  • Leaving my ballet company for my mental health was the best decision that I have ever made for myself. I am so excited to share more of my mental health journey as a ballerina with all of you!
My name is Goldie Jane, and the goal for my channel is to talk about all of the things I wish someone talked about in the ballet world! The Lazy Ballerina Club is not just a youtube channel! It. is also a Blog! If you enjoyed this video, please go read the blog and tell me what you think!
By leaving my ballet company for my mental health, I was able to see how much I was really struggling. I don't want that for you! Think of my channel as your best friend gossiping about ballet in and out of the studio. I am so excited to share more with you soon!

Quitting ballet even for just a while is the scariest decision for dancers in general, for me even scarier (I got my first contract 4 years ago today, and it was a hard ride both mentally&physically). First of all, because you have to get a job if you are by yourself, or find another passion. Second of all, for me because of my parent's reaction, even though they see me miserable, in therapy, and just very low, they just can't take the truth(my mom wanted me to be a prima ballerina, I didn't really, but went with it for 16 years, her being my teacher, and now i have to let it go) . And many at our company feel miserable, and some quit this summer or just went for another company. But from my perspective, I can't take being sick and deppressed every day, and I just know that it will pile up through the years, and i won't be able to come back to being healthy. Lastly, I can't keep signing contracts every 6 months, while being jobless in the summer😊

I am not a ballet dancer, but I do know a thing or two about mental health. So proud of your choice to take care of your mental health!! Better now than ending up a messed up woman 😊🌸💙.

Was it just a mental health issue, or the professional dancing was negatively affecting your body?
