    It's great to see another Z4M on the track. I enjoyed tracking my 2007 Z4M roadster for the past 2 years. Love the steering and the S54 motor. It has Bilstein shocks, H&R HD 1" lowered springs, Hawk HP Plus pads. Keep up the good work.

      Thank you! Would you recommend the Hawk pads? I’m going to change mine before next season.

      @@BuzzytheBlue I would recommend Hawk pads. The HP+ pads bite very hard and are great on track but very noisy on the street. I used them for the entire 2022 track season and now trying out the HPS 5.0 b/c of the noise. I also used a square set (245/40R18 Hankook RS4) on a set of track wheels this year; really improved the steering response.

    Not the fastest car out there but for sure the most charismatic one. It looks and sounds totally amazing. A future classic! My budget was only enough for the 3.0i which still is so much fun both on track and on the road.

    Wow! What a beautiful track and the car sounds wonderful. Your driving looks great too, and your shifts are lightning! It's amazing how much suspension transforms a car. Bilstein and PS4S are a winning combo you must be loving it. Also I love that you say that 300HP is enough. I'm so sick of the HP wars with everything needing 500HP, especially for a "sports car" designed for the street. Well done.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  Год назад +1

      Thank you! It was a ton of fun out there. And for me I feel it’s the right balance right now for street or track use. It feels right at home in either use case. Power is always nice, but 300-400hp is a sweet spot for me personally. Enough to feel quick but still very usable, even on the street.

    Moving bro! 🔥 This was the plan with my Z4MR build but I’m big and my helmet sticks past the roll bar so it didn’t pass tech. This lead to learning how to ride a motorcycle and now I track an R1. Lucky for the roadster because I would have abused the hell out of it.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  Год назад

      Thanks man! And aww that sucks about the roll bar clearance lol. Probably a lot easier to maintain a track ridden R1 than the M anyway though haha!

    Looks so different from auto cross. Cool to see the z actually reaching its limits. It'd be interesting to see your thoughts after more track time and if you thing there's more to change on the z or if you're still liking how it performs with the limit its at now.

    • @BuzzytheBlue

      Besides trying to look into seat options, the only thing I'd really consider anytime soon is a set of dedicated track wheels/tires. The stock wheels are quite heavy. Otherwise, really want to put the $$ into getting out more/to different tracks.

    Love this video!! It’s great to see some other Z4M roadster track content out, especially with your summary!! Great recommendation for starting with auto x.
    Did you suffer horrific shoulder wear on your front tires? My fronts are gone in at most 8 hours on track and it’s just the putter shoulder
    Highly recommend PFC 08 pads if you do 20+ minute sessions. They’re pricey but they’ll make up for it in longevity (also SS lines and RBF 660 helps a lot).
    Definitely agree with the seat too… I always leave track events feeling like I got beaten up by Mike Tyson lol. the leather is not grippy at all. Stock setup, you can lock your seat belt and push your seat into to kinda hold you in. Not the best but it helps.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  Год назад

      Thanks man, really appreciate that and the info! I’ll definitely give the PFCs and SS lines a shot for next season. Also, YES, I mangled the shoulders on my fronts. Like re-arranged the tread pattern LOL. Partially my fault for over driving the front end but regardless…

    You've put out some great videos on your Z. I'm kind of looking at these again for an open 2 seater weekend car with a manual that makes a good noise, but these cars are just a bit twitchy in the rear and lacking grip, no? How did the GT4 compare for you grip and handling wise?

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  Год назад +2

      Thanks man. They are in very different realms, not only in terms of outright performance (and cost lol), but how they deliver said performance. The M is extremely fun and still very capable for it's age, but the GT4 is a sportscar masterclass dynamically. It has far more balance and finesse, with absolutely perfect inputs; where the M is a barnstormer, almost more of "muscle car" in the way it gets around a track/road. I've owned mine for six years and never found it lacking for grip, and only "twitchy" when compared to other, larger cars with longer wheelbases. I find it far more interesting to drive than the E46 M3 at the limit, maybe even BECAUSE it is "twitchier". Once you get to know it, I find the M very friendly at the limit, you just need relatively fast hands and some experience.

      @@BuzzytheBlue Your description of the Z relative to the GTS and M3 convertible really connects for me. I used to own a E46 M3 and recently had a 718 GT4 PDK for a week. That car was incredibly sharp, yet oddly almost too perfect / easy to drive. It's like the chassis is so good, it secretly hides all your little mistakes and therfore removes a thin layer of engagement that I actually want from my ride. I have a hard time believing the 981 GT4 is much different due to the inferior electric steering rack on those but there's not doubt in my mind that either is on amother level vs the M3. I'd probably get tarred and feathered for this in the forums but the E46 (on 19" forged CSL replicas) just wasn't THAT exciting and sharp to me later on, especially the steering. To be fair, the extra weight of the convertible probably added to that but a drop top is a must for me. Which brings me back to the Z: one of the other things I wasn't impressed on the M3 was the Getrag 6 speed manual (Taking cover again). I did the CDV delete and weighted ZHP knob, new Trans fluid, and shifts still felt pretty notchy. How is this for you in your Z? Any noticeable difference to the E46?

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  Год назад +1

      @@getdealtwithquick People are very protective of the E46 and E39s haha, I've spent many many miles in the M3, M5, and Z4M and always enjoyed the Z4 the most. The Z uses a ZF 6-speed rather than the Getrag from the M3. I find it to be more positive, less notchy, but ever so slightly more temperamental when trying to shift very quickly. However, that was really only in the beginning, after years of owning the car I have zero complaints with the ZF. Works beautifully, even on track. It sounds like the Z4M may be the option for you, and thankfully, although prices have held strong, they haven't gone stratospheric like the M Coupes or E46s.

    It's odd that your stock front camber is 0. My Z4MC's stock front camber with the camber pin in place is about 1.5 degree. Perhaps it's the difference between Roadster and Coupe?

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  Год назад

      Not a particularly fair comparison between the cheaper/older M and a GT4 lol. These first gen Z4s compared pretty well with the first gen Cayman S tbh. But I I agree, BMW basically gave up on making a Cayman/Boxster competitor after the Z4M.
