I don't know Shakira personally and sometimes I have been critical of her (I'm Colombian, extremely traditional), but a lot of people here commenting on her being difficult to be with, I don't agree. She was 10 years with her ex, and 12 years with Piqué. I don't think a man, let alone two rich young men with multiple options, would've stayed so long with a woman if she is difficult. Sad to see their relationship ending, and I think there was immaturity from both sides. Shakira used to compose quite interesting music but over time got too superficial, and I think in part she was trying to be "youthful" to match Piqué since he is younger. Hopefully she will go back to her beginnings and her essence, and realize that youth and maturity are not mutually exclusive. There are old immature people, and young mature people. Aging with maturity is graceful and good for the heart.
@Nas Kane just because someone has "feelings" doesn't mean they will stay in a troubled relationship. Plus feelings are extremely fleeting, and do wear off after a few years unless you have a somewhat healthy relationship where love and a deeper bond can grow.
But I guess Shakira could just be extremely lucky to just find the most co-dependent rich, handsome men, in the world. Men who come in contact with hot and attractive women (way more attractive than Shakira) on a regular basis, because of the circle they move in. Men who in spite of all their money, looks, youth, options, hot women going after them (including models, former beauty contestants, or even just high level professional women or heirs) will stick around for at least a decade with a psycho, difficult, annoying woman. Some people in the industry don't even make it 5 years, so no, chances are, Shakira is not a difficult person to be with, even with her flaws and all. Even poor people with no options will probably leave in less than 5 years if they are with a difficult person. The only times I have seen people staying in troubled relationships past the expiration date is if they are financially dependent on that person and are afraid of their subsistence if they leave. Clearly, this isn't the case.

If you read between the lines, what Pique was saying in a very subtled way is that Shakira is a perfectionist, maybe a "controler" that does not listen to him! He feels emasculated by her attitude. She thought 2 things by being the "eternal girlfriend" #1) she was going to keep Pique always interested in her. #2) She didn't get married to protect her assets since she has more money than Pique and she is not stupid. The bottom line is that he got bored of their relationship since Shakira was the one controling it! After all she is 10 years older than him. She has more experience.
