Agreed! I own one and ordering. 2024 X5M comp. It is by far the most useful, car in the line up, it’s a car on steroids that can haul crap in the rear.
@@ljm.jft9722 if your single and don’t have a use for more room. The X3M rides rougher, and the X5M is faster than the X3M. Both nice but the X5M is just superior.
active roll stabilization has always been amazing on BMWs and any others that employ those active anti-sway bars. I have an X5 50i that is 6+ years old and has done 108K miles and it still makes me smile to drive it.
That 0 60 time is nuts for something that heavy! Shame they still haven't sorted the ride quality but at least you weren't bouncing your head off the ceiling like you were in your previous x3 m video! Funnily enough was watching an Alpina documentary recently and one the sets of parts shipped to the alpina factory when they were changing the x5m to an Alpina was the shocks. Another good review Joe.
🤩 Bravo Joe for your insightful, entertaining and balanced videos! It's the in-cabin footage of you pushing the cars that keeps me coming back 😊 Been a fan since your F11 530d touring vid. Still one of my favorites 🎉
THEE MOST well rounded super SUV in my opinion. Performance, comfort, styling, practicality, technology, quirks (I.E. gesture control), touchscreen to buttons ratio, user friendliness…. Its actually everything in one. Fast enough to take on an Urus, practical enough for the whole family. This IS it.
I have a X5M first edition in dark frozen silver, love it. Faster than my SVR and better on fuel. It’s louder and stiffer so not as good on longer journeys but put on the massage seats and your forget about the stiff back. I also love to electric parcel shelf, easy for me to put the buggies and suitcases in the boot.
Can't believed you mentioned Audi RS when benchmarking engine sound instead of Mercedes AMG which we all know makes the best sounding engines amongst the Germans, especially V8 guise!
Always love your reviews, Joe. Quality never lets up. As for the X5M, I gotta say the styling has aged well, at least to my eyes. Maybe it's because the grille is relatively restrained, compared to some of the newer offerings (I'm looking at you, XM 😃). Edit: Joe, when do you think you'll get to do a test of the M4 CSL?
I am glad you said that about the motorway nervousness. I really struggle with my M4 on a motorway keeping it in a straight line and thought it was me.
This review pretty much applies to the X3m comp. I have the lci and it’s epic, true LH mind bending abilities, yet I can stick the dogs in the boot when I need. The down sides are less harsh, the mpg is pretty reasonable- often see 30 + on a run when not pressing on too hard, ride us actually pretty decent, m SUV’s are simply brilliant if you need an all in one car.
@@naggersgonnanag haha… took 10 months for mine to arrive!! I’ve not got any comparisons to an x5m apart from the fuel bill will be less. And I expect the X3m to be more fun to hustle
At 10:23 were you saying that 3 launches went through half of a tank of gas? Just wondering. That seems like a lot to someone like me that's unfamiliar with cars. WOW if true though. This hobby must be incredibly expensive.
Just bought one Joe in Marina Bay blue with ultimate pack, had an Svr before this which sounded better than the X5M but everything else about the M is better, and it’s weapons grade fast
I've had my 2022 X5MC for going on 6 months now and don't feel it's too stiffly sprung. It's a much better car than my previous 2012 X5M - better performance, nicer interior, more comprehensive suite of apps and electronics. My only complaint is that here in the States we don't get some of the options you get in Europe like the disappearing package screen. Considering that a comparably equipped Porsche Cayenne Turbo costs about $60k more for not much more usable performance, the X5MC is a relative bargain. I'm very happy with mine.
Great video thanks - what a car! I’d love to see a review on the x3 m40d - not the same league I know but I’m loving mine. All the best - thanks again 👍
People just cant get their mind wrapped around the fact the BMW reached beyond the break of the rope in making something big, powerful and fast! They keep saying it shouldn't be or this can't be happening. Wasn't Hulk big, powerful and fast? Believe it !! Sports car have plenty of competition now. You don't have to squeeze into something low and fast anymore and then have to crawl out of it. You can be comfortable, dust your opponent and then drive to Starbucks, get out with ease, and go sit down and have a cup of coffee with no after effects of pain! I'll have one shortly!! BMW- The Ultimate Driving Machine!
