THANKS A LOT AND A LOT AGAIN, DEAR CATHLEEN, BESIDES YOU ARE A SUPER GREAT ARTIST, YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT TEACHER, "WE HAVE TO FIND OUR OWN MIXTURES", OF COURSE. AGAIN, THANKS A LOT, ENJOY YOUR BEER, YOU DESERVE IT. GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS FROM MEXICO CITY. 👍👏🤗🌈
Thank you so very much for taking the time to really explain how you mix your paint and how to adjust four different paints and styles. You’re my inspiration!
You are a gifted teacher. Your lesson reminds me how some people prefer to cook by a precise recipe, but many people just "whip something up", based on principles they have mastered over time. For instance, you can play fast and loose making up a casserole recipe, but making up a cake recipe may require more precision, and possibly more failed attempts. You have inspired me, yet again.
Cathy, this a diamond in the rough! A goldmine of information! Thank you so much for the visual explanation. Indeed, so many variables to the desired results. Now can you explain how to make videos, upload to RUclips and that whole process? Just kidding. That’s what keeps me from posting! You rock! 🥰🌹
Haha! I know you’re kidding BUT I so wish she would because I’ve wanted to start a pouring RUclips channel but have no idea how or where to begin!! She’s such an amazing teacher!! 💐💖💐
🌈...you're so sweet...😊....and Molly is totally right! You have to find your own way because everyone's painting/pouring journey is their own. But ...it's so nice to have all these talented individuals to share the journey with...😊
Wonderful Cathleen! I think you answered a lot of commonly asked questions, The best thing is how you said we all find our own way, not that it’s easy… I remember how it was it first. Like everyone else I started and mimicked other artists, it was not the funnest time in my fluid art journey, but then! Mixing and playing with paint has become such a joy, and part of a beautiful process that I call my own. Thank you for spreading that powerful message. Art is so much fun, and it gets magical after we stop stressing about doing it perfect.✨🤘
hi you are the sweetest kindest lady ever. I watch several of you videos per day. you are my teach. Thank you so much for making this clear. I wish I had a way. to show you what I've learned. I've progressed more in the last 3 months than in the last 3 years. Thank you thank you thank you. Taffy
Thank you. I should have just looked this up instead of troubling you while you are with your family. God Bless you and yours. Sometimes we need reminders that our Inspirations have full complete lives of their own!
Wow. What great info for the different mediums and paints. I've been struggling to get the right consistency for a very long time. This is going to help a lot! Thank you for the demo.
Just saw this video. Excellent demo on how to mix paints. Some artists try to show the consistency when they do a pour, but their hand hides it, or the color is too dark. This was extremely helpful because I've been struggling with consistency for a long time now. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your skill. It is deeply appreciated!
Cathleen....this has been the greatest.... simplistic explanation of how do do this....wow...I'm so excited.....my paints are obviously too thick!!!!! Thanks!!!
This is an area where I have been struggling. Thank you so very much for sitting down and explaining your techniques to us. You made it make sense, and I am ready to give it a try and "make my own way."
Cathy, your painting technique is exceptional, of course you have your own personal way but it is does not match with other one. I love your painting technique and absolutely gorgeous design, don't worry what other says please keep going and stay with your formula. I love ❤️ your paintings.
Perfect explanation! I've found the climate in your location can determine how you mix your paints too. Here in Arizona, I'm not going to mix my paints exactly like Molly's who lives in Florida. Love this video, now my Sparky knows what I'm talking about when trying to explain high flow vs tubes because he watched it with me! Thank you!!🤗🥰💕
Wow. This video is wonderful. Finally something is making sense. Hope you kepr it cold. Better yet start with a new one. You deserve it! Can't wait to try this out. 😊
That's an awesome way of teaching paint consitencies. If you do not mind I'm going to call it "THE PAPER CONSISTENCY PLATE"! I mean that demo can't possibly break it down anymore. This method can be used by everyone.... mix the paints to what feels and appears the dripping off the stick, BUT THEN....BEFORE your actual pour. Pour a bit of each color out onto the plate and tilt it up for visualization of the rate at which the paints you mixed flow, and make adjustments if necessary. Thank you cathleen!
