. This is why Demon Hunter is my favorite band. No other band keeps me grounded and focused on following God, reminding me of who I am and my purpose, the way Demon Hunter does.
Click "Play" and then "Loop" and it's been more than an hour straight that I've been listening to this ... Plus it's raining outside ❤
This song has some powerful and moving lyrics that show just how talented and devoted this band is to making incredible music. Keep up the amazing work guys!!!
Your lyrics have always spoken to me, but this is unreal. This is the type of song you sing alone in a dark empty church, just you and God.
I feel like I have to go meditate on the hills with this one ringing through my head ... I need Christ so bad sometimes I can almost taste it physically. Something about this song ... I don't know. It really hits inside.
I needed this. I really did. Especially struggling so hard with life, and my faith. Thank you 💜
This speaks to my heart.
Thanks Demon Hunter.
You are my boys.
You guys are favorite band. Your lyrics helped me in high school. The novel I am writing, I have used your music for inspiration and for background music.
Very emotional. Really superb!
You guys have been my favorite band since I was 13 and I’m so grateful for you.
And here I am, 20 years later, still listening to this band and still they keep on writing songs that speak to me.
It is seems crazy they are still going twenty years now. I hope for many years to come
The lyrics and melody are haunting and absolutely lovely. Ryan's clean vox are always on point and they are soothing to the soul. 10/10 as usual.
The second verse especially is particularly haunting.
Instant tears. Demon Hunter's music has carried me through so many terrible times in my life, and so many joyful points. Thank you for sharing your art and passion with the world, and with me.
I strongly agree and have experienced the same things!
Lyrics are phenomenal, would love a non-acoustic version. Not necessarily screaming, just harder
Was going to comment the same thing!
I really love Ryan's voice. It's so deep and smooth at the same time.
Wow this song it’s just amazing..
I've been a fan since 2010, since I was 14. I love all your songs. Seen you live at Creation Fest and Uprise Fest! Completely life changing. Thank you for continuing to make music!
That thumbnail lyric about "peace I once heard would follow grace" hits hard guys 🥺😌
3:25 > those lines just hit so within my soul. Can’t even describe with words the feeling it awakens on me. What a masterpiece. Keep it up, you are a wonderful band.
In case you come to Spain, I’ll be there in the front supporting you guys! ☀️
I'm not a Christian anymore. But I like how DH shows That no one is happy all the time. That even the "good guys" have dark days. That rainbows and shadows cross each side of the fence.
The apostles were skinned alive, beheaded, crucified upside down for refusing to deny Jesus. All of them met violent deaths. Paul prayed to be free of his mortal flesh. Jesus never said it would be sunshine and rainbows in this life. "Pick up your cross and follow me". I'd encourage you to reconsider all of that. He takes what was meant for evil and turns it around for good.
I'm not a very religious person, but I have to say, I feel like I am truly blessed every time a new Demon Hunter song/album drops. Especially the slower songs like this that are here for when times grow darker.
Listened to this song when I got the Spotify notification yesterday, blown away, we need more ballads like this Ryan ❤🔥
I from Brazil, I love Demon Hunter!! ❤🎧
Been listening to you guys since 2016. Every song i have listened to has been absolutely amazing. In the process, i found the faith i once lost. So, thank you.
This song just broke my heart and made me want to give you a hug.
Cannot get enough of this style of Demon Hunter! Have been listening to "songs of death and resurrection" all week and it has really been helping me cope with everything, this is getting added to my play list right now!
Big thanks to Demon Hunter for always putting out amazing albums and songs!
I was ultra sad today. DH knows even how I feel and when.
What a great song. Why do so many from our generation resonate with songs like this? What happened to us?
I'll probably never know if people feel like I do, but when I hear songs with lyrics like these it just makes me wonder if there's someone out there I'll get to talk to one day.
Truly a song that has me shocked. Such a soft melody but hard lyrics. Now I’m here sitting in my car wiping tears away. They can do it all. DH has hit us with just another masterpiece of a song that honestly just makes you think about yourself about life and who you’ve become. Thank you for this touching piece
Another amazing DH song! Ryan's vocals are beautiful, and the haunting feel of this song is extraordinary! I've been a loyal listener for 20 years, and you guys never disappoint!
This song is very emotional
Wow, this took me straight back to the self titled album and summer of darkness. Ryan's voice can be so beautifully haunting and this song really lets it shine. As a 22 year listener, this was awesome to hear.
"Where is the peace that I once heard would follow grace?" this got me. - I was thinking about this. We can not ask for things we dont believe in. So if you ask yourself. "Where this peace is, that follows grace", you know there is this peace. Somewhere out there. And it is HOPE that keeps you asking for it. The peace is in Christ, and Christ alone. May GOD give us all HIS peace.
As soon as I got the notification I had to listen. You guys never disappoint! I was at your April concert in Denver last year, easily the highlight of that year for me! Take care and God bless 😊🤘
It comes in the silence and stillness, slowly, but it does come...
