shooting:
I used S-log3(PP9) in this video. But I don't recommend S-log3(noise and color banding...).You should shoot with S-log2(PP7).
F5.6-F8@day(with Tiffen variable ND filter),F1.8-F5.6@night,SS1/50,ISO800-6400,AWB
shoot in over exposure(+1EV - +2EV).
color grading:
I'm using Lumetri color in Adobe Premiere Pro.
0.preparing... start Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015. make cinemascope ratio sequense.put clip in time line.
1.create adjustment layer and put above the clip.
2.add Lumetri color in adjustment layer.
3.select LUT in Lumetri color.
4.add Lumetri color in the clip.
5.change parameters as follows(example for night footage).
contrast:-25,high light:-50,shadow:+50,white:+35,black:-25
reduce red in RGB curve
6.adjust brightness with exposure parameter in each clip.
Sometimes I forget that camera is on the second place. The first is talent.
talent it is. well said.
Vlad Moseev
Lens>talent>camera
Lens>Edition>Talent>Edition>Camera>Edition
both factors

Talent is obviously more important then the lens, just having a good lens wont make you better at composing.
The best Sony a6300 video I saw so far
+Video DSLR Tutorial I agree!
+Video DSLR Tutorial It just shows what can be recorded with just a small camera and sensor.
$1000+ in lenses help
for what? video or photo
Fabulous video
Excellent footage. No unnecessary sweeping gimbal nonsense. No shaky handheld camera. Just good tripod placement, nailed the focus. This is how it's done.
It wasn't just a test. It was kind of dramatic. A mirror of today's world. A research of beauty. It's f***ing art!!!
Sony should pay you, I feel like a lot of people will buy an a6300 based off this video.
I know this video certainly helped convince me
nice vid!! make sure to go check out my channel ruclips.net/video/vnE_tWtM3ug/видео.html
True! Now i want one, but i rather take his eyes 😀😅👀
Jezz... Thanks to you i have the 6500, nice, beautiful and awesome video!!! 👍
Haha I actually just purchased one because of this video.
You're video description is by far the best I've ever seen in helping anyone understand your workflow and setup. Thanks!
The composition of each shot is perfect. Before any piece of gear, is talent.
And lens matters as well. If smartphones had interchangeable lenses like pro cameras do then it would make quite a difference
the cloudy weather is really helping the dynamic range...would love to see a video test in a sunny day
You should make a film just featuring shots of Tokyo
It would be beautiful
SIMPLY IN LOVE WITH THE QUALITY AND THE FEELING OF THIS VIDEO
This video hit me right in the feels. Returned from a Japan vacation about 2 weeks ago and miss it a ridiculous amount..
This was beautiful! I felt like I was watching a movie that was leading up to something! You've got talent!
C'est pas un test , c'est un très beau film . Merci à toi
Just bought it three days ago. I'm squealing at how incredible the A6300 is and I honestly can't wait to unlock its full potential.
The image you produce is better than many motion pictures I've seen darwinfish. :) The aesthetic is very clean. Very nice work !
I love that you give us all details of your shots in description, that helps me a lot. Thanks.
great video test
Amazing video, and amazing low light! Saw this and now I know I want a6300!
Wow. I can't wait to get my hands on this camera. This is movie quality
This footage is gorgeous. It gets me wanting to buy the a6300 more and more
Heh... takes some time to appreciate how good some of the shots are.
Like the Yellow Doctor passing the maru ichi. That's a really rare lucky shot and done really well.
I've been researching for a camera for the last few days. I've begun to appreciate the relentless pursuit of perfection by some of these commenters. Some people are just never satisfied. It seems to be an awful rabbit hole. I kind of like the shutter on this, it has a cool style.
this is amazing! thanks for sharing this, undoubtedly the best and most intriguing a6300 video test ive seen
this color grading is a little bit washed out for my taste, but great video and camera nonetheless. I'm definitely gonna buy this one!
Wonderful work!
I love what this little camera is able to deliver (in capable hands), very impressive.
a6300 is amazing... im going yo buy this one!.
Loose quality or iso when shoot at 120fps?
+Triangle Entertainment I did not try with 120fps.
