The problem is that the Tories delivered the most massive blunder since WW2, exiting the EU with no benefits for anyone but the wealthy and powerful. Sadly our current prime minister is amongst the culprits and this fact cannot be avoided.

So, Starmer's there for the taking because the Tories have fouled things up so much he won't have any money to do anything. But that applies to the Tories too, and they created the mess in the first place. There is no way out for them.

Sunak, like most narcissists, cant recognise his own weaknesses. He's launched a campaign predicated on his ability to persuade the electorate...but he's terrible at campaigning, awful with the public, and comes across like a spoiled tetchy manchild in debates. Usually elections get closer near to the end, in this case I expect the gulf to widen even more.

    • @JohnSmall314
      @JohnSmall314 21 день назад

"How did someone so bungling and inept get a job at an investment bank"
Connections. In the UK having been to the right school and right university pretty much guarantees you a high ranking job regardless of how good you are. The result is that the upper echelons of all branches of UK government and all large UK companies are stuffed with low talent people who are only there because their parents paid to send them to expensive schools.
      It's legalised corruption.
In overtly corrupt countries in the global south people just pay to get high ranking positions in the military, the nationalised industries any company controlled by government officials, and large companies. The result is that high ranking positions in these countries are full of low talent people whose main skill is knowing whose palm to grease.
In the UK we have the same thing, but more discreet. You don't pay directly, you pay for your children to go to expensive schools, safe in the knowledge that'll lead to high ranking positions regardless of their innate ability. The Economist referred to the system as the 'chumocracy', a network of old school chums who dish out jobs to each other excluding people who aren't in the gilded circle.
The result is the same as in countries with more overt forms of corruption. Lots of low talent people in positions of great influence.
Which is why low talent people like Rishi Sunak rise to positions of great influence.
Having lots of low talent people in positions of great influence is why the UK is in such a terrible state.

He is, though I don't perceive it to be his weirdness/nerdiness that's the problem, it's his inability to own it or embrace it. People have an innate ability to recognise when a politician is tense, or unsure of the 'front' they're presenting to the public. Sunak's like Tony Blair, just without the valuable political talent of making everything you say sound deeply considered. Sunak, to me, always sounds condescending, but it also feels like he'd have no idea why he sounds condescending. That's a fatal mix.

"After 14 years of conservative government, there's no money left. If only Rishi Sunak pointed this out - Starmer would be finished!" yeah this guy remains an idiot

Get Andy Street elected and make him the leader. You need a sensible opposition party.

Intelligent without speed of thought? I was under the impression he had speed of thought (maths) without any common sense. So maybe he has neither

Meritless. Bank balances don't necessarily prove competence.

Well, Sunak and Starmer play for the same team. And it's not the British people it's the WEF based in Davos. So is Sunak bothered that he will be handing the baton to a team mate after all. NO NOT AT ALL.

I think Rishi just looks so uncomfortable around regular people, he seems socially awkward, I cringe watching him campaigning, he has no chance of winning over voters at this point. The Labour guys is dull as dish water, is this really the best we can come up with for the leader of our country?

I think Starmer is head and shoulders above anything the Tories have to offer……dull as dishwater !! Are you serious after the catastrophe of the last 14 years.

Starmer is there for the taking? What are you talking about? You think the Tories can take on Labour due to the fact there is no money for Starmer to spend and therefore the Tories that have left us with no money to spend. This guy is a complete Muppet

His team lack the experience and expertise of running a national campaign. They are incompetent, gaffe ridden and thoroughly unprepared. It dosent help that Sunak has the personality of an empty shell

The iceberg wasn't the problem it was the the incompetent crew who sped towards it just because they wanted to be quickly (Lets liken that to Tories rushing policies without thinking)... Didn't have enough qualified crew on board (Lets liken that to complacent, unqualified MP's resting on their laurels) A captain who wouldn't leave dinner early to solve a problem (Leader not a the helm/incompetent leadership), they couldn't see the ice berg coming because there was only one set of binoculars, locked in a locker with only one key, which was with someone not on duty (lack of equiptment, lack of planning lack of staffing... Lets call this one the Covid response and VIP lane). Then they hit the iceberg and insisted there wasn't a problem, lied to everyone for a long time until there wasn't any time to actually come up with a plan (lets call this one Brexit, both preparation and delivery. They thought that "incredible feat of engineering" could stay afloat with it half full of water (i'm sure there's some jokes to be made about denial about the economy) Then the real kicker...they didn't have enough life boats!!! (So lets call that fundamental flaw in design but also the real point of irony for this government... THEY DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH SMALL BOATS 🤣🤣🤣. And the fact you and your wife spend that much time coming up with ways to defend Rishi but not realise it was doomed to start with says a lot.
