Despite the fact that I am a Galaxy user, for me the Oppo Find X7 Ultra is the best camera phone of 2023-2024, I find it more homogeneous than the Vivo X100 Pro and Ultra, even if I think that just like me, the majority will have preferred to see you use the natural profile of the Vivo for an unbiased comparison.
And please, you don't have to say the whole name of each smartphone every time, you can just say "The Vivo", "The Oppo" 🙏🏽
Very weak comparison review. Use Zeiss Natural mode on X100 Ultra not Vibrant (I am amazed you didnt use Textured). You talk about portraits and you show us two pictures of a dog moving. Portraits on both phones are for people, not for moving dog or children. For moving beings you have on the Vivo X100 Ultra the Snapshot mode, on Oppo you have nothing. Also you compare for portrait a picture of the face of your dog on Oppo, and the back of the dog on Vivo. Then no mention on video of the 8K 30 and 4K 120 fps options on Vivo, while on Oppo you are stuck on 4K 60. You minimize the HDR advantage that the X100 Ultra has over the Oppo, you say that is neglijable when it clearly wasn't. The HDR at night was clearly better on Vivo than on the Oppo. Overall a very amateurish comparison, and it shows you have a personal affection towards the Oppo which makes you amplify every little advantage that Find X7 Ultra has, while minimizing the advantages of X100 Ultra, I can't believe how you minimized the lackluster Oppo camera app and features when comparing it with what Vivo offers, which is simply by far the best camera app on any smartphone, regardless if is on Android or on IOS. Vivo camera app is the most professional and richly feature packed. It allows you to tweak the images in ways that no other phone can have. On what I can agree with you is that Vivo needs to tweak the color science on the Ultra to mimick it to the X100 Pro, and that overall Oppo has more consistent colors. Otherwise honestly, and I am a follower of you, this comparison was very weak.
Veey nice video, but with phones like these 2 and the Xiaomi 14 ultra, i think they deserve a video dedicated only to zoom shots, they are great and should be thoroughly compared, keep it up man

Nice comparison. Dont forget, the oppo is much better in 13.3x-15x zoom, than in 10x. You can switch to 13.3x zoom quickly after double tap on 6x, or one tap on the button nearly 10x to get much better quality. I think you also need to compare 15x daylight, 15x nighttime and 30x nighttime zoom in the future rematch. And oppo will show a better results in 13.3x-15x then in 10x at the night too)
You should use ziess natural colour on vivo when you are comparing like this, also to compare portrait of dog ,you should have same kind of scenes , not a right way to compare and score , not expected from you.

@@lltechview not a right answer. Portrait mode on both phones is created and optimized for people not for moving animals. For moving animals and people you have the Snapshot mode on the VIvo, and nothing on the Oppo. Portrait mode is about skin tones, skin detail, hair nuances and capture from background etc, not about a dog moving around.

At least use a standing subject and make the picture of the face, you literally made with the Oppo a portrait of the face of the dog, and with the Vivo a picture of the butt of the dog. You can't be serious about this, is ridiculous. Look on YT at how other reviewers compare portrait modes on people.
these are definitely 2 best (at least one of the best) cameras on the market!
my choice is Oppo find x7U, purchased it 1 week ago and I can tell you that overall it is a beast!

Agree. Have find x7 ultra and master mode, with right settings, deliver very true to life photos. And in night long zoom scenario, night and master mode use always 6x optical zoom sensor and not a crop from the 3x one.
If you want to force use of 3x and 6x camera at night it is better to use dedicated night mode instead of master mode.

