That version of Mo Ghile Mear sends shivers up my spine. I've raved about this series elsewhere, so I won't carry on and on. Few things in life are perfect. The BBC Four Highland Sessions are as close to perfect as music gets. Or so it seems to me.
You should check out the Transatlantic Sessions from the 90s..it's all on you tube ..brought the best of USA musicians with Scottish English and Irish ( maybe a few Welsh)..it was a fantastic series with brilliant music
An Spealadóir (The Scytheman) 1:00 Iain Ghlinn Cuaich (John of Glen Cuaich) 4:17 An T-Each Iarann (The Iron Horse) 8:46 An raibh tu aig an gCarraig? (Were You at the Rock?) 12:10 A' Bhean Eudach (The Jealous Woman) 16:23 Failte gu baile Ghrainne (Welcome Home Grainne) 19:37 Mo Ghile Mear (My Dashing Darling) 24:12
Just found! Certainly shivers on spine stuff. Very moving. I have danced many strathspeys to the iron horse but slower! My singing friends will be hearing if these sessions.
@@mariapalmer5671 and by the way, I love your music. I learn how to singing Irish and Scottish girl music a lot. That's how I learn how to sing in Irish Gaelic because I'm proud of my ancestry. I asked my dad to get me some highland bagpipes for my birthday and I asked my grandma to get me a kilt. Is it true that people who are kilts where no underwear?

What a series It brought tears to my eyes. I am an Australian but love Irish and Scottish folk music. God bless you all in these troubled times.
What is especially striking here is that a song about a man wielding a scythe is turned into an epic.
DAMN! I miss Franky Kennedy's flute.
Never hear anything like this on American TV. Its a shame as many of us have English, Irish, Scottish heritage. Thanks for posting these.
