They did tucker and wash dirty. I thought at this point he would’ve been some military commander or instructor with free lancer level skill you know, since they built this up over multiple seasons, and hoped we would’ve gotten some kickass scenes with him, BUT NO. They even managed to f*ck up his catchphrase, HOW DO YOU EVEN DO THAT
Eh. I'd say they should have stopped at 8, maybe even 5. 9 & 10 took themselves way too serious and everything since just feels like RVB fan fiction. The first 5 never over-reached and had a nice clean ending. The RE seasons were a fun step into something more cinematic, but they should have wrapped it all up properly, rather than ending on a set-up for Season 9.

And while season 9 and 10 took themselves seriously it’s not like the comedy was sucked out. I love the scene where Carolina tries to get caboose to relay a threat and he just ends up imitating an explosion. They even referenced Carolina back in season 5 and again in season 6, hinting here being there.

I think the "Recollection" SHOULD have been a contained trilogy (like how BGC was contained), rather than making the final 3rd an extended set-up for the very next phase of the show. And I'm not saying the show became a straight drama, I just think the drama they included felt inappropriate for RvB, and honestly kind of unfortunately amateur (aside from the action choreography). I'll give RT credit for being ambitious, I just wish they'd chose a different project or gave me a better jumping off point before the Project Freelancer seasons.

"North" and "South are transfers from Operation freelancer, formerly "Puerto Rico" and "Guam". The episode starts with them walking and talking about how South Dakota and North, or Puerto Rico, broke it off due to them being placed in different units. "South", or Guam, would be teasing North about it. Then, North, while staring at the floor, collides into East as she runs into him. He says "Hey, watch where you're goi--" He stops as he gets a good look at her. He becomes flustered. He immediately says "I am so sorry..." East gets up, and offers him a hand. "Likewise. I'm East." North accepts her hand, and she pulls him up. "East? Cool! I'm north!" he says, still flustered. "Ahem" South says. "Oh yeah, and that's south," North says quickly. "Nice to meet you guys- Fuck. We're late!" "Wait wha--AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" North screams, startled as East suddenly takes off, running at super speed down the hall. "Wait for me!" South sobs as he runs after them, comically slow. I'm A new Fan of Red vs Blue and It was AMAZING! But Zero Meh I watched every Season And I've Have Seen That what Made Red Vs Blue Special is That it's not some Cliché Action Show It has The perfect mIx of Comedy And Drama And Action It has Everything (Still love other's Shows though) But Zero it's Horrible Even When I watched Episode 1 Wash Sound's like an idiot And Carolina's Dodge this is Corny and The Vilians Of my Gosh All of them Are terrible Zero Sounds Has the Cliché Bad Guy British Accent And All of Then Sound Terrible Even Infinte Sound's Better
There is only one way RT can redeem these characters, send them on a far less world ending mission and have them stand around and talk so that we can actually come to know these characters and have a laugh at some jokes, and add at minimum 60-70% machinima, since without is it looks strange.

The RvB PSAs are literally just the cast of the show (mainly the reds but sometimes the blues) just doing random crap in or out of blood gulch and doing world building. None of it is out of character and it’s quite funny. They’ve been doing them for years now, since season 1, but I think after Caboose’s voice actor left the company they stopped for some reason.
As someone with a debilitating brain condition, Wash’s condition being ‘magically treated by alien tech felt like betrayal. I don’t think the writers realised the severity of what they did writing that line.