Vivo is the king of night photography,macro and zoom for sure even after 1 month since released date i don't know how your vivo 10x zoom shots get blurry, mine gets crystal clear even at 30x zoom,also you shoulda include some macro and longer range zoom shots,also next time use Zeiss Natural you get better photos ,more natural

Hey LL, great comparison as always. Also are you aware of the "bug" on the Find X7 Ultra that allows the user to use 6x zoom (not 3x cropped) in ANY lighting conditions? You just have to trigger the auto macro mode and tap on the macro icon to disable it. Then you will see that 6x works even in total darkness. Tbh I discovered it by total accident and a Chinese reviewer confirmed that it's not just my phone.
EDIT: to clarify, I'm talking about normal photo mode. I know you can also use night or master modes to force 6x.
I think this is a fair comparison for now. However, its not surprising as the Find X7 Ultra has been on the market for how long and had how many updates? This comparison will be completely different once the X100 Ultra had had a couple months to mature with its own updates

Awesome comparison mate. Im still so happy with my Oppo. See if you're in really dark scenarios you can also activate "tripod" mode on the Oppo (obviously designed for use on a tripod lol) but if you hold it steady with your hands the results can still be very good.
Wow! Surprising to see the differences between the two. I wonder how much of a difference going to Zeiss Natural would change the color and HDR for the Vivo… Thank you for all the work you do to make the comparison!
Also you didn't even bother comparing the Cinematic Portrait Video mode on both phones, where Oppo still has issues separating the people from the background, 1080p limit, while Vivo has better character separation and better resolution at 4K 30 fps. No mention about professional Dolby Vision HDR support on Vivo cameras, or the LOG option for color grading on the Pro mode of the Vivo.

About low light zoom, on Oppo find x7 ultra please use night mode or master mode, both use 6x OPTICAL zoom instead of CROPPING from 3x. Night mode has better HDR too

There's this thing going on about long zoom range phots of x100 ultra being blurry, which was the case at around 12:31. Some users have this problem, some don't, which I find really strange. At 12:31, it's clear vivo's photo is not lacking detail, but the blurriness is terrible. Hope you can make a separate video regarding this. By the way, it seems this problem doesn't happen at low light, which is even stranger.
Shure, you will make a rematch in a nearly few months after this video) Please, in another comparison, compare 15x and 30x night zoom. 13.3x and 15x on the oppo is always better than 10x- it must show better results in 15x)

also the reason why i jump between Vivo and Oppo is because I find that Oppo does best in portraits and cutouts, while Vivo does best in scenery shots. Its a difficult tossup, i wish i can merge these two phones together.
The Vivo is just oversaturated and overexposed and overcontrasty when taking pictures of living animals. It makes it unnatural to look at. Too wide of a contrast just makes it more like a painting almost. But I find that this algorithm works best on landscapes, buildings, scenery shots, because it enhances the pictures making it look punchy and dramatic. Oppo moved away from this style of pictures, denoted by the 'natural colour calibration' tech it has, which makes the photos look lackluster, unless you have an 8K UHD++ OLED 360 PRO MAX screen and can pixel peep.
The Oppo is king of portraits, the cutouts are simply unbeatable. Even if it still is not perfect when you pixel peep, if you take a look from a wider perspective the overall picture looks so much more natural that the flaws almost look imperceptible or supposed to be there. The contrast and colours are a bit muted yes but it works on human skin tones. It feels natural and perfect. Meanwhile what the heck is going on with vivo because even from an overall perspective you can see that its aggressively processed and cutout is too jarring.
At the end of the day, Oppo wins, because yes the photo processing generally is lackluster, but that can be edited in post-processing, knowing that OPPO AI is being developed built into the gallery app, its a definite win. With the right knowledge you can absolutely turn either photos from vivo and oppo into each other. That portrait shot cannot be edited anymore, so it cant be salvaged. To me, having a flaw thats unrepairable is a big loss.

Portrait mode and daytime long range (10x and above) zoom, oppo is the best, huawei and vivo photo landscapes.

Thank You for your indeth review, however, I would say that when you only 'Just' used the words 'Oppo' and 'Vivo' it became much, much easier to follow than each time you said each full title, which you did towards the end of this comparasion. I bought an OnePlus 12 (in error) should have got the Oppo Find 7 Ultra
you have to consider that the Oppo find 7 Ultra has been out for 6 months while the Vivo x 100 Ultra has only been out for 1 month so it still has to do the various photo updates. So the test should be repeated in at least 5-6 months to be able to say which is the best!

