I had a CUB Drover, off road Camper, which leaked water through the Aussie made canvas (despite being seasoned) and it was nasty to pack up with wet canvas. It even leaked water all night, during a heavy dew. It was such a relief to sell it and return to a simple 270 degree awning and an Oztent. Every style of camping, comes with its pros and cons. At the end of the day, it's all about what works best, for our personal lifestyles. Thanks for another enjoyable video.
There had to be a busted seam or similar in the canvas on your cub, as I have owned a 2006 cub regal for a lot of years and even in the heaviest of down pours its bone dry inside. Never heard of them leaking.
@@MrLoridin Nope. All seams were very well made and the canvas was thick and solid and in very good condition. It was a terrible experience. Never to be repeated. 😁
Congrats on camper. Modcon are really the pioneer of the forward folds. They later broke out or something happened and another camper company called SUV camper came about. They virtually did the se camper side by side. I started with a 2012 modcon. All ozy built. And a mate bought a suv. We were able to swap the entry doors as they were identicle. I since sold that and bought an ecomate camper also made by modcon but this was off shore built as they had to try and compete with others doing forward folds at the time. Still vitually identicle to the SUV. Couple of tips, with these. I only use 3 pegs 3 poles to set up awning for good weather, but if rain or wind xpected I'll add the pole over the kitchen to help support the end wall to protect the kitchen, and add some shelter. Also don't put the stabilisers legs down taught to the ground until main bed has been folded over, then wind legs down. The weight shift changing from back to front will allow springs to lift and make legs loose again. If staying hooked up just drop back legs and jockey wheel if reasonably level. Yours maybe different, to this but on the side entry forward folds you can leave the main awning on and flip it over the roof so to mirror it and fold away with the camper. Use the longest pole upside down to push it up onto the roof.mine both came with tourung awning but never used as the main awning is as easy as i mentiined.
Phil , I owned a Modcon FF1 very similar to yours . My wife and i went around Australia in it . The disappointment was aftersales service and part failures . The subframe the suspension was welded to rusted from the inside and completely failed in the high country with the shockies breaking off . They wanted me to drive it back to Capalaba for repair which would of been completely unsafe . I found a bloke that rebuilt Ceturion Tanks and he repaired it well . Mine had a 120 lt Chinese stainless water tank wtat broke at the welds a number of times . If yours is the same replace them with poly tanks when the enevitable happens . Modcon dont make them anymore but a company called SUV (original partners until a nasty breakup) still make identical type trailers i think . Even have A/Con . A comfotabke yet heavy unit spoiled by shoddy chinese workmanship because of price . I went and bought Aussie made next , a DOT WUHT . We love it . The current system in the camper trailer has two 100ah lead crystal batteries which appear to be in good condition. There is also a CTek M300 AC charger and a Kings 1500w inverter.
Very nice outfit. What’s the nose weight? We started off with a washing up bowl, petrol stove and a tent. Now have a fully winterised camper with thermostatically controlled blown air heating, proper cooker with a grill, carpet on the floor, even a kitchen sink.

oh and colour code your annex poles in case the numbers fall off. it makes it so much easier getting all colours together easily.
