Also keep 100-200$ in cash atleast one can survive if something like this happens. I was in a far away village so my problems became too severe.
On the flip side if you have a card with zero exchange rate it'll be better to use the local currency. The home currency will always be marked up so you'll be paying a percentage more to pay in inr compared to aed.
RBI has banned ForEx transactions for SBM banks. Hence Niyo Global card will not work anymore. Go for traditional ForEx cards with hefty MarkUp charges to be on the safe side.