Bow is that not fair? Vivo is Zeiss branded and Oppo is Hasselblad branded. I choose to use their default settings which don't use Zeiss or Hasselblad filters.

To use the Oppo's 6x optical zoom, without having to enter master mode, just click on the icon on the screen and deactivate the macro mode - with it activated, it will always try to use the previous camera when the focus or image quality isn't the best
It's absolutely right way to test both phones without filters applied like someone advised to use Vivo Natural filter. Oppo has it's own Natural filter too but it's not a default one. I think both phones perform very similar. Other question is how good is Origin OS compared to ColorOS. also based on my experience, Oppo offers much longer software support to their flagship phones than Vivo.

@@lltechview No is not the default mode, X100 Ultra has 4 color modes, none is default. And no, the Vivid is not comparable to Oppo, because Oppo tries to copy iPhone's color science with more subdued colors and less contrasty images. A clearly biased approach towards the Vivo, dissapointing.

Oppo x7 ultra front camera is top, better than S23 ultra(I compared) and much better, than vivo x100 ultra, and deserves 4.5+ for shure. It was improved after updates, and I think you must up it to 4.5)
Think Apple and Samsung can learn a lot form these two... ::)) For me definitely the best two mobile phone cameras at this time... totally agree with your list.

I have to start with a comparison at one point. Oppo also has various Hasselblad filters. But I choose to start with the default settings of the camera and what you gonna get when pointing and shooting.

You should redo the shootout with Zeiss Natural Colors on the Vivo. And please try out the new enhanced Effects Master (Saturation, Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness). Imho you can get more natural results with those.

I did not yet. Pixel 8 Pro is running Android 15 Beta right now. Wouldn't ve fair I think
@@lltechviewI don't think that Android version has any effect on photo quality. At least beta of Android 15 isn't an advantage of Pixel - nothing to worry about.

Close call, but for me, Oppo takes the win. 'Punchy' is nice for social media, but I prefer 'natural'.
Colors are washed out on the Oppo more often but I still prefer it. There's a display settings called Brilliant on the Oppo that gives more contrasty pictures but maybe you are not using it but not as much as Vivo

12:29 Oppo here blew up the highlights on the right, and the Vivos photo is more readable at this zoom level, yes it is blurrier but it looks much better than oversharpened mess of words that Oppo made
14:26 and even here id argue that the Vivo shot is better, each letter is better, for example -Duisburg-, i can clearly read it on Vivo and on the Oppo photo this looks like Du&burg
Even tho it Vivo has blurrier photo it captures more real detail, yes it is heavily processed but it is better than the Oppo
also please make more sets of zoom photos, we should not judge telephoto performance just by looking at the text, shoot some far buildings or something, i hate this trend of tech youtubers only photographing distant text, you do not use telephoto camera to takes photos of the text or billboard signs at night

oppo is better. it's not blurry, just soft. i can't really stand something that's too oversharpened. oppo also has better white balance and color accuracy.

The Vivo x100 ultra is the best camera phone that has ever existed and by far, it has the best sensors and an excellent photo algorithm. He is far ahead of all the others and that is undeniable.

from what I can see is that OPPO really dials down its saturation to a natural finish but still maintaining good contrast. Samsung absolutely destroys the highlights and lowers the contrast so much its unnatural. VIVO reminds me of the old OPPO, trying to push colours 1billion whatever that was starting from Find x3 series. THe Vivo x100 ultra reminds me of the Find X5 Pro, the one i am using right now. I have a love hate relationship with this phone because some photos look too good like way overprocessed but sometimes it actually delivers. Its interesting how matured Oppo and Vivo has been and their direction of how they imagine cameras should be like. But I feel like i need to see the Zeiss Natural photos first to really check how Vivo handles those styles of photos.
