    Today we have excerpts of the wonderful F. Reid Shippen's new mixing course.
    When it comes to Pop-Rock and Country, Nashville is the capitol of the world.
    In fact, the music scene in Nashville is so competitive that, in order to even make a humble living as a musician or producer, you have to be world-class.
    Well, over the past few years, Producer/Mixer F. Reid Shippen has managed to do a lot more than that!
    He’s engineered and produced countless legendary artists, such as Death Cab For Cutie, Cage The Elephant, Neil Young, The Jonas Brothers, Backstreet Boys, Eric Church, Johnny Lang, and Chris Tomlin, mixed hundreds of chart topping singles and won multiple Grammy Awards.
    Quickly establishing himself as the first-call producer/mixer in Nashville.
    F. Reid Shippen also has an AMAZING new course out, Mixing Cinematic Rock with F. Reid Shippen!
    In this course, F. Reid Shippen walks you through his entire mixing process of Jaclyn James’ - ‘Believe’ from A-Z.
    Jaclyn James is an amazing songwriter, keyboardist, and syth-programmer who has worked with Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez and Kylie Minogue.
    ‘Believe’ was produced by multi-platinum engineer Warren Huart (Aerosmith, Rick Springfield) at the wonderful Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN.
    If you’ve ever heard about Blackbird, you’ll know that they’ve accumulated the best gear collection in the world. From a wide variety of drumkits, to guitars and amps, all the way to microphones and vintage outboard equipment: This place is any engineers wet dream.
    And it shows! The recordings sound absolutely fantastic, and you’ll have a blast following along with Reid and mixing them yourself!

      This is a great course! I made my way through it over the past weekend, now I have my notes on all the things I want to try. Kind of a bummer that this session is missing the drums in the smaller room. In my mix, I used those for the intro to the chorus, then dropped in the big room for that lift. Interestingly though, my low end is no where as good as F. Reid Shippen. Listening back to my old mix, I realized I still need some work there!

    What an awesome track! It's a real treat to see music I like getting mixed. Most youtubers only have minimalist edm to work with these days, which is still helpful, but not always directly applicable to everyone.

    does he have much acoustic absorption? on that wall to the left is no damping of high reflections. Just wondering? As lots of people say its ok just mix low volume and don't both with the sides or above just deal with the bass traps and some modest low mid traps to soak up the lower freqs. ? . Great video and Thankyou though :)

      There a ton of stuff not shown, behind he has bookshelves with the books turned out. It’s also a fairly large room, not massive, however it does sound great in there

      I think track count issues are exaggerated, because it all depends on whether things work! If you have 16 BVs for instance that belied perfectly to a stereo bus then there's no issues. 32 channels of strings guessed to stereo, 8 tracks of guitars that all the parts work together. It's all about production and arrangement!

  • @johnthecreative
    @johnthecreative 2 года назад

    cool trick to purposely make things go out of phase and disappear in mono. if you can hear it all in mono its too messy. that way you decide what gets dropped

  • @johnthecreative
    @johnthecreative 2 года назад

    amazing work but i know everyone is gonna hate me but how long before a company sells multi tracked, canned royalty-free cinematic songs like this that are cheaper to use than hiring a team of expensive professionals for a one-shot deal? and will anyone who hears it know or care where it came from anyway because no offense they are really starting to sound extremely similar. now hate away - truth hurts I know

  • @JankoFrancisty
    @JankoFrancisty 2 года назад

    Love the mix but the song has just too much unnecessary shit on it... At least for my taste.. I get a headache listening to it.. i would rather leave in only the clean,organic,melodic instruments and remove most of the synths and samples.. To me it would sound more like a song and it would be pure and not so tense.