+darwinfish105 ok! thanks anyway^^
things that are happening in our everyday life is most beautiful.
love the color grade.
your videos are helpful
This was gorgeous, I was considering upgradig to a mirrorless and you sold me on the a6300
has anyone filmed like this using this camera?
its amazing but i feel like this is too good to be true.
nothing like anyone else has ever done. maybe this guy is just exceptional.
Amazing talent, awesome video and a beautiful city
You deserve more subs! Your videography is so good!
I loved the camera work! Great vid. I am looking forward to watching your other ones! I just might buy this camera myself.
4K追加版が出るとは思ってたけど、やはり出ましたね
Sonyのカメラはシャープなんだけど独特の柔らかさが占めてて好きです
コントラスト再現性が高く感じる。
Wow. Good image quality and camera work 📸
Stunning work. Your exposure levels are perfect!
I remember going to all these places. I miss japan
It's awesome . Just like a Cinematic clarity. I love the way you shoot @darwinfish105
Love this. Please don't stop making these.
It's really amazing ! Thanks for sharing you settings.
INCREDIBLE.....while some people make videos to complaint about the a6300, a few go on and make BEAUTIFUL works like this man did here!
This video is a complete piece of Art.
damn, what a "test" video. The scene and the music synced so well that i almost feel sad from the mood it brought me !
This is wizardry- good! Amazing work as always.
these shots are too beautiful
I love the colour grading on this!!!!
Nice video, good work!
Finally, i video that actually 21:9, not just black bars added in :)
man sony really does some amazing gear now!
i hope they continue creating great stuff!
thanks for sharing this with us
Amazing video! I want the A6300 to be my very first camera now. This deserves a thumbs up and i'll definitely subscribe!
Beautiful as always...
amazing videos. good work bro. btw did you have some canon 80d shots? i really appreciate
your work is yet by far the best that i've seen and it's even better than my teacher video. :)
amazing colors.... I love it.
It's a fantastic video. So beautiful shots. The camera is similar perfekt.
It's become such a trend to put over a foggy contrast in filming
I find the rolling shutter not exactly a big deal, as long as there's no sudden change of scene. That being said, nice video! Love my a6300.
I'm surprised that kit 16-50 could make so yummy picture!
Excellent quality with kit lens. Great video
Im impressed how you didnt have such a massive rolling shutter on the train shots while filming in 4k.
Might not have been using 4K.... or maybe they're using a high FPS.
to shoot cinematic type videos you want it to be 24 fps
BF2 noob question, why 24fps?
that's industry standard all movies are shot in 24fps but to shoot in slow mo it is recommended to shoot no less than 60fps
Beautifully shoot!! this video gave me confidence.
What lens did you use?. And how to minimalize the rolling shutter? Its noticeable on my footage. Nice vids btw
Btw may I ask you opinion. Im considering buying the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 to use with my a6300. Since both the lens & camera doesnt have any stabilization, would it be hard to shoot videos with it handheld?
Plus also wanna ask, why did you shoot the night scene in over exposure? Since im a newbie to videography might as well & learn from you. Thanks for the great video.
great videos man! such nice quality always.
For someone who doesn't recommend using S-log 3, you sure sell it like a pro!
This is composed beautifully. Great job.
I am in Tokyo, and I was hoping you would pick up this camera to review it. I can't wait to see your work using this :)
+elysiumcore did they finaly finished the building side in shibuya?
+FeeDBacKMKII I stopped by Shibuya briefly still under construction but wow - sections of the finished station are awesome
elysiumcore what they building there again? by the way tokyo is such a dynamic City its changes always every time I visit this City there is something new.
+FeeDBacKMKII Construction of around Shibuya Station will continue until 2027.
+darwinfish105 so long? now I am excited too see how it will Looks like
should have never bought that nikon...
Literally my thought
It's you, not the camera
Are you a filmmaker or a camera seller?
nice vid!! make sure to go check out my channel ruclips.net/video/vnE_tWtM3ug/видео.html
IFDH777 I just returned mine
nicely shot as always. The jello effect is really noticeable though. What do you think about the high fps capabilities? Is it as noisy as people says?
+Gideon Gunawan Not tried.
