I remember Spats Bear did something similar with a Lasko 3733 that Emerson Collie beated the crap out of, he bypassed the thermal fuse and ran it, but plugged into a 220v outlet. I'm surprised the thing ran longer than a minute before letting out a big spark and dying, he also had the stator in backwards so the blades spun the wrong way lol.
Capacitor probably didn't die completely but lost most of its capacitance, very little torque may indicate that. Try replacing it, maybe it'll run again XD

The magnets are the first to fail when it comes to overheating, I've done it before with a older unit back in the day lol

i would imagine maybe it’s got something to do with the windings and how the capacitor interacts with the burnt-out windings?