That’s it girl. That’s what I did in the beginning of my painting journey. Then you get use to just the way it feels when your stirring. Then you can do it blindfolded 😊😊😊😊😊🎨😊
You are wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to help all of us! If you were close by I would buy you an ice cold beer! 🍺🍻⚘ Now to figure out why I have little bumps in my finished pours.😩
Thank you Kris 🍻🍻🍻are the little bumps usually when you do swipes? Happens to me. Air bubbles forming under the paints due to the swiping. I need to torch the hell out of it sometimes. I also tap the canvas a few times.
@@COZCreationsArt Hi! The bumps happen on most of the techniques I do, but not every time and not as many on some than on others. I wonder now, if I haven't been as consistent in my attempts to remove the air bubbles on each pour. I had someone tell me that I wasn't mixing my paints long enough and mixing them ahead of time. Tapping the canvas has always worked best for me, and I think I've gotten a little lax with that step. It seems that I had read on a couple of posts that you can use a fine sandpaper to remove bumps, is that true?? Once I get the bumps under control, I need to do some serious varnishing on the collection I'v created! ♥♥♥
Thank you so much Cathleen!! So many questions answered 💖I talked to you about your sweeps . Finally got consistency right I’ve been using plastic file separated but switching to paper towels and I think I’ll have it, thanks to you. I’m like you, you followed your teacher I’m following you 💕💕💐
Thank you so much Kathleen. I have been watching painting videos for months now and have been taking notes from various artists. I have yet to buy my supplies and do my very first painting. This information is very much appreciated. By the way, language is something that often changes and evolves, you could make "thickerer" a new thing. Love from Queensland, Australia 😊❤🐨
Thank you sooooo very much and yes it helped a great deal. I have so many paintings that I feel are ugly because of the texture of the paint. You are the Best🌷
wow! while enjoying a beer, i came across your mixing paints video. you are an angel, your patience is great. really appreciated the video! cheers from Canada.😉
Hello from Charlotte, dear new friend. First thank you so much for this video, you are very generous sharing your time and knowledge, I really appreciate it. I can tell that you are a very special lady. I have learned a lot from watching your videos, I'm afraid of using metal paints I'm not into sparkles, golds or anything of that nature, but I'm going to venture and paint with copper after watching you paint with it I really liked the results you achieved, copper is a metal color I really like. I'll let you know how it goes. Love your town, I can see myself living there.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love all of your artwork and the neutral colors you use. After watching your videos for the past 3 months, Im finally brave enough to buy the paints and this video helped me know the difference. I’ve seen the other videos about how to mix paint but you added extra details that I needed. I’m so grateful to you! You rock!
Dear Cathleen with a “C”, that was great! Thank you! I know I’ll have to watch it a few more times (maybe more than a few) before it’s all sinks in. But I understand it way better than I did.
That was very informative and I wish it had been available 18 months ago! Consistency for the job! Consistency, consistency consistency! A different consistency for each paint style. You can feel it when you stir. When I give lessons the students still want a recipe - ALWAYS, I give them a lot of time until they get it right, even if it takes hours. If they are new to pouring, I always use just one brand for the lesson. You’re so right, in the end they have to be able to make it work themselves (or stick to only one brand - and that doesn’t always work as the paints still vary). If they/I haven’t got hours I might pre-mix the paints. Some only want to make one painting. Others are hooked! I tried for 3 months using lots of paint, lots of canvases and blood, sweat and tears, until I worked out my Dutch Pour consistency. I could make a good pour, but it wasn’t until I worked it out for myself that it became second nature. Other pours were easier than Dutch Pours, the consistency was more forgiving, as were swipes. I consider it therapy to spend an evening with a glass of wine, cups, paint and mediums. That gives me time to anticipate the joy of starting with new colours the next day.
My therapy as well Rael. That darn Dutch Pour. I am working on those consistency’s right now. I just can’t get it right for me yet. I prefer to not flood my paints with the base coat color. I will not give up. Thanks for always joining me Rael. Stay well 😊
Thank you o much your so sweet I am just starting out and kind of enjoying it but finding it quite Complex but you give me the encouragement not to give up I look forward to seeing you much more xxx
Thank you for doing this...very thorough explanation! Another possible difference I thought about is what kind of water you have...hard, soft, treated, minerals etc......
