I'm glad you covered Mixxx. It's super stable, sounds nice and has all the relevant features. I think it would be best used with time coded vinyl but the average user is not using that kind of hardware. I run mine with the Beringer modular CMD gear. And I obviously prefer it over being forced to run a pirated version of Tractor or Serato. That being said Virtual DJ actually has far superior hardware integration than any of the aforementioned. But it's very expensive. Also, the midi learn functionality isn't that great but gets the job done. Proper mapping is done with XML and JavaScript I think.
I have installed this once for a dj friend who's computer broke (I had an old spare laptop, a Dell Inspiron 9800 from 2004) and from what I could tell it worked wonderfully (I selected the preset for his turntables and equipment and it mapped the buttons correctly. Playback seemed fine on the old laptop and the skins looked amazing. From what I gather from this video the situation has only improved from there on! Sadly, my friend simply refused to even try the software because "I've learned the other program and only wanna use that other program" :(

Very underestimated software - Mixxx is as good as every other DJ Software and offers ALL the features they have. It runs Rock-Solid and is perfect for DJ-Newbees. Some DJ-Controller should be used to really enjoy the features, 'cause Beatmatching on-th-fly with a mouse or keyboard is @#§^^!& :D

I am disturbed and i hope that you mention this phenomenon to your viewers because this content is literally life changing and valuable for not only the open source community but for musicians deep into custom tools for less.
Hmm. That's really weird... I wouldn't be surprised if RUclips does that, because I have not enabled any more ads than overlay ones, and since it's impossible to have any say in the matter any more I don't enable ads on any of my new videos going forward. So shoving away my work in favor of ad-enabled videos would be in RUclips's interest. No idea if that's real. Regardless, if you want to stay in touch with the open-source audio crowd that grew around my videos, I'd recommend joining my community at chat.unfa.xyz
if i have an external mixer during my live sets, how do i make sure that i hear in the headphones what is in queue? what do i select in the settings? thanks :)
you have to send audio from deck A and deck B to 2 different outputs on your computer (you need a audio interface with 2x stereo outputs for that) and connect deck A cable to the first channel on your external mixer, deck B cable to second channel on the mixer, and the headphones have to be plugged to the external mixers headphone output. use the monitoring function on the dj mixer
Thanks for doing this! I've been using Mixxx for a while, and I wish more people knew about it! But what skin are you using? I haven't seen that. Re: "It tries to analyze the key of the song ..." Yes, and it *usually* (though not always) succeeds.
In Mixxx 2.3 beta we now have support for libKeyFinder although we haven't added it to our build servers. In my experience so far it is considerably more accurate than the Queen Mary DSP key detection algorithm. If you build Mixxx yourself and have libKeyFinder installed you can use it.
Hi Unfa ,ts me again from Brasil,im releasing a Rock instrumental Album, from my"Band",called " The Unspoken on Sunset - That Couple From the Beach",only with Samples, you should Try Mix Real Instrument Separate Tracks using this App,using the Loop/sync combo.

My problem with this program is if the track has an unsteady BPM the audio becomes glitchy and the pitch becomes unstable. Is there some other program I can correct the BPM in before putting a song in this program?
You mean - MIXXX analysed the BPM incorrect and you wanna correct it? Or you mean, you have a song with an unsteady BPM (wich some lables do to stop the ripping of songs) .... Under the Preferences => Beat detection .. there is a checkbox that assumes a steady BPM for all songs, try to uncheck it - will have to test that later