I feel like the show could have done a lot well if they just focused more on balencing the action with characters just talking. In the little short promoting Red Vs Blue in Fortnight, the one with One and Raymond, everyone actually has good chemistry and a few of the lines get chuckles. I hope that they can incorporate this into the next project they do since it’s unlikely Zero will get a second season.
The fight scenes are GAAHHH. I was excited to see Torrian's work on the shoe and the what i saw was promising. In reality, i felt betrayed of how the fights are poorly impactful, too much to focus, mindless action is bad. No fight was good, it didn't serve anything. Torrian's work is way better, just look to his other fights, Lucario vs Blaziken, and Red vs Blue. Lucario vs Blaziken is hands down the best fight in DBX. The excitement and fast action with adding two more Pokemons was so pretty. RVB in Death Battle is on of my favourite fights in S7. However, RVB zero fights are in the level of Torrian's worst fights with Lara vs Nathan, Tracer vs Scout, Black Widow vs Widow maker, and others. At least it's better than EX Arms.
I was wondering, did RT ever react to the backlash they got for this show or did they not even acknowledge the fact that most people agreed that they truly butchered the show redvsblue?
I highly doubt that's something they'd want to admit publicly, especially considering how much marketing and hype was put into this show. Though if the show continues and they address the common criticisms, then that'd satisfy me.

Also, have to ask seeing as Tucker is a favorite of yours. Do you think they did him dirty in the previous season by making it that he's been all talk when it comes to his sex life? I felt it was just a needless low blow to bring him down and drastically change Sister's character.
A very in-depth review and I see we agree on many points on this show and how it not only could have, but should have been so much better. And I gotta applaud you on the effort put into this vid. Very detailed.
Interestingly the issues with the show are all already on display in other crappy shows and movies like if you’ve seen that episode of Pokémon where dawn looses a pageant with ambypom you know that no matter how well executed a flourish is it’s pointless if it obscures your subject. Food fight is a good example of going overboard with mocap. Even rooster teeth’s own RWBY is a good example of hollow characters and hollow stakes because you never took the time to sit the audience down and establish things.
I am sincerely sad how this season turned out. I just couldn’t let red versus blue go, I wanted it to just go on forever, so I was excited that they were doing a season 18. I ended up being very disappointed with zero. It’s just not any good. The animation at times looks like robot chicken animation, sometimes it’s good sometimes it’s very cheesy. I have no emotional attachment to these characters now do I find them interesting. Put it this way, if season one of red versus blue would’ve been like this, they’re never would’ve been a season two.
The Tucker I know is the most capable soldier of the Reds and Blues. He literally has Freelancer training thanks to Wash. He outsmarted Freelancers and two bounty hunters. He held off an entire group of mercs by himself for over a year. For him to be treated like this is absolutely insulting. Rooster Teeth used to make their projects out of passion, but now it feels like they're just in it for the money
As a fan since season 2, as in I got the season 2 DVD first then the first, I at times feel like the show if not the original cast should've ended so much sooner. Especially when Burnie stopped writing. And I haven't been able to enjoy the series after Freelancer. So when I saw the trailer for this, I just saw it as a famous director's less talented son getting a movie deal and avoided it like the plague.
All of this is kinda the reason why I still think season 13/14 is where RvB should've ended. The new stuff mocked the original characters, a sin I cannot forgive in any series.
Well put! Zero was just awful, confusing, and frustrating to us RvB fans. I don’t, however, think more run time would have made it better. There were far too many systemic problems that would have only been prolonged if it had gotten an additional half an hour. Hopefully RT does not repeat this mistake next season.

Hey, this might just be me, but is it weird to anyone else that they are always in their suits in this series? In past seasons it kind of made sense because they were always on duty, and the video game thing, but in freelancer, they at least took them off in the med bay, right?
Defenders of the season try to say that this season was for teenagers (as if Red vs Blue wasn't for that demographic in the first place) I say, just because a show is targeted towards teenagers doesn't mean it should treat its audience like teenagers
One thing I've noticed when they try to reboot the show while also continue the original plot is that it often times had really shitty writting. Digimon adventure 02 for example.
I actually really like Zero’s voice, it’s very menacing and makes his presence very intimidating. Though I also think it would better if his delivery was played for jokes rather than expecting the audience to take it seriously.
What I dont get is that if they really wanted to do a spinoff they already had another rag tag group of heroes did the team from the chorus trilogy could have made a great show and seeing how chorus progressed after its arc would be interesting

