How to Remove white space in an Excel Clustered Column or Bar Chart when your series do not have all the data points.
If someone stumbles upon this video and manages to make the chart but then has trouble to add the error bars, I am here to tell it is possible. You have to arrange the standard deviation data in the same way as the main data. Then, when adding personalized values of the error bar, you have to select the errors for the entire series, essentially a column that will select the error bars for that series.
You are amazing I have been looking for a video like this so desperately
Thank you so much. This was very helpful.

Hello,
Thank you for making this video.
I have a problem in my sheet the Series 1 doesn't show up under the Bar 1 in my graph.
Could you help me in this
I am not sure how to help. Select your chart and then select Design Ribbon>Select Data> and then select the Legend Entries (Series) = Series 1 and move it up or down with the arrows under Legend Entry (Series)
Thank you!
Thankyou So Much!!
Thanks for the nice comment Helix!
hi do we get the same results if we put the formula na() in the blank cells ?
Hi Sam, depends on what your question is. If you mean will =NA() remove the gap. No, you must restructure the data. In the data itself, =NA() will show no column or =0, but the gap will remain.
It works.. thanks a lot
Great, so glad to help. Glad it worked as well :) thanks for the comment.
how to arrange the data for standard error if we do this type of data arrangement?
Do you mean to add error bars?
Hey man. In your final chart at 7:00 series 3 alternates from grey (subject 1) to yellow (subject 2) and back to grey (subject 3).
ProperJimmied Thanks ProperJimmied. Sometimes there are editing errors. Let me know if you need additional help with the concepts.
What happens if you don't want the series name to show?
Γεώργιος Νιάρχος Hello. Check out Step 11 in this post. You can select and delete individual legend series:www.exceldashboardtemplates.com/how-to-add-centered-labels-above-an-excel-clustered-stacked-column-chart/There is also a video link at the bottom of the post.
Hope that helps. Steve=True
Great explanation. You did make a mistake in putting Subject 2 Series 3 in the wrong cell. You will notice that the color for Series 3 is grey, except for Subject 2. Small mistake, but we get the gist of it.
NoelAndres17 Thanks for the help and comments.
sounds like better call saw
LOL!