You really did a great job of explaining how you mix up your paints. I have a ton of paint and some poring mediums and one day I might get brave and try doing a pour. I even have a few canvases. I love painting rocks but I think I'd like trying to do a pour or even a swipe. Thanks for explaining the difference between the paints and what the best consistency should be. 💗
Thanks so much for helping us. I really trust your wisdom. I am getting better at mixing my paint but there’s always something to learn. You are the master.
I love what you do and the colors you use. I would say you are the most inspiring acrylic artist. I continually use your ideas hoping it will come out the same. Thank You
That was priceless to watch, I have been waiting for this! We don`t have MIX over here but I am very grateful for this particular video, sharing from experience with such clarity on a tough subject matter! ♥
A real GOLDilocks lesson to find what is "just right". It was most informative thanks Cathleen - your did a superb job, and I am certainly more confident of how to find my "just right" than I was before. Brilliant!
Thank you! You are Amazing! 💗 I do have a tip for mixing heavy body tube paint to prevent all those clumps. Start with a very small pm (1t) and mix til smooth, then add another 1t and repeat several times as you go, it will stay smooth. Love you and your work so much! 😚 💕
Thanks so much. This is about as clear as you can possibly make it without standing in front of someone, letting them feel the consistency with the stir stick. And your consistency for swipes is about the same? I wondered why my swipes sometimes slide away during the night....So, I have mixed paints that are thicker or thinner (I guess I make too much per painting.). I will need to go back to each and work on thickening them. Thank you for sharing your gifts with everyone.
Pampi my swipe colors are very thin. Works best for me. I also tilt my swipes, then watch to make sure the paint is not flowing. If it is, I swipe again 😊🎨🤪
You are a wonderful Blessing & A Great Teach Cathleen!!! Thank you for taking the time to help all of us understand more! One thing that confuses me is The Base Coat Consistencies! Should it be the same consistency as your other paints when doing a swipe & also do you use the same pouring medium or do you add Water??? And also I have the hardest time with Artist Loft Flow White for base coat on any type of Pour! I have no problem with Artist Loft Black as a Base Coat. Time for A Beer! Cheers to you & your Man Cathleen!
Hello Kim. My base coat on my swipes is the same consistency as my swipe colors. That’s weird that you white artist loft acts up on you. Maybe thicken it up a bit. I noticed the black it thicker. Black is always thicker then most paints 😊🎨
@@COZCreationsArt Yes Black Artist Loft Flow is thicker. I usually use 2 Floetrol to 1 paint on both colors, then add water to black if needed. I've only started trying out GAC 800 with Floetrol lately for my Courtney & Cathleen Swipes! I Love the results! But I've been rationing my GAC 800 & not using in base coat just Floetrol. I need to try just 1 to 1 on my White base coat with Gac800/Floetrol medium. I might have just figured out my White base problem while typing to you.....😕 Love your Art & Appreciate your help!!! What did you use to thicken your paints before The Mix? The Mix is backordered 3-4 wks. Would you happen to know if Michael's will be selling Artist Loft Flow in Metallic Silver & Gold this winter? I picked up 2 of each last winter & running low. Cheers, Kim 🍻
I started using the Golden Acrylics soft liquid in the flip top bottles like this. They are so much better! The Golden screw top caps on the tube paint drives me totally crazy when they gunk up. They are so difficult to close and open after a while.
Wonderful presentation on mixing! Thank you.

😊😊😊😊
Thanks you for this tutorial 💐
Thank you! You are Amazing! 💗 I do have a tip for mixing heavy body tube paint to prevent all those clumps. Start with a very small pm (1t) and mix til smooth, then add another 1t and repeat several times as you go, it will stay smooth. Love you and your work so much! 😚 💕
Celia thank ya girl. Happy Painting Day to you 😊🎨
Thanks so much.
Kathleen you are always so helpful, thank you for doing this video.
My pleasure Pamela.
Thank you Cathleen, that was great!
Brooke thanks for joining me 😊🎨
You are a wonderful Blessing & A Great Teach Cathleen!!!
I might have just figured out my White base problem while typing to you.....😕
Love your Art & Appreciate your help!!!
🙏 Just started. This helped greatly! I like fluid as well ;)
Wishing you a wonderful painting journey. Be patient 😊
Tyvm for sharing much appreciate it❤️
I started using the Golden Acrylics soft liquid in the flip top bottles like this. They are so much better! The Golden screw top caps on the tube paint drives me totally crazy when they gunk up. They are so difficult to close and open after a while.
