Not exactly no air cover. There was a handful of Hurricanes that flew out of the Tobruk airstrip, but yes, certainly no where near what the Germans were throwing at the Australians.
Australian relief in place Men of the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment in defences around Tobruk, 10 November 1941. In mid-1941, Blamey, as commander of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF), with the support of the Australian government, requested the withdrawal of the 9th Division from Tobruk. Blamey wrote that the health of the Australian division had deteriorated "to the point where it was not longer capable of resisting attack"; he also wanted to unite Australian forces in the Middle East. Auchinleck agreed but noted that a troop movement this big could only be made by fast warships during moonless periods, to evade air attacks. The Mediterranean Fleet was busy elsewhere, the Inshore Squadron was carrying supplies into Tobruk and Operation Crusader was being prepared. The Australian withdrawal began in the August non-moon period and from 19-29 August, 6,116 men of the Polish Carpathian Independent Rifle Brigade and Czechoslovak 11th Infantry Battalion and 1,297 long tons (1,318 t) of stores were landed.[59] The navy took out 5,040 men of the 18th Australian Infantry Brigade and the Indian 18th King Edward's Own Cavalry, on three destroyers, a minelayer and one destroyer carrying supplies, with cruiser escorts as anti-aircraft ships, a cruiser and a destroyer being damaged. From 19-27 September, the British 16th Infantry Brigade, 70th Infantry Division (Major-General Ronald Scobie), the HQ of the 32nd Army Tank Brigade and the 4th Royal Tank Regiment with 6,308 men and more 2,000 long tons (2,032 t) of supplies arrived, while 5,989 men of the 24th Australian Infantry Brigade left, with no loss of ships. From 12-25 October, the rest of the 70th Infantry Division was delivered and most of the Australians removed. Ship losses on normal delivery runs, led to the 2/13th Australian Battalion and two companies of the 2/15th Battalion remaining in Tobruk. Command of the garrison passed from Morshead to Scobie.[

The original version is in french.! Yu have a bunch of our best french actors in 70ties. Except Harry a german actor who often was used in french movies cose of his perfect french. Ps. : Sorry it s another film... Same title.!!!
The Australian 9th division was there from April 1941. The 2/13 Australian Battalion was there at the end of the siege in late November 1941. The Czech Battalion was part of the early relief of the 9th division. Th British 6th (70th) division was responsible for the Czech supplies.
The Great German 3. Reich protected the Czechs from the Soviets and the Jews. Some fools, however, went to fight among the British, who betrayed Eastern Europe to Bolshevism. In reality, they were fighting for the Soviet- Jewish occupation of the Czech Republic! I know it sounds very strange, but it's true!

he Soviets hated us, they hated our Western democracy. At the same time, our soldiers stood up for White Russia in 1918. Actually, we controlled the whole of Siberia for 2 years. Our founding president hated communists, he was a humanist, a convinced democrat. Russia regarded all Czechs as enemies, until 1941 even the communists were not allowed to write negatively about the German occupation. Many people believed in Russia, many of them fled there at the beginning of the war, died in Russia or ended up in the Gulag for a long time, then they could get to the front, it was a liberation for them. For me, the Western allies were our friends, when they liberated us, they didn't steal, murder, rape. During our liberation, the Soviets killed civilians, raped and stole. That is why the Americans are very popular in the west of Bohemia, they were the real liberators.
Like Many Poles, there were enough Czech refugees in Soviet gulags to form a Czech Military brigade. When Germany attacked the Soviets, the Communists allowed a large number of Polish POWs to form an Army Corps but insisted they leave Soviet territory via Iran, Iraq and Syria to join the British 8th Army in Egypt. The Czech Brigade was joined to this group.
An excellent film. As a Yank, I very much appreciate the homage to Stephan Crane's book "The Red Badge of Courage", which takes place during the US Civil War. I'm one half Czech-American, though both sides of my family emigrated from Europe to the States in the 1880's. Viva the Czech Republic!

How senseless is war. What has it changed since time immemorial? Great movie though.
Greeting from China.
Sad there’s no subtitles …
The English subtitles are there, they are just named as Czech, probably a youtube error.
did the czech army get supplied by the australians?
The Australian 9th division was there from April 1941. The 2/13 Australian Battalion was there at the end of the siege in late November 1941. The Czech Battalion was part of the early relief of the 9th division. Th British 6th (70th) division was responsible for the Czech supplies.
pity the good bits are censored :(
No to je hrůza.😢
Co? Realita války? Nebo ty rádoby korektní rozmazané záběry?
@@kvetoslavaskrivankova8300 to druhé.😊
rozmazané scény..? že by cenzura😁
Algoritmus YT by to bloknul
The Great German 3. Reich protected the Czechs from the Soviets and the Jews. Some fools, however, went to fight among the British, who betrayed Eastern Europe to Bolshevism. In reality, they were fighting for the Soviet- Jewish occupation of the Czech Republic! I know it sounds very strange, but it's true!
Why are those nude scenes blocked.....?
Does this movie have English speaking

Rozmazané záběry ? Přeci nám musí srát neustále dobro a jen oni vědí co je pro nás dobré ! GEORGE ORWELL 1984 Do hajzlu s liberály a cenzurou !
The deliberate blurring of some scenes have spoiled the film for me I will have to give a thumbs down just for that
Oggi scopro che c'erano anche i Cecoslovacchi nella battaglia di Tobruk

Taky říkám jeto o necem
Oh yeah? Why would Czech's be in The Western Desert - not part of the Eastern Front battles!
he Soviets hated us, they hated our Western democracy.
1983 I worked in Tobruk city
Wow, Czechs speak English psychically.
Polska (PL) Brygada Karpacka też broniła Tobruk.
