I've started testing out mixxx, as I want to move away from proprietary OSes on my DJ machines, and I've done a few mixes with it so far without controller hardware and I'm impressed. It does 100% of the things I expect/want it to do. The default layout is intuitive if you're coming from stuff like vdj or Serato, and the automix is very tight (since it's kind of hard to turn a filter knob, volume sliders, and two low end knobs at the same time with a mouse lol) I'm going to really put it through its paces Sunday morning with a pioneer ddj sb3 setup, connected to a macbook air i5 from 2014 to see if a "budget" dj setup is viable. Though I'll be offloading all of the streaming and visualization to an asus rog zephyrus g14 with a Ryzen 9 5600, 32GB RAM and a 6GB RTX 3070 😂 (my normal DJ laptop)
Mixxx is really friendly to system resources compared to commercial software. Let me know please how your trial went... The Mixxx manual is very helpful for setting up but also with all the mappings for the supported controllers. As I mapped my Denon MC7000 mostly according to Serato but some features are unique or different in Mixxx. So check it out for your controller here: manual.mixxx.org/2.3/pt/hardware/manuals.html#controllers
@@OsZ_DJ i was very impressed with how simple the setup went; i plugged in the DDJ SB3, booted the machine, and Mixxx detected the SB3 straight away. All I had to do after that was download a set of bindings from GitHub as a starting point, and modified the SB3 bindings to my liking (it was easier to start with a full set of bindings than starting from scratch) Mixxx runs well, and I'm thinking about installing it on my asus laptop on Windows just for how light on resources it is while being incredibly intuitive if you're used to things like VirtualDJ
Hi - sound distortion usually comes from buffer underruns. Check this first in the preferences, at the bottom of the sound settings page. A common issue also is cpu throttling. Make sure to run your os in performance mode. Hope that helps. If not, feel free to join the Mixxx user forum. Developers are very helpful there. Cheers!
As I don't know this controller in detail I cannot tell you, unfortunately. There are different ways how controllers get notified -some are not possible to program with Mixxx but IF it uses SysEx messages then you can use the controllers screen information. You need to find out though what those SysEx messages are. Check this wiki page where I described to get wireshark to analyse USB traffic - I added examples for the Denon MC4000 and MC7000. github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/wiki/Reverse%20engineering#wireshark-gui-example
Sometimes i heard weird sound like bitcrushing effect from headphones output on midi controller, but master out works fine . I noticed that CPU Is on "Yellow". Do you think i Need to change settings? Thankd
I doubt this is something to do with Mixxx settings. You may just try and give more audio buffers but I honestly think it is a bad connection between headphones and controller either inside the jack connector or cables. If you wanna have some technical support come and join the Mixxx forum and provide some details there. Knowledgeable people all around in the forum maybe can help to narrow down and possibly solve your issue.
Mixxx uses the System driver to connect to the hardware. Anyhow, 96khz sampling rate is the highest you can set in Mixxx - see manual.mixxx.org/2.3/en/chapters/preferences.html# for more info. There was a long discussion inside the developer forum if higher sampling rates should be implemented but at the end the developers agreed not to do so because cons would overrate the pros. Don't be fooled by marketing of commercial software providers - here is an interesting article about the topic: web.archive.org/web/20140416020034/xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/neil-young.html
Schau mal im Wiki, da gibt's paar Ansätze, die eventuell helfen könnten. github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/wiki/hercules_dj_control_mp3_e2?hercules-dj-control-mp3-e2--mp3-le--glow
there is a quite long thread in the forum about mapping this controller, maybe you will join the discussion and up for testing / improving. Some mapping files are attached there already. mixxx.discourse.group/t/hercules-djcontrol-inpulse-500/19739
Just got a numark dj2go2 touch and was hoping to use mixxx with it. For some reason I can only download mixxx 2.2.0 on my Linux chromebook, the software works fine but I can't connect it to the controller, it just says no controller detected. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated 🙏
Hey Lucas - according to the user manual (see here: manual.mixxx.org/2.4/en/hardware/controllers/numark_dj2go2_touch.html ) the mapping was only introduced with version 2.3.1. So you would need the latest Mixxx version. BTW: Mixxx 2.3.2 is just about to be released soon. From a first google search I found you could install Mixxx on a chromebook from flatpak ( www.linuxmadesimple.info/2021/08/how-to-install-mixxx-on-chromebook.html and flathub.org/apps/details/org.mixxx.Mixxx ). you may find other ways to install latest versions as well.... Let me know in the comment once you succeeded, please
Yes i have got like 1000 ideas but as you don't give any details i can only state that it can be fixed. I recommend to come into the Mixxx chat, give some details about your system and version you running as well as details about the error. Please join at: mixxx.zulipchat.com/ (many Developers and users there who can help to narrow down and solve your issue)
is this softver free or you can play only 20min after that your controler not work i have ddj ergo and where to download this ..i downloaded one bat there is no my controler on list and dis denon is not there also
Mixxx is open source software and comes free as in freedom (to modify and share) but also as in free beer ;). It is a community project with very motivated developers who are DJs and creating the Software as they need it. As already mentioned in my first tutorial video, the WIKI is a good place to look for details, e.g. which controllers are currently supported. Check the long list here ... github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/wiki/Hardware%20compatibility#controllers Unfortunately the DDJ Ergo is not yet in there but it can be mapped if you willing to learn how to do it. I wanted to create a tutorial how to start mapping but decided to wait until 2.3 is finally released as the Developers team is changing some important stuff there just now. I personally started to contribute 1,5 years ago to add support for the Denon MC7000, which is included since Mixxx 2.2.4. For Mixxx 2.3 beta I improved and polished it even more...
This could be anything but without knowing details I can not give a hint. Maybe a corrupt file? You could ask within the Mixxx user forum, give your OS, Mixxx version and error description. The forum is very active so this could be solved quickly... Cheers!
I think there is no real sense and no version for android or ios. I saw in the mixxx forum, that someone was working on a RPi implementation. But this is already very limited from computing power. And as digital DJ seriously you would like to have a controller connected to a powerful computer to get mixxx nicely working. I am not really knowledgeable about I pad but I guess you would already have communication issues with a controller and controlling the software only through touch screen is not sensible enough for DJs. I may be wrong but I doubt the developers would release or maintain such a strip down version of Mixxx. Anyway, have fun and try on laptop.
Hehe - funny. But these cases just happen with different hard- and software. Guess we have all been there when a software reserved a device and nothing else could access it 😂
This video really helped me out, appreciate you
I found this tutorial very helpful. Many thanks to you 👍🏾
Happy to know that I could help... Enjoy mixing. Cheers!
thank you so much for this tutorial series !!
Thanks. Glad to know it is helpful for some people. Stay tuned for more tutorials here. Cheers!
how do you define your main output and your headphones output, and how do you isolate the sound in the headphones?