This song gave me chills 🔥❤️
I normally prefer the heavier tracks from DH, but this one is one of the hardest hitting I've ever experienced. Definitely a keeper. Thank you, Demon Hunter
Demon Hunter is my second favorite Christian metal band. My first is impending Doom.
Would be cool to see them tour together
I like Stryper, can they join? :)
I'm living in Argentina and i love Demon Hunter too. Thank you for this beautiful melody. I hope God bless you all
What beautiful incorporation of emotions. Thank you again, for making yet more valuable, powerful music. Like to many, this one hit very hard haha
Wasn't expecting this when I clicked on the notification. Life is hectic, lets slow it down a bit like this song.
I feel like there's lore behind this song (I love the song you guys are the best)
This song is exactly what I needed this week. A lot going on... thank you for making music that hits on all spectrums of Christian life. Forever my favorite band. God Bless
It is really more than music now..... same goes to the boys of P. O. D. Emotional passion and a calling
This song struck my heart cords when I heard it, and since it’s so new as i’m in a bad situation with self reflection this song helped me out. Thanks demon hunter, didn’t know you guys for long but your songs truly reach into my soul. Keep up that faith!
I living Brazil i love dimon Hunter
Tho i highly doubt you will see this "Carry me down" stayed with me threw a lot thank you
Sounds like grunge. Makes me think of something in the way by Nirvana.
Seattle has amazing bands. You guys are my #1 Seattle band.
I was thinking the same thing as far as Something In The Way haha
Awesome
I'm not a huge fan of demon hunter, but I really like this song. Awesome
A GREAT BALLAD BY DEMON HUNTER WHICH GROWS ON YOU.THANK GOD FOR YOU GUYS.KEEP UP THE GOOD AND INSPIRING SONGS FOR A VERY LONG TIME.
What a song. And one worth waiting for. Just like all your previous songs, these deep lyrics not only tells a story but it shows us all that we are human. Your songs and music talent is unmatched. Weldone
Such a beautiful song, it hits so hard!! 🖤
Immediately I felt this song harkened back to their Songs of Death and Resurrection album and I was instantly gripped and drawn in. Well done.
Love Demon Hunter and their songs. This song is so incredible. This song reminds me that I can be a Judas at times. I'm so grateful for GOD's mercy and grace. You all are incredible. What a blessing you all are to others.
Conflict is the air we breath, as iron sharpens iron.
Even if the fight is as straight foward as not becoming lazy/complacent. Or as complicated as every kind of evil trying to attack us and destroy our families.
But always fighting to be a Better man in Christ (or woman) will never leave one waiting to die or feeling like the fire has faded.
Sometimes we fickle humans just need a nudge, or rather heavy shove to wake ourselves back up to the narrow path we should, no, need to walk to remain true and faithful.
Hopefully the song is a good reminder for those who need it.
2:24 Silence that hits harder than a wall of sounds.
When the album, War, came out I heard my dad listening to it. It was the first time I heard Heavy Metal, and of course Demon Hunter. And ever since I've become a bigger fan each year that comes! I love you guys, this song is powerful to me. I love these new songs you guys release, this one especially! Keep being awesome and God Bless!
Dang! Bro! Y'all have put out some bangers but this has got to be 1 of the best songs y'all have done. This song is heavy. 🤘
Thank you!
Man this is beautiful kinda bummed we didn't get a new album in april cause it's my birthday month but this well makes up for it
This song reminds me of a person I used to be......because I know who I am today....but your music is so captivating to me
Look I know that people are going to hate that this isn’t hard or even metal but this song is hauntingly beautiful. It is a testament of what they can do. They are and always will be my favorite band.
This song is amazing. Keep up the great work guys. I love all your music. I even got my boyfriend listening to your music and he likes your music also.
Just what I needed for the weekend. Thanks guys for always giving music for the soul.
Another great single, I’d love to see a deep dive into the lyrics on blessed resistance
The composition of this song is amazing..so many wonderful layers. The acoustic was a perfect choice 👌🏼 ✨️ beautiful darkness indeed
This might be the simplest song y'all have ever done...but man oh man is it powerful!
reminded me of the music from the 45 days DVD. also got chills from this.
When it dropped last week i listened, not expecting what i heard. Circled back the last 2 days, it's been on repeat. I told my son it's beautifully depressing. Sounds like a movie track with pure raw emotion and turmoil. It just about brings tears for different reasons. I'd love to hear what Ryan's perspective was when this came out of him. I feel like songs hit harder for me when i understand its intent
I think what Ryan is talking about is the parable of the sower told by Jesus in the book of Mathew Chapter 13. The lyrics of this song are very close to the person in the sower of the parable, One of the people described hears the word of God and received it with joy, this person endures for a while but when the time of tribulation or persecution arise on the account of the word (the bible) immediately this person falls away.
Ryan does explain a lot of the meanings to his songs in interviews and mostly on Demon Hunter's website Blessed Resistance.
What a beautiful song, took my heart and almost make me crying, what sincerely and how Ryan is singing is beautiful art. I don't know what I was going to hear before press play, I was thinking was some heavy, and was heavy but in another way 🥲 what a really beautiful song in some way sad, but frank song