The MPG is not a big deal for me because there other vehicles with less power that has worse fuel economy but I agree with everything else you said. It is a great SUV but it has some tiny issues. Sometimes I’d like a more relaxed ride , especially on rough roads. Also the bolstered seats makes getting in and out a little uncomfortable but overall I love the car and right now there isn’t anything else I’d rather have from any manufacturer. Great video.
I absolutely love mine (US spec) just wish I had those roads to enjoy it on I’m tempted to rock up at a track day and everyone think it’s just an SUV then cream everyone on the track - it’s that good!
For the X3MC, I find the suspension in Sport is the most comfortable - it seems to dampen a lot of the sideway jostling on the bumpy Chicago roads. BMW needs to figure out how to make a Comfort setting that is actually comfortable...
I think people oversay how bad the suspension is. It's not soft for sure but it's not like in the back of a Kia bad. It doesn't shake or stutter its just taut. In fact the whole car is. The seats are harder, the ride, the feedback through the sterreing wheel is also very 'active'. It's not bad though. In fact I don't mind it in my x6m. Yes it's more tiring for longer trips but around the city I think it's brilliant. You feel like you have complete control over the road all the time. I think bmw did a really good job here. That's exactly what you want when you choose a sport SUV.
If carbon fibre would be the free option I'd pay the £1,000 to get that aluminium option. It's absolutely gorgeous and doesn't act like a showcase for your fingerprints.
17.8 Mpg in a car with a competition performance, doing 60 miles in 3.35 seconds, isn't bad at all. In fact, it is better than most competition cars from other brands that makes it in 15mpg or even 14mpg. If you want fuel efficiency maybe get the hybrid.
Looked like it nearly wheelied 😮👏👍😀 that is some machine, great review Joe.👏👍😀 It does seem that many BMW models are compromised on the ride comfort these days, not sure they have the balance right, we all know what UK roads are like!
I’m stuck between getting a M3 X5M comp because they are stunning to look at OR a 750i because I love comfort and ride quality of course price is another major factor. Which would you choose if you can only pick 1?
Is this electric motor assisted or plain ICE. I dont get the 0-60. It’s totally crackers. You did 275k as well. With all those adults. What a car. Don’t even like SUVs but this one I’ll make an exception. Just awesome punch/pull

Had bmw x5 40d M. Super practical car. On the good quality road amazing on the bad one not so much. Suspension super hard even in comfort settings (adaptive Suspension). Bought new 2021 7 series instead, comfort on the motorway like heaven, on normal roads still amazing but on the bad roads suspension makes to much noise (still quite but audi a8 is better ). Bought for my Misses bmw 530d xdrive 2019 and I love it(she loves it to). It should be my Misses car but I drive non stop. Is hard with out being uncomfortable and I comfortable with out being wobbly. Hard to describe. It takes all road services so well and it is on 20 inch wheels. And 30d has so much torque. I'm amazed. Yet 730d mild hybrid is faster or it feels faster in the straight line. Bmw makes some great cars.

G’day Joe, my X5 M50i is averaging 11.9 litres/ 100km on country road Australia since delivery 2 years ago. It’s bloody quick so I don’t think an X5m comp is necessary. Air suspension is however necessary and makes a big difference to comfort. I am going to take mine to have the steering alignment checked following your observation concerning steering feel. The rear storage area blind mechanism is the best party trick I’ve had on any of my cars and was well worth AU$800 spend.
Great review Joe! Love that SUV! I wish they could offer a hitch like they do in the M50i version. Just so I could occasionally mount my bike rack or tow a small boat / trailer.
