I got a 2017 R3 with 1000 miles on it last October as my first motorcycle. Within a few rides I felt very confident. Ive got 2k miles since, and am extremely happy I went with the R3. It is very friendly with how much throttle turn it has. Even the stock tires are very decent for a budget motorcycle. Find a twisty road and the R3 is right at home. The bike seemingly weighs nothing, once you find your corner exit, giving it an open throttle would make even an experienced rider giggle. My bike came with an M4 exhaust w/ cat delete which sounds surprisingly good. TLDR The R3 is an absolute hoot, even if you've ridden [insert name] that has 100 more hp. Just like he said with his scary track bike made legal XD
Been riding 27 years, racing and all, just bought a R3 for my son, and i want it for myself. It's an excellent bike, where i can do everything with the bike that i want to do, and it's a bagful of FUN. When my boy is finished with it......I am tracking it.
@@justbeingfia Used for sure, you will more than likely drop it as a beginner. Save the money from buying new and get some frame sliders to minimize damage,
I own a r6 now but I owned a r3 for my first bike and highly recommend it to any new beginners or anyone looking for a track bike, definitely had a lot of fun on it
Very well said, you nailed the review of ownership. I regret selling my R3, was my first bike for 2 years and i love how easy it is to ride, and how light it is. The only thing i don’t like about the r3 is how short the gearing is.
I just bought my 2018 R3 a few months ago and I love her! I've had cruisers and maxi scooters, but I'm so happy with the R3. I'm doing mods here an there just to make her even sexier!
I own a 2020 R3. Absolutely love the thing. I’m wanting to move to an r6 but I’m totally nervous I’ll miss the fun factor on such a serious bike like the r6. Any thoughts? Is it worth the upgrade?
Hey man Love your vids. Not sure if you're still in the Area but Im in plano and I been looking for that first bike and the R3's been on my radar haha. Was wondering where around here I can get a decent one for a first bike. I'd love your recommendations, anyways great vids man
Thanks man! Yeah still in the area! I currently don't have any recommendations for buying used besides checking local ads on Craigslist/cycletrader. I bought my r3 new at Maxim Motorsports in Allen,Tx, see if buzz is there and he'll take care of ya! Since the r3 has been out for awhile, can probably find a cheap one used for like $3k-$3,500 with low miles. Hope this helps!
Can you link us to where you got the red Yamaha badges abd the red center cap cover from. I've been looking for both for my red and black R3 and haven't had any luck! Your bike looks sick!
Is it a stupid idea to try to get a CBR 650f that's used, probably for about $1k more than what I could get a new R3 for, just because I want to get a bike that I can grow into and not get bored with after a few months?
I was 18 when I got the r3, me personally I would recommend the r3 over the Grom as a first bike. Don't get me wrong, groms will help with the initial, but I feel it lacks a bigger bike feel, thus giving false confidence. Then when you hop on say a 300 sport bike, it's going to feel completely different, maybe too different. Just my opinions though, others may disagree, I'd recommend starting on a larger bike (larger than the Grom I should say)
Hey Zed, love the videos. Question, in your COMPLETE MOD LIST YAMAHA R3 video you said you don't recommend the demon eye headlight mod. Can you elaborate on why?
Yeah, sadly best off doing it yourself, there are other companies making kits, but I'd think taking the time to make your own and using high quality parts would pay off. Wanted to do that, but I'll be making my r3 my dedicated track bike soon
Dude I love my r3, I'm just scared sometimes I ride it too hard. But it's good to hear that yours has lasted so long. That gives me confidence
Is it still running? I'm doing my research on r3

Would you say it's better to buy a new one or used for a beginner's first bike?
@@justbeingfia Used for sure, you will more than likely drop it as a beginner. Save the money from buying new and get some frame sliders to minimize damage,
The r3 is badass man. I switched it up to an mt07 but wish I still had it.
Mt07 is definitely a great option to come from the r3! Can always pick up a used one up pretty cheap now 👌
I own a r6 now but I owned a r3 for my first bike and highly recommend it to any new beginners or anyone looking for a track bike, definitely had a lot of fun on it
Food for thought guys, I went from 600s and 1000 sport bikes to a ninja 400. Its a more practical bike and it is fun. Ride and appreciate how it is
I currently have the Matte Black 2020 R3 as my first bike. 10/10 recommend

For sure! Definitely agree with ya on the gearing, it can be a good and bad thing lol
I will say the R3 on the street isn’t too bad, on the track tho, it’s KILLER, I love it
Bought one 3 weeks ago. 😊
That bring me the horizon intro song brought back memories man.
Of course not, because it's great. That's why we all buy one with no regrets.
Had it for almost a year and still counting, didnt dissapoint me at all, great bike, keep up the good work man!
That's awesome to hear! And thank you! 🤙
I traded mine in for a 2020 Z900. You and Yammie got me on the R3. Wish I could of kept it.
Your bike is still the best modded bike bro. Will still pe happy to watch any R3 videos you upload.
Thanks bro! Means a lot 🤘

Thing is it's all the power you need. I got the Ninja 400
After owning it for 6 months you must really love it lmao I ride an R6, but would love to take one for a spin one time
I got an r3 about two months ago. I fucking love it. However I will be getting a 636 within the next 6 months.
Hell yeah 💪
I would keep it until a good friend decides to start riding. Then you can ceremonially hand it down 🤷♂️
I have a 2016 R3 and love it
My first bike was also a 2017 R3. Could not bring myself to sell it either. Good video.
I just bought one yesterday!!!!!
That's awesome! You're gonna have alot of fun!
Just picked up a 2020 MT03 as my first bike. Very fun to ride around on. I think my next bike will be a MT07 or SV650. I need more torque!
Your videos brought me to buy one
Bro i remember your vids from mad time ago, i love the r3 vids
Good to see you never sold it. We should go rip sometime!
Definitely man! It's been a while! If you're free this Saturday I'll be out!

super beautiful bike. I am about to buy one
went to a gsx600 but still miss my r3. totally different ride.
Definitely! Both are fun In their own way
I wish yamaha made this bike with a 400cc engine! I own a mt07 but really want a r3 too
I really want a blue 2019 R3 as my first bike,
Very very good bike to start on, that and Yamaha is the best at making super sports 🤷🏻♀️. I ride a 2006 R6, would love a R3 also
Dude! I literally bought that exact bike 3 days ago, it’s my first bike too. I’m having so much fun learning on it
cameroon_themacaroon very good bike to learn on, and even keep too, if you like the R3, you Hearst gonna drop the day you get the R6, trust me lol
@@cameron338 my co worker is selling me a 2017 for 2500, I'm tempted but at the same time i like the look of the 2019 better
Ricky Eligio 2500 aint bad man. Buuuuut, there is something sexy about that royal blue haha
wait for r3 4 cilinders woho! I own a r25 v1

I'd say keep the r3 and make it into a track bike if you move into a r6, but would wait until comfortable riding the r6 as your main bike to do so
I love the Aprilia

What mods do you have on your R3
Best bike in world! Fun to ride slower bike faster than faster bikes slower.

I officially viewed this video under 100 views.
Hey Zed, love the videos. Question, in your COMPLETE MOD LIST YAMAHA R3 video you said you don't recommend the demon eye headlight mod. Can you elaborate on why?
Thanks! Short answer id say is the build quality is terrible, no instructions, cheap parts, etc. Was def a rip off

You have a quick shifter on it?
Btw have you heard the rumor about the new R3 coming out with a 3 cylinder motor
Oh dang! No I haven't, that'd be very interesting!
