I would change the loom to the MAF. I follow forums on Facebook for Vauxhall Vivaros and they say a good way to check if the MAF is working on not is to have the on idle and unplug the MAF. If it cuts out then its fine but if it idles the same the the MAF isn't working beacuse the ECU is compensating for a faulty sensor, give it a go Mark?
One of those wires at that joint will feel different. Either a notch or kink. If not then give each one a gentle tug at the joint. If the wire has snapped inside , the insulation is so weak it will snap at the damage point. Good luck
I'm not auto electrician, but the glow timer will take a signal from IAT sensor,to establish how long the glow plugs need to be powered up before key is turned.i would first go through every fuse/relay in the boxes (Sam units) because testing items is free.there should be trace voltages present at sensor plug.maybe get a copy of thatcham for the vehicle.
Hi bud, when you moved the loom you probably made the broken wire touch which made the circuit. Once driving the movement broke connection. So I think you will need to visit the loom again
Hello Mark, great video, strange for the light to come back on again, even though it cleared.spray some WD-40 inside the connector,or try the meter back on the plug and move the wires to see that makes a broken wire or not.
@@Steven85-8i Hi mate yeah very strange I was playing around with the wires and it cleared something strange need to play around hopefully I can find it 👍👍
If the core of a wire is damaged/broken, messing around with it might have temporarily restored it's ability to conduct current. This isn't necessarily noticeable on the isolation of the cable! If the error re-occurs test each single cable on the affected harness for conductivity. Unplugging the ECU might also have initiated a re-boot of the entire management system and the error fault might not be inmmediately generated. Checking the live data might also help to narrow things down. I hope you can return/sell all of these unnecessary parts.
I thought the MAF (mass airflow meter) just measures the amount of air coming into the induction system not the air temp .... there must be another sensor elsewhere as it mentions a cylinder and bank specifically Mercedes Benz - All that glitters isn't always gold
What you did was essentially the "Jiggle the wire" test. At least the code is different now. I suggest you take a hard look at the wires going from the ECU to the MAF. The old MAF may very well be bad, the the wiring is clearly suspect.
Id have one more crack at fixing it ,then maybe sell it as a trade sale or cut your losses and stick in auction, German cars cost lots when they go wrong
Unfortunately Mercedes are not what they used to be lots are Renault in drag and shit wiring my son has a A class and had no end of problems and some wiring looms replaced

Was the wire strapped too tight and stopped a signal through to the sensor

It could be a partial break in the wire, like tailgate wiring in the fiat 500s

@@giancarlorotter6331 Hi mate apparently the temperature sensor is part of the maf sensor
My last comment was before I watched video.there is a broken/stretched wire inside the insulation, similar to what happens on tailgate looms.
It’s testing you out , strange as it must be a broken wire somewhere ?
Would replace wires Auto electrical is correct
The sparky is right, check the wires in the sleeving. Wiggle the wire and the light goes out.
@@jason5783 Hi mate I really need to find the problem and fix it 👍👍
@ strip the sleeving back, you will kick yourself if you call in a sparky and it’s just that.

So if it’s running and driving ok What you need is a little piece of black tape Mark ! stick it over the engine management light ! Problem solved 😂😂

remove the turbo pressure sensor and see if exhaust gases come out
I still, think it’s the wire or bad contact with plug and sensor! Use switch /contact cleaner.
turbo pressure sensor pipe clogged
use live data mate
Live data check, or auto electrician
A pain in the arse,.wiring related by the looks of it

that was my problem and you are looking in the wrong place