Wow incredible & thank you for the informations that you give us in the description
Love your style man!
absolutely awesome Bro! love the grading too! How's the low light performance. Looks good to me. I've also heard that the HD footage is below par compared to 4K. Is that true?
In my use of this camera, the low light performance has been great. Sony makes excellent sensors, and I was impressed with the picture quality of the a6300 at higher ISOs.
Excellent video. Congratulations. And thank you very much for sharing the information on how it was done.
how cool, that color grading
This looks like it could be a legitimate film.
Really mesmerising. What lut did you use to achieve the mood !
Amazing work!
Beautiful images, and good choice of music. Love the colour/look of S-Log3. Which LUT did you use?
+microbroadcast Please check my description.
Hi, nice video!
I was just wondering how far you had to push the variable nd filter in slog3 mode, with the minimum ISO being 800... It really brighten the image? I'm asking because I own a Genustech Eclipse Variable ND filter, and based on my experience with my Canon T5i, i've always put minimum ISO (100), but often got the X factor/vignetting effect in my image. I guess it wouldn't be possible to shoot wide open (ex: f1.8), with shutterspeed 1/50, minimum ISO (800) and still get a clean image without X/vignetting messing up right?!
Thanks!
Solution.
1.Do not shoot at the wide-angle.I basically shoot video at 50mm (35mm equivalent).
or
2.Stack the non-variable ND filter.
You're stuff is so amazing! I'm a huge fan. I always watch your stuff for inspiration. Would you mind sharing what format you're recording these? (4K, AVHD, etc) and what frame rate? Thanks so much for all your blog posts. We all appreciate all the hard work you put into your films. =)
4K,XAVC S,24p
bought sony a6300 after watching this video... Sony should pay you commission.. nice work! :)
The image is quite beautiful. Have you had trouble with overheating of the camera? I've read a lot about costumers who used this camera, who had this problem, so did you experience it too?
I shot in the cloudy sky in winter, so I did not experience overheating. It will overheat in the summer.
Hi, awesome footage. Question: when shooting 4K, are you using 3:2 or 16:9? Thanks a lot
Has this been color graded? Awesome! looking forward to buying one.
color graded Impulz LUT.
Love this work! Awesome!
Single frames but very cinematic! 👏🏻
S-log3難しいですよね。
参考にさせていただきます。
Is it alright if a few clips of this video in a youtube video of mine? I will give credit in my description, thank you
That blown me away totally
Very good videography as better, I have to say this one is among the better ones you have done, the camera seems to be really good too.
Too bad my NX1 has really awful NOISE over 3200 ISO because of the in-camera noise reduction that cannot be turned off.
very nice and great Example!
Nice but odd rolling shutter!
nice video!
Needs a little more Color contrast switched in the settings. Too dark and plain but Great Recording
Which lens setup are you using? I'm planning to by the camera tomorrow but still unsure about the kit lens? I'm for sure getting the speedbooster for my canon l series glass what's your thoughts
+Buster Tronolone
kit lens for daytime video and combination with a7RII+16-35mm for time lapse.
SONY E 35mm f1.8 for video at night.
SONY E 10-18mm for time lapse.
You should use Canon IS lens for handheld video shooting.
great video...
and thank you so much for detail information in description it helped me a lot
Man I love your videos...I would love to buy this camera very soon. Any problems with it?
This would be helpful to you.

Thank you!!
This is amazing! Impressive! By the way, what software did you use in making this video?
Adobe Premiere Pro.
Your camera work ... Is legit
Hi, Darwin! I have to say, this is one amazing test/review of the camera. Color grading's excellent. I'm currently torn between A6300 vs RX10ii. I've read a lot of reviews and watched tons of videos about the abovementioned cameras. Your recommendation would be of great influence to my decision.
Both cameras have enough performance.
The choice of camera depends on whether you think need a lens exchange.
The camera is only just a tool.
Videographer's talent and skills, attractive location, weather and time, music that you want to use, post-processing are far more important than whether to use the camera.
How are you liking the E PZ lens? Since you've had it for awhile, would you recommend any other lenses or is this one fairly good overall?
It is enough E PZ16-50mm to shoot during the day and E 35mm F1.8 OSS for night shooting.
