    Hi Sandi
Thank you for educating us city dwellers. There is a general belief among city dwellers that all farm animals are mistreated. There is no mistreatment here which you clearly show. And your barn is so clean! It’s clear you are caring for the sheep with love and it’s a beautiful thing to see. I’m amazed at how much hard constant work farming is. People really need to learn about farmers and their expertise in many many areas.
Intelligence and expertise = farmers. Thank you to all farmers everywhere

This reminds me of a saying

A good rancher (and one that wants to stay in business) puts their animals before themselves. A bad rancher is a rarity. Please spread the word to your fellow city dwellers 😁

@@justinrees2400 yes and no these are family farmers but on a factory farm if you're a worker there you get paid for 8 hours work no matter if you do a good job or not. I'm not certain but. I'm willing to bet most animal abuse comes from factory farms

Unfortunately there seems a lot of people on here that claim there farmers then start asking for money or selling merchandise thats why i like your videos honest farmers paying there bills, taking care of business, raising kids and supporting each other.

You have the Cutest Lambs. That Mum was very Good with all those Lambs. I couldn't help but notice how cracked your hands are. You can try a Parafin Wax dip. Where you put you hands in warm Wax and then peal the wax off or there is some stuff called Working Man's Handa that works real good at sealing and healing the cracks. If you can't find that in Canada let me know and I'll send you some. I know how bad my hands hurt when their cracked. Love watching you Lambs. God Bless and Peace Be With You ☮️🙏❣️

First of all the amount of work you put into your record keeping is amazing. I never knew you had to do so much work keeping track of the breeding and lambing of lambs. Secondly the amount of work that you do in keeping the place clean for them is also amazing.
Then as I am watching this video I see the mama lambs all lined up for kisses from the family dog!!! I don’t think I have ever seen something like this. I also love that the babies lay on top of the Mama’s backs it’s soo cute!!!

Sandi - I join Lynne in thanking you for educating us city kids. The work of farming is truly hard. We can see it in both you an Mark, in the fatigue around your eyes. I would tell you to get some sleep, but what you do is so ingrained into who you are, that you cannot help yourselves. Blessings to you, Mark, and the kids, from a retired Lutheran Pastor in Davenport, Iowa. And like you, I could watch the lambs loving life all day long.

I love that you band the lambs tail. Only because in my animal agriculture class I was forced to use two hot plates and cut off the tail. To me that was traumatic and I cried and cried over it. I understand the purposes of doing it but I didn’t like being forced into it. I love your channel and all the little lambs! ❤️

    • @clarehagley2165
      @clarehagley2165 5 лет назад +4

Tescia Battko. As traumatic as your experience was, it has turned out to be a excellent learning experience. When you compare and perform different practices you get a feel to which one YOU prefer and feel comfortable performing. Experiences like this cannot be taught in books.
I’m a human midwife and I have birthed babies all ways and positions. You definitely find your favourite way to practice. But if you have no other choice, you are able to use another method safely.
I have seen that hot knife and the pile of lamb tails in a video. I also wonder how painful a band is in the first few hours, when you get the pins and needles effect. It would be interesting to read so research studies on the effects of tail docking and pain levels.
Musing was used in Australia to keep the sheep safe from getting fly blown which is a horrible way to die. People don’t realise that sheep stations are massive in Australia and sheep were Shawn once a year. Now the farmers need to roundup their sheep several times a year

Interesting. 🙂 And you have the same marker paint as me! Haha! But I don't like how long it stays on my fleeces so have gone back to the brand I used to use.

It's tough any time of year when you get this far into a major season of work or task. I can totally relate!! But add to that the Christmas and New Year's holidays when there are so many other family and friend priorities that are also essential to our LIFE priorities and it makes it SOOOO much tougher to keep after the details in the barn. Wish we were neighbors and I could offer a little help with the extra tasks that roll around. I'd be glad to spell you long enough to catch your breath. (And maybe get a good nap!)

Thank you for showing me how the Gallagher works. We still use paper and pens to track our flock. As the person that does the paperwork, it gets to be TOO much. We will have 4-H kids that help us some years and since cursive (good readable) handwriting is no longer taught in school. I get very frustrated trying to read crappy handwriting. The Gallagher system would be dream come true for me. Thank you for being shepherd.

Joy Lumley 😂I really liked how the ones in the waiting pin were so nosy. It was like “what’s happening? What is she doing to do?!”

Recording the babies might be so routine for you but it’s great to come along. Cracks me up that your dog likes to clean the lambs’ ears and they seem to like it too.

In these scary days of unrest here in the states..it is pure joy to watch Sandy and her lambs. Too bad we can't take a bit of her optimistic and caring and make a "nice" vaccine for all these mean people out here.

Another wonderful vlog. Your young ewes are a beautiful group.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼How cool about the ewe lambs being next to their mom’s.

Ive never raised sheep but I’ve calved 1st heifers off and off since I was 12. For 5 years I calved 500 head a year. No barns. God Bless you. I’ve laid in snowdrifts with my arm in to my shoulder for malpresentations. Then ride traps and shuffle them around
