- In this video I unbox, show and describe the set of Shun premier knives I ordered from Williams-Sonoma. The knives include the 8" chef's knife, 6" boning knife, 6" utility knife and 4" paring knife. It also comes with a honing steel and a wood knife block.

Thanks for sharing all this ! I'm looking into getting the Chef Knife and Serrated Utility Knife myself, so grateful seeing others share theirs on RUclips.
So funny. I still have my box cutter from the grocery store I worked at back in high school, 1999.
Love my shun knives. Boning knife is on the way
Nice set of knives.
Very nice knives Jeremy... just found your channel and watched the 3 brisket video and subscribed... look forward to watching more. Keep it up.

Thanks! I will definitely keep putting out the videos 👍🏻
Wondering how the knives are holding up? Do you find yourself using the victorinox set for most of your bbq trimming?
very good review
I'm jealous!!
Nice...May need an insurance policy. lol
Trim that brisket boy. Thanks for showing'em off. Will be looking for them in the future vids.
Hopefully they will make trimming a lot easier!
well, i just found this video. At least you went right with the right Japanese kitchen knives :-) and the premier too 🙂
does this come as a set or did you order each knife individually including the block ?
Good that you traded the Soras in for the Premier. The Soras are Shun's budget knives that are probably stamped and have cheap handles. I bought a Nakiri classic and was so impressed I bought the premier 3 set (8 inch chef, utility, and pairing). I like the classic and premier lines.
I do keep a wustof classic chef knife around. It's used to cut harder ingredients and meat that may have bone in it or frozen ingredients . It has softer metal so it will more likely bend than chip. Japanese knives are amazing but I think it's a good idea to mix in European knives too.
Also I believe it's pronounced "SHOON".
I totally get what you're saying about them being more likely to chip than bend. I actually ordered some cheaper victorinox knives to use for situations where I am afraid my Shuns would get damaged. Thanks for the info about pronunciation! I hate not knowing stuff like that.
Did you ever get around to showing the knives in action?
Did you ever make a review video after using them for a while?
Circling back to this old video…. Now that you’ve had these knives for quite some time, what are your long-term thoughts and opinions on the Shun Premiere line?
Great looking knives! Hopefully you started sharpening your knives on your own at home. With practice and the right equipment, you can definitely handle it yourself.
I have the 8 inch chef's. When new, it was like a giant razor blade. Scary sharp. But it didn't stay that way, and not even the factory can restore it to that like-new sharpness. A bit of a disappointment.
A Shun boning knife? More like a chipping knife. I considered getting Shun knives, but I think the only acceptable risk versus reward would be a Shun nakiri knife.

K-Mart.....there an old fashioned word LOL!
You look like you are trying to convince yourself after that purchase