It's a shame how rt has taken a philosophy of "it's not for you, it's for a new audience". It's really dismissing the almost a decade and a half of love and appreciation fans have for this show by completely changing it and not producing a story that is on par with the rest of rvb. It really seems like rt has changed their entire entertainment style from witty and sometimes serious, to childish and meme "gen z" culture, when most of the people working there are in their 30s.
I could only stand watching the first episode of Zero. The action, while cool, was a bit hard to follow with all the lens flare and Michael Bay style shake cam. Also, that blue villain's dialogue mostly comprised of over the top cliche bad guy laugh was just awkward.
The fights were descent, the story and characters suck so badly that I rather get hit in the balls by Tex then watch it again, and they killed tucker. Like what the fuck, Tucker was a fantastic character who “always” pick up the chicks, made funny jokes, and can’t have children because of Tex treatment of his groin. Also where are the rest of the reds and blues, I love caboose sarge, donut, Simmons, grif, and Lopez.

I’m fine with season 17 being the end for most of the cast, but I will agree RVB Zero should’ve been either more original or more faithful.

I can't agree with you more. I can't believe the people who made Zero looked back on it and thought "yeah I like this, this is good."

I have no emotional attachment to these characters now do I find them interesting. Put it this way, if season one of red versus blue would’ve been like this, they’re never would’ve been a season two.
The Tucker I know is the most capable soldier of the Reds and Blues. He literally has Freelancer training thanks to Wash. He outsmarted Freelancers and two bounty hunters. He held off an entire group of mercs by himself for over a year. For him to be treated like this is absolutely insulting. Rooster Teeth used to make their projects out of passion, but now it feels like they're just in it for the money
I give this show an RvB Zero out of Ten.
As a fan since season 2, as in I got the season 2 DVD first then the first, I at times feel like the show if not the original cast should've ended so much sooner. Especially when Burnie stopped writing. And I haven't been able to enjoy the series after Freelancer. So when I saw the trailer for this, I just saw it as a famous director's less talented son getting a movie deal and avoided it like the plague.
I really hope they have listened to the community and can take us back to basics, especially with halo infinite on the horizon, I'm praying hard bruh

All of this is kinda the reason why I still think season 13/14 is where RvB should've ended. The new stuff mocked the original characters, a sin I cannot forgive in any series.

Well put! Zero was just awful, confusing, and frustrating to us RvB fans. I don’t, however, think more run time would have made it better. There were far too many systemic problems that would have only been prolonged if it had gotten an additional half an hour. Hopefully RT does not repeat this mistake next season.

Hey, this might just be me, but is it weird to anyone else that they are always in their suits in this series? In past seasons it kind of made sense because they were always on duty, and the video game thing, but in freelancer, they at least took them off in the med bay, right?

I actually really like Zero’s voice, it’s very menacing and makes his presence very intimidating. Though I also think it would better if his delivery was played for jokes rather than expecting the audience to take it seriously.

RvB Zero's writers are suffering from the Michael Bay syndrome. It's pretty but with no substance.
Zero should go the Season 14 route and just be considered non-canon. Red Vs Blue should die at this point.

It's a shame how rt has taken a philosophy of "it's not for you, it's for a new audience". It's really dismissing the almost a decade and a half of love and appreciation fans have for this show by completely changing it and not producing a story that is on par with the rest of rvb. It really seems like rt has changed their entire entertainment style from witty and sometimes serious, to childish and meme "gen z" culture, when most of the people working there are in their 30s.
My question is where the hell was red team during all of this we never saw one member of red team show up

I could only stand watching the first episode of Zero. The action, while cool, was a bit hard to follow with all the lens flare and Michael Bay style shake cam. Also, that blue villain's dialogue mostly comprised of over the top cliche bad guy laugh was just awkward.
It's definitely one of those things that had bounds of potential but came up short in execution.

The fights were descent, the story and characters suck so badly that I rather get hit in the balls by Tex then watch it again, and they killed tucker. Like what the fuck, Tucker was a fantastic character who “always” pick up the chicks, made funny jokes, and can’t have children because of Tex treatment of his groin.
Also where are the rest of the reds and blues, I love caboose sarge, donut, Simmons, grif, and Lopez.
Trust me, it's a blessing none of the other Reds and Blues were involved. It would've been a disaster.
